1- Get Ready to Start
Material Needed:
• DC900 Driver (Digital Scanners Set)
• PC with SmartConnect Software
• USB to DB-9 Serial Adaptor (Depending on
your PC
• Flat Communications cable

2- Get Connected
Connect the converser to the USB and connect the Serial DB-9 side of the cable to
10 pins connector.
Keep attention that the red wire is pin number 1 and should be connected on
position 1 of the 10 pins connector (see picture below). The pin 1 is marked on the
driver board (there is a marked number 1).

2- Get Connected
In case you don’t have a flat cable, you can create below cable connection:

3- Configuration mode in DC900
Put the jumper on position 1 (red square below) for update. This puts the driver into
configuration mode.
Turn on the laser system.

4- Connect with the driver
Execute DC900 software. Click on Connection, Connect via Serial.
Then it will request which COM port should be used. This can be easily checked in
Windows Device Manager tool.

5- Connection Successful
Once the device gets connected wait until the upper right clock turns into 2 green
arrows showing there is communication with the PC.

6- Sending the FW
Once there is connection, go to Board, Send FW to Board.

7- Choosing the FW
Then upload the revised Scanners configuration.
Check the right configuration from the table below:

This table indicates the standard configuration. In case of doubt, check the right firmware
version with Customer Service team at [email protected]. Indicate S/N of the laser
system.

9- Check the changes
After the configuration update restart the program and reconnect again in order to
check if the new configuration has been applied successfully.

10- Calibration
Shut down the laser system and change jumper position from configuration to
calibration on position 3 (middle). Turn on the laser system and wait until the led’s
in the board remain blinking. This will indicate that auto-calibration process has
been successfully performed.

11- Finishing Calibration Process
Once calibration process has been finished, shut down the laser system and leave
the jumper opened (see picture below).

12- Extra Test
It is possible to test the scanners to see if there is any issue. Connect the
communications cable to driver, execute the program and connect to the driver. If
the noise value is below 450 everything is ok.
