The Sign Of The Chrysanthemum Historical Accuracy
The Sign Of The Chrysanthemum political and historical accuracy The novel The Sign Of The
Chrysanthemum takes place in Japan during the 12th century. This novel is about a boy named
Muna, meaning no name , that has moved from a rural part of Japan to the city, Kyoto. He was told
that his father had a Chrysanthemum tattooed on his arm. Muna sets out to find his father after only
knowing this little information about him. Muna was also told that his father was a Heike warrior,
which brings up this conflict between two feuding clans. During this time period in Japan there was
a conflict between the Heike and the Genji clans. The reason behind their fighting is because of the
conflict over political power of Japan. Muna embarks on his journey... Show more content on

The novel portrays the feudal system of Japan by giving details of how the feudal structure is
formed during this time and gives a lot of information on people that ruled during that time. The
novel goes into detail about how lords rule Japan and how owning land is how people had power
in Japan back then. The novel also accurately portrays how this conflict over power between the
lords of the lands and the clans that are loyal to them. The novel goes into detail about Lord
Kiyomori fighting off the invasion of the Genji with Yoshitomo as their leader. The Sign Of The
Chrysanthemum also manages to accurately depict the events of this battle between Lord Kiyomori
and the Taira against the Yoshitomoand the Genji. This battle was a bloody one, which put Taria in
control of the country, but actually does not resolve the conflict between the clans. In this novel
Paterson writes about a boy that grows up into a man through his experiences in the city, but still
manages to take the time period in Japan and imply these situations into his life. The use of the
feudal structure and military historical context is the reason why this novel accurately portrays this

The Ethical Implications Of Eating Meat
What is the ideal doneness of a burger? Some may claim that well done is the best, others may like
medium rare. While this is one of the most common questions asked in regards to meat eating, there
is an even more important one that everyone should be asking. What are the ethical implications of
eating meat? This oft debated question has been obscured, especially in recent years, by the outcry
for the humane treatment of animals being raised for food. There have been many recent
documentaries, books, and debates about how these animals sometimes never see sunlight before
they are slaughtered, among many other abusive treatments. In his essay, Animal, Vegetable,
Miserable, Gary Steiner raises this issue of the morality of meat eating and challenges the readers
to question their own views on this topic. Regardless of the morality of eating meat or using animal
products, Steiner does not support his claim strongly enough to be accepted. In Animal, Vegetable,
Miserable, Gary Steiner argues against the eating, or using, of animals and animal products. Steiner
is the author of multiple books on topics similar to this, and a dedicated vegan of fifteen years at the
time of this article. The author begins with an allusion to the recent outcries for the humane
treatment of animals being raised for food. However, he points out, no one seems to be concerned
about the animalsbeing slaughtered, merely that they were not abused beforehand. Steiner then goes
on to explain the two main
Personal Values Beliefs And Values
Personal values, beliefs, and principles are necessary for individuals to know about themselves.
However, when asked the question, what are your personal values, beliefs, and principles the first
responses are often a laundry list of characteristics with the assumption that the three words are
synonymous. From my experience, when asked this question the list grew longer and I started to
wonder what the differences existed between each of these terms. Recognizing these differences is
a major component of discovering how I make decisions when facing ethical dilemmas involving
directives that may be morally unsound. Hence, I began the search of how the terms relate, their
meaning and what my answer is to this question. Since I invested time to find the differences in
principles, beliefs and values my long list became more defined. So, the essay will encompass the
definitions of the terms, explain two elements for each category, how they relate to one another and
how the knowledge influences tough decisions. Values
What are values and what makes these different from principles and beliefs? Various references
agree that values are the motivations and behaviors used to determine priorities of what one sees as
important in life and work (MindTools.com, 2017; Atkins, 2017; Value, n.d.). The definition applied
my list of characteristics illustrated how I desire to represent myself and what I value most. First, I
value commitment to my principles, which my faith as a Christian
Ebay Bids for Structured Change Essay example
EBay Bids for Structured Change. Case Study Answers
EBay started out with a U form, or functional, design. What changes in that design have already
occurred as a result of the company s growth? What kind of changes seem likely for the future?
One of the first things we need to look at is what the u form design is. The U form organization (U
stands for unity), also called functional design, relies almost exclusively on the functional approach
to departmentalization . The U form design is used to implement a single product strategy. Because
of the emphasis on functional activities, coordination is extremely important (edugov). Advantages:

In your opinion, what changes should be made to accommodate further overseas expansion?
As eBay expands into more foreign markets, eBay will have to further evolve and allow for a
more country centralized execution of its policies and manager control. I can certainly see that in
countries that have a high religious influence, such as the Muslim dominated hierarchy, religious
dictates will control how eBay presents itself. In the Koran it states that you are not allowed to
profit off another. This holds true in examples like banking. However in some democracies eBay is
being stifled in its ability to require payments thru PayPal, as the book states an example of
Australian government, curtailing eBay s ability to require payment thru PayPal (Griffin, 2012).
To further accommodate expansion into these diversified markets eBay will of course have to
follow religious precepts, government regulations and allow for more targeted products. It would
be unwise of eBay to allow many items that are permitted in democracies and free thinking
countries to be purchased in a more conservative nation. In the conservative nations, the potential
buyers can still buy off eBay USA. This type of targeted selling of their system has created eBay of
Canada, eBay of USA, and eBay of Australian, eBay of Belgium and so on (whoweare). Because of
eBay s presence in over 30 countries, yet PayPal is only used in 16 countries,

Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool
Gwendolyn Brooks s poem We Real Cool uses musical rhythms to depict the endgame
consequences of youthful, rebellious behavior. The first noticeable musical rhythm to be employed
by the writer is alliteration, used to lay down the foundation for the meter used in the poem. We
lurk late. We strike straight. We sing sin...We jazz June . The melodious pattern of the alliteration
establishes the sway of the poem. As you continue to read, the alliterations pull you through the rest
of the poem. The pace of the poem gets faster and the reader finds themselves at the end in a matter
of seconds, similar to how those who lead devious lifestyles, the cool lifestyle, usually hit a wall in
their lives quickly. The end comes quickly for them. The second... Show more content on

At the same time it reflects the intelligence level of the people the author of the poem associates
with this kind of bad behavior. The words used in this poem are very simple, so much so that a
child could understand them. Children and teenagers are the ones typically targeted by their peers
to be cool . This poem brings up multiple examples about what this cool behavior entail; fighting,
drinking, skipping school and staying out late, this is the life of one of the cool kids. This simple
rhymes could also hint that the author thinks that people who exhibit this kind of behavior are
illiterate and stupid, realizing their demise when it is too late. The title of this poem has a major
error, there is no verb. This hints that the speaker, or the speakers in this case, did not complete their
education, given that sentence structure is taught to children in the early years of elementary school.
The third musical rhythm the author uses in this poem is a refrain. At the end of every line, except
the last, is the word we . This format hints at the pack mentality that is associated with peer
Female Sexual Offenders And Female Sex Offenders
Just like most crimes, the number of female sexual offenders is much lower than the number of
male sexual offenders. This is especially true about sex offenses. For a while, most people didn t
believe that woman could even commit a sex related crime; besides prostitution. There is still a
stigma around the topic; woman are the victims, not the offenders. This is not true though. Female
sex offenders have their own category. This is because their motives and actions are different than a
man s. The research done on female offenders can be bias because it is such a small amount
compared to the malepopulation of sex offenders.
Woman are thought to make up less than 5% of all sexual offences (Harris, 1979). This is very
small compared to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is almost half of the offenders with a drug problem and one third of them with an alcohol
problem.
The victims of a female s sex offender are generally younger than a man s victim. An investigation
was held in Arkansas in 1999 and reported that 50% of their victims were categorized as 11 16 and
24% were in the 4 10 age range (Tewksbury, 2004, p 368). Solis and Benedek mention a study that
found 60% of males who reported sexual abuse had identified a female as the offender (1993). The
female offenders who abuse young boys are suggested that they have a difficult time associating
with adult males and they use the boys as a substitution (Solis and Benedek, 2012). This could be
because of their own trauma as a child, they do not have healthy relationships with any adult male in
their life. So, they go after children. It is also pointed out that females are more likely to victimize
other females. One thought on why females victimize other females is because they have a male
counterpart, who is attracted to females. According to Tewksbury (2004), the female offender knew
the victim:
In Fromuth and Conn (1997) s study of self reported sexual perpetrators in a college population,
68% of the victims were identified as family members. Faller (1995) reported that in the sample of
40 clinically referred perpetrators, 85% were mothers and 55% abused only their own children,
whereas 30% abused both their own and other s children.
Peter s Ascetic Message Of Celibacy
In due course, Peter returns to Rome and the authorities soon after crucifying him for his preaching
of chastity/celibacy. To all appearances, Peter would have gone beyond Rome; however, Jesus
arrival stops Peter s direction and immediately influences him to return to Rome. Undeniably, the
death of one of Jesussupreme followers, Peter, is significant; which, in turn, obviously this issue
regarding celibacy endures enormously important to Jesus that He instigates Peter s death for His
convictions. For definitely in the story, Jesus appearance encourages Peter to return to Rome; yet,
noticeably there exists nothing in the New Testament that references this strange and courageous
event of Peter s martyrdom, or of Jesus association with Peter s traveling back to Rome. The story
leaves little doubt of Jesus intentions; however, it appears numerous religious scholars and others
would like us to finish questioning at this point. Essentially, explaining the reason Peter, and other
Christian followers taught an ascetic message of celibacy develops due to the end of time
approaching and follower s focus only directed toward God. Nevertheless, that dismissive opinion
occurs as to insufficient for such a major issue.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, Peter proceeds to escape town due to all the threats; whereupon, Jesus then appears
to him and gives the impression He wants Peter to return. Conspicuously, Jesus presence appearing
to Peter transpires as significantly crucial; since due to Jesus the crucifixion of Peter has developed.
Furthermore, with Jesus acknowledgement, Peter endures being put to death for his belief in
celibacy. Astoundingly, this startling incidence endures as mind boggling and dramatic! Jesus
drastically inspires Peter to die for this belief; for indeed, Peter goes back to Rome rejoicing,
afterwards he soon to experiences
Andrew Jackson, The Man On The Twenty Dollar Bill
Andrew Jackson, the man on the twenty dollar bill, is a highly respected commander and an
individual who should not be reckoned with. In Hickey s Glorious Victory, he is regarded as the
People s President and is arguably one of the best leaders to have ruled this nation (Hickey, 48).
Despite his success as president, he is tangled in many contradictions. For example, he is known
to be racist to the Natives, but adopting a native orphan; he is also known as a slaveholder, but he
also welcomed free African Americans to join his army; he is a general who lectured his superiors
and ignored orders, while simultaneously demanded unquestionable obedience from his men.
Although some individuals question the appropriateness of Jackson s face on the twenty dollar
bill, his achievements during presidency and in the military preserved the cohesiveness of the
American people through his leadership and unrelenting resilience. Jackson s leadership played a
prominent role in the victory of the war in 1812. Although he had disagreements with Wilkinson
during the Burr Conspiracy in 1807, Jackson was able to set aside his animosity to put the nation
first (46). One hardship Jackson faced between his men and commanding officers was the uprising
of mutinies; he was able to keep his soldiers in line by instilling fear in them by having his officers
read the section of death penalty for mutineers in the Articles of War. Furthermore, in the middle of
his campaign in Natchez, he was

A Comparison Of Alone Together By Arthur Schwartz And...
This piece is a jazz standard that was composed by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz. Schwartz
was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 25, 1900 and died on September 3, 1984. He
began playing piano and harmonica at a very young age and also wrote silent films at the age of
fourteen. Dietz was born on September 8,1896 and died on July 30, 1983. He was a publicist and
lyrists. Him and Schwartz first started working together when they teamed up for a Broadway
show in 1929. They composed Alone Together in 1932 for the Broadway musical Flying Colors
(Schwartz composing the music and Dietz the lyrics). This particular piece is considered a ballad,
meaning that the tune tells a story. Ballads come from the French chanson and they are often
made up of thirteen lines with an ABABBCBC form. It was originally used for dance tunes, but in
the nineteenth century it was used for slow tunes. The actual form for Alone Together is AABA.
The significant thing about the first two A sections, is that it is fourteen bars long which is very
uncommon when it comes to American song writing. In common song writing, each A section is
only eight bars long. The bridge of the tune also known as the B section is quite normal. It is the
standard eight bar length which leads to the last eight bars of the third A section. The tune is
written in key of D minor, but, instead of playing a D minor in the thirteenth measure of the last A
section, Schwartz decides to play a D major which is called a Picardy
The Neo Traditional Family Structure Essay
The neo traditional family structure is subsiding and is being replaced by the now more popular
egalitarian family structure. Before the neo traditional family structure was considered ideal, with
one sole financial provider for the family (usually the male), but this family structure is more
difficult to maintain because t is difficult for one person o be the breadwinner; also, the unfinished
revolution has also led to viewing this familystructure as unappealing because it can be limiting for
one spouse (usually the woman). Thus, egalitarian family structures are now becoming more
popular, as: household work, childcare, and financial contribution is more equally divided between
the two partners. However, I learned that many still hold some neo traditional values, more so the
males in my sample than did the females. Initially, I thought that culture would be the largest
determining in a persons desired family structure, but the data showed otherwise. For instance, I
thought that underrepresented minorities, such as, Latinos and African Americans would hold more
neo traditional views simply because of culture. Interestingly, I learned from my analysis that this
was not necessarily the case; instead, I found that many of the participants had intermixed
components of both neo traditional family structure and an egalitarian family structure. Many of
their responses contradicted with their desired family structure. I think that this mentality is leading
to new hybrid family
Alternative medicine has been becoming more and more...
Alternative medicine has been becoming more and more popular in Western culture in the recent

Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of health care problems including osteoarthritis, chronic pain,
post operative pain, dental procedures, fibromyalgia, nausea, acute cerebral infarction, anesthesia,
angina pectoris, anxiety, depression, hypertension, insomnia, rhinitis, skin disorders, weight loss,
smoking cessation and many more (natural standard). The purpose of acupuncture depends on the
reason it is being sought out to be used, but in general it is given to help relieve stress, pain,

the most common forms of arthritis; it is sometimes referred to as wear and tear arthritis.
Osteoarthritis is when the cartilage that protects ones bones from hitting one another, breaks down.
There has been no cure found yet for osteoarthritis, and it is known to get worse over time.
Treatments such as acupuncture have evidence that acupuncture may be useful to ease the pain of
osteoarthritis (Davis 2012).
The outcomes of acupuncture vary with the cause and type of the illness it is being used for, in
general for dental pain, postoperative nausea and vomiting and chemotherapy induced nausea and

Paul s Letter For The Romans
Paul s letter to the Romans is special in many ways. It has provided the church with such
theological doctrine. Within its long text, Paul assures equal judgment by God as well as equal
chances to pursue righteousness to God. Paul addresses the debacle of Israel and the implications of
that on the Gentiles. Paul looks to the Roman house churches and tackles possible issues within their
context. Paul encourages the Romans to respect and not resist governing authorities. One topic Paul
does not touch explicitly is the role of women in the church, but implicitly Paul speaks volumes
about women within the church. In chapter 16, Paul commends and greets several women. His
language gives strong clues to the state of women in the ministry of the early church. This paper
will explore the way Paul commends and greets Phoebe, Prisca, Mary, and Juniaand the implications
of those greetings to reach beyond the belittling of women in the church.
Women in the Early Church It is difficult to address the topic of women in the early church because
culturally, Women were not accepted. Generally, it has not been acceptable for women to have a
teaching role within the church. More conservative denominations may even limit that more. Aside
from a general lack of woman s rights throughout time within many cultures, Christians cite the idea
that women cannot have positions of authority within the Church from passages like 1 Corinthians
14:34 where Paul says, The women should keep silent in the
