Jesus Walking On The Water Analysis
Matthew s narrative of Jesus walking on the water serves to illustrate the saving power of faith,
Christ s always present help, and the issue of testing God and doubt. Peter, the leading disciple in
the story, introduces the issue of a divided mind conflicting between faith and doubt as he attempts
to walk out to Jesuswho is coming to the ship. Jesus purpose for walkingout on the water is to save
the disciples in the ship tossed with waves (Matt 14:24 KJV). The waves, representing chaos,
serve as a barrier between the disciples and Jesus, representing God s divine power. Upon walking
on the water, saving Peter, and calming the waves with entering the ship, Jesus proves the power of
God to overcome all fear and chaos found in matter.
This text offers me comfort in knowing what to do in times of critical need, which is to cry out
for Jesus in prayer, a response that could be easily overlooked. Jesus action to reach his hand out
and catch Peter from sinking shows the prayer will not go unanswered. This gesture is common in
other healings, and the idea of Christ being there in times of trouble to respond to our cry by
reaching out is a comforting assurance. An additional part of the narrative that provides a sense of
comfort is in the sea being stilled upon Jesus entering the boat. The sea, representing chaos, is
immediately calmed as soon as Jesus enters. The power of the sea diminishing is a comfort knowing
the chaos in our lives too will diminish upon Jesus
Taking a Look at Auschwitz
Background: Auschwitz was a concentration/death camp made by the Nazi s. It was the largest of
the Nazi camps and was the most mass killing center that was ever created. 1.1 million People
were sent and murdered at Auschwitz, mostly Jews, and has become a symbol of death, The
Holocaust, and the destruction of European Jewry. Arrival: Jews,Gypsies(Roma), homosexuals,
criminals, and prisoners of war were gathered and then put into cattle cars on trains and were then
sent to Auschwitz. Families were brutally and quickly separated from each other, and were then
ordered to form two lines. Men, Women, young children, older men and those who looked unfit
were put in the left line, then sent to the left, where they were to be killed immediately. The rest
who looked strong and healthy, we re sent to the right to work and do hard labor, then eventually
die from exhaustion, starvation, torture, and/or hard labor. The Gas Chambers: People who were
sent to the left, weren t told that they were walking to their deaths because most surely they
would have fought the guards. The Nazis told the victims that they were going to work but had to
first take a shower to be disinfected, they were toldto get completely naked, and walk to a large
room that looked like a shower that even had fake shower heads. Once everyone was inside the
room, the guards would close the door and would pour Zyklon B pellets and once the pellets
contacted air, it would turn into poisonous gas. After everyone in the
Zheng He Dbq
Zheng He was one of the greatest explorers in the Age of Exploration however, his fame is not
widely celebrated today. Zheng He was the powerful and wealthy adviser for Emperor Yongle of
the Ming Dynasty. The Emperor sent Zheng He on a mission to travel to foreign lands ranging from
the tip of India to the eastern parts of Africa to give them gifts to show Chinas power and dominance.
He started these voyages in 1405 and eventually captained seven of them before retiring. The
Chinese felt that the cost of the expeditions outweighed the benefits. Therefore they dismantled all of
the ships and destroyed all of the evidence. Zheng Hes voyages were lost in history and has not
earned the fame that he rightfully deserves. Zheng He s voyages should be celebrated because he
traveled extraordinary distances, he had a great deal of ships and crew, and provided China with
many benefits.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the map and chart created by National Geographic titled China s Great Armada , Zheng He
traveled to Mombasa Kenya which is ~19,000 miles roundtrip(Doc A). This accomplishment is
important because far seafaring expeditions of this extent were nearly unheard of in the 15th
century due the lack of technology and knowledge. Therefore Zheng He s skills as a great explorer
are undoubtable. Moreover in the chart it exhibits that Zheng He transversed Calicut, Hormuz,
Malindi, Mogadishu, and Mombasa(Doc A). All of these countries were over ~11,000 miles
roundtrip and therefore, Zheng He displays that he can consistently travel far distances(Doc A).
This further proves his markings of a great explorer through his ability repeat his success multiple
times. Overall, Zheng He s length of travel and his consistency depicts him a strong
Fossil Fuels and Climate Change Essay
In this paper, we focus on using fossil fuels causing climate change. Fossil fuels are fuels formed
natural resources such as coal, petroleum and natural gas, which are the most widely used fuel and
industrial chemicals in the world. Since industrial revolution, fossil fuels bring a very great quantity
convenience and technological products. So we can use cars, planes and all modern products. But
fossil fuels cause climate changeat the same time. Greenhouse gas, nitrous oxides and a great deal of
harmful gas which are from fossil fuels are causing serious environmental problems. Therefore we
need to be concerned about the problems caused by fossil fuels and the solutions. From human

Some nitrous oxides sulfur oxides lead to acid rain. It can have harmful effects on plants, animals
and buildings. Oil spill in Gulf of Mexico this year caused ecological disaster. An explosion
occurred on the semi submersible offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico,
killing 11 rig workers and injuring 17 others. On April 24, it was found that the wellhead was
damaged and was leaking oil into the Gulf. This significant spill poses a serious threat to wildlife,
affecting as many as 400 species along the coastal areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and
Florida. (Curry L. Hagerty, 2010) The number of fossil fuels is limited. Even they are enough now.
Are they still enough in 50 years? So it is a time for our human beings to decide how to deal with
the relationship with fossil fuels. When I am writing this essay, Jiangsu province is suffering from
the most serious drought from last 50 years. Suzhou, a city should have been rainy. But I almost
have not seen rain since I come to Suzhou. Climate changes caused by human activities, most
importantly the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas) and deforestation, are superimposed
on, and to some extent masked by, natural fluctuations. (Hamburg, S. et al, 1997) Due to these
violent human activities, those kinds of extreme phenomena are becoming much more popular than
before. Human burning countless fossil fuels recklessly lead to too
How Did Mikhail Gorbachev Modernize The Soviet Union
Mikhail Gorbachev was the seventh and final President, the last Head of State, and the last General
Secretary of the Soviet Union and also the final Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet.
Gorbachev tried to introduce new economic, social and political reforms to the Soviet Union. These
reforms were very different to those current in place from the Communism ideals. Although Mikhail
Gorbachevdidn t intend to cause the collapse the Soviet Union, the attempts he made to strengthen
and modernise the Soviet Union ultimately lead to its downfall. As communism and central power
was the basis that held together the Soviet Union, Gorbachev s Perestroika acted against these
factors causing the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Communism was introduced in Russia in 1917 following the Russian Revolution and the takeover of
Vladimir Lenin and the Bolshevik party. They introduced a Union of Soviet Republics based on
communism, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gorbachev changed the Soviet foreign policies and began to travel around to other nations easing
tensions and assuring that the Soviet Union is not a threat any longer, the changes to the foreign
policy led to the democratization of much of Eastern Europe and ultimately ending the Cold War.
However these changes in foreign policies removed ideological enemies causing a weakness in the
Soviet ideology over the people. Gorbachev did not believe in using force to strengthen his control,
this was also a major downfall as the republics nationalism began to increase weakening the Soviet
Union. With Gorbachev s methods of easing tensions and assuring foreign nations that the USSR is
no longer a threat, the people no longer feared the government, fear is essential to controlling people
in a communist society, this further decreased the power of the

Cognitive Functions and Phineas Gage The discussion of this paper is the role of cognitive brain
functions and Phineas Gage. The amazing story of Phineas Gage will be analyzed and the
explanation of cognitive functioning in regard to his situation is very interesting and is also a major
topic in this paper. Cognitive brain functions will be thoroughly examined in this paper as well.
Cognitive functioning is when an individual has the ability to use mental processes to learn, reason,
problem solve, make decisions, and comprehend. It also helps in focusing your attention and
remembering events. Without cognitive processing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is perfect correspondence between the retinal image and the cellular encoding in V1 (striate
cortex), which is completed in terms of contrast and orientation. From there, information from the
retinal image is sent forward to distinct regions of the occipital lobe for more complex encoding,
called extra striate cortex, including V2 (discrimination, orientation, and color), V4 (shape), and
V5 (motion) (Stevens PH.D., livestong.com) The parietal lobe is the dorsal part of the brain. The
sensory cortex is located in this section where sensation and perception is integrated. This lobe is
most commonly associated with its capacity for spatial processing. It is here that external visual, or
environment based, coordinates may be translated into internal, or body based, coordinates and vice
versa. (Stephens PH.D, livestrong.com) The Temporal lobe located at the bottom of the brain is
used to process visual information. In the temporal lobe there is an area for language comprehension
and the auditory cortex processes sound. This lobe helps with processes related to recognition and
associative memory. The Frontal lobe holds a very high position in the brain and is located directly
in the front of the brain. This lobe conducts the entire decision making process and also has
connections with memory, emotion and an individual s personality. But it is also
The Use Of Creating Polylactic Acid Using Starch From Corn...
Biopolymers are polymers (large molecules, consisting of many repeated subunits) produced by
living organisms also known as organic polymers. An example of this is starch, which by chance is
one of the most commonly used raw materials in creating Polylactic acid. DNA and RNA are both
examples of Biopolymers that have been constructed from nucleotides.
Polylactic Acid
Polylactic acid is a biodegradable thermoplastic deprived from renewable sources such as
cornstarch and sugarcane There are several routes in order to create Polylactic Acid (PLA)
however, the most commonly used one and one I will be discussing today being the polymerization
of lactic acid. Another method is the use of the cyclic lactic acid dimer called lactide as an
intermediate stage. I am going to explain the method of creating Polylactic Acid using starch from
corn. Polylactic acid has the chemical formula (C3H4O2) n
Chemical process involved in the production of Polylactic acid
Polylactic Acid is easily made and is usually done in two steps. The first step in creating PLA
bacteria ferment the corn in order to create lactic acid. Step two is the lactic acid leads to the
creation of PLA by chemical reactions. (I have attached the physical production method on a
separate piece of paper)
First step: For corn starch or other organic materials used in biopolymers to become lactic acid and
therefore turn into PLA the Corn starch has to converted to dextrose. The corn is wet milled and
separates into starch,
My Favorite Place At The World Is The State Of Oregon
Oregon
My favorite place in the world is the state of Oregon. The reason for this being my favorite place is
because of how green and simply beautiful this place is. I have had the fortune of getting to visit this
state twice. I even took a train ride home from Washington through Oregon down to California. I
must add the scenery is seriously beautiful. I have never seen so many trees in my life. The name
Oregon means windstorm or hurricane. The reason they gave it this name is because of the powerful
chinook winds of the Columbia River that blows through this state. I also wanted to do this place
because they are known for their cheese and ice cream from the Tillamook brand. They also have a
lot of wild berries growing and have about 80 national parks you can visit. In Cannon Beach there is
the famous Haystack rock. Haystack rock is 235 ft tall and is home to wildlife. It also has made
great tidepools full of marine life. Crater lake happens to be the deepest lake in the United States and
the second deepest in all of North America. It also ranks number 9 in the world. The way this
massively deep lake was formed was due to the collapse of a volcano ,known as Mount Mazama. Its
max depth is 1.949ft. Oregon consists of 6 different areas. The coast, Klamath mountains ,
Willamette lowlands,Cascade Mountains, Columbia Plateau , and the basin and range region. The
Pacific shoreline of Oregon is bordered by narrow coastal plains of sandy beaches, luxuriant
Flower Mound Lacrosse
All my life, my parents have taught me to express emotion, hard work, and perseverance through
lacrosse. While playing has its own downfalls, such as injuries and time consumption, the game
builds character for its players. Playing sports through my years of maturing has taught me
leadership, control of emotions, and the concept that success comes from hard work. Through
middle school and high school, I participated in the association of Flower Mound Lacrosse.
Lacrosse was not popular in Texas, so everyone was a beginner; that included myself. I subdued
countless hours on the field, ensuring success for many years to come. Though I quickly dubbed
myself an expert at the sport, there was much turmoil associated with it. This included, but was not
limited to, a sprained meniscus, numerous concussions, and an abundance of cuts and bruises. Many
times I did not want to shake off the pain. I wanted to walk off the field and never look back. I did
not realize how much of an impact little injuries would have to my competitive drive. These incidents
not only affected me physically, I strove to plow through the pain and mount the summit. Winning

Losing contains the ability to fuel a vast amount of infuriation, followed up by regret, then shortly
after, tears. But, one of the most notable attributes I attained happened to be the ability to mask my
morose emotions and persevere. When all I wanted to do was fall to my knees in defeat,
acceptance overcame. I would end the game with my head held high, telling myself, We will get
them next time . Showing that I felt defeated would only fuel the other team s passion to see that
look the next time we played. While losing hurt my team s record, it also brought us closer together.
We shook off the loss and pushed through the pain to earn our future

Some of the strengths of Divergent are that every chapter has action, there s always something
exiting going on in the book, Tris is always doing something fun or exiting. Tris climbs the Ferris
wheel, she s the first jumper in initiation, Tris zip lines off of a one hundred story building. Some
of the weaknesses are that sometimes in between all the excitement and action are some parts
that are a little boring or unnecessary. In one of the chapters, Tris comes out of the shower
/bathroom and Peter, Drew, and Molly where in the dormitory and Tris goes to her bunk to get
different clothes and they go on either side of her. Tris goes under Peters arm and Peter grabs her
towel and Tris runs out of the dormitory into the shower/bathroom naked. The author is Veronica
Roth and the genre of this book is science fiction. I hope I encouraged you to read Divergent if
you haven t already. I would recommend this book because there is a lot of action and excitement.
Tris jumps off a building, zip lines of a one hundred story building, and stops Jeanine s plan to take
over the government. She goes from being ranked almost last to being ranked first. Tris overcomes
her fears and the dauntless leaders don t find out that s she s divergent until she lets them
