the officer s hand, the villagers anticipated that Orwell plans to shoot the elephant. The Burmese
feel as if they should follow him to the elephant because they want to see if he will actually kill
the elephant. However, from the narrator s perspective, he states, I had no intention of shooting

Abstract:
The main purpose of this experiment was to purify the steroid hormone, Cholesterol, by
Bromination. This process was achieved by the electrophilic addition reaction to a natural product
(Cholesterol dibromide). After adding the designated amount of the white powdered cholesterol and
the reddish brown solution of bromine to the Erlenmeyer flask, the mixture turned to a bright yellow
color then it was chilled in an ice water bath, allowing crystals to form. Finally, the vacuum
filtration was used to isolate the sand like white ish yellow crystals that were formed and used to
measure the melting point of cholesterol dibromide in the following lab period. The percentage yield
was calculated to be 17% and the melting point rangeof the product obtained was 100.8C 104.8C.
Procedure:
The procedure for this experiment is found in the organic chemistry I lab manual written by Zachary
Poulos (pages 123 134). There were no changes to the procedure.

Today, when society talks about diversity, often times, Asian Americans are brought into the
conversation and are talked about as highly looked up to individuals, but they haven t always
been this way. On television, many times, Asian Americans are represented as nerdy and socially
incapable/awkward , Asian American males are mostly shown as being weak and stereotypically
awkward, while Asian American females are either shown as exotic or also stereotypically

experience, that when people realize that I am Asian, they tend to compare me with the stereotypes

Asian as the stereotypes say that Asians females generally are shorter in stature and are petite with
light skin and pin straight black hair. On occasion, I am told that I look more Hawaiian than I do
Asian due to my darker skin and bigger build. Though, I do hear a lot of comments regarding my
