A Report On The Assessment Of The National Planning And...
SUSTAINBILITY APPRAISAL
1INTRODUCTION
This report will provide the Sustainability Appraisal in relation to the findings of the Baseline Study
conducted in October 2014. This is in accordance with Section 5 of the Planning and Compulsory
Purchase Act 2004, and EU Directive 2001/42/EC, which indicate that a Sustainability Appraisal
(SA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) are required for Development Plan Documents
(DPDs), produced as part of the Local Development Framework (DCLG, 2014). It is possible to
conduct both through a Sustainability Appraisal.
According to Paragraph 165 of the National Planning Policy Framework, a SA should be an integral
part of the plan preparation process and should consider all the likely ... Show more content on

3SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Sustainable development is at the heart of the National Planning Policy Framework of 2012, and is
defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their own needs. Sustainable development includes three key pillars social, environmental and
economic, however in reality these issues often overlap and do not fit directly into one category
(Hopwood, Mellor and O Brien, 2005).
To ensure the concept of sustainable development is integrated into development plans, a
Sustainability Appraisal (SA) shall be conducted which requires that economic, environmental and
social matters are taken into account (Adur District Council, 2011). This integration will ensure that
future development meets the needs of local people whilst ensuring a healthy economy and
environment.

Gilgamesh s Epic Of Gilgamesh
The story of Epic of Gilgamesh deals with different behaviors in Gilgamesh. Throughout the story
Gilgamesh behavior changes, he is portrayed as overbearing ruler, as a courageous and strong
fighter to his peoples, and finally as a man who seems content with what he s accomplished.
Through all of these transitions, we see Gilgamesh s attitude toward life change. The goals he has
for his own life alter dramatically, and it is in these goals that we see Gilgamesh s transition from
being a shallow, ruthless ruler to being an introspective, content man.
In the beginning of the story Gilgamesh is described to be an overly aggressive ruler. People
respect him, but they dislike Gilgamesh sexual and physical aggression, so they called to the gods
to lighten their burden with Gilgamesh. The gods created an equal to have control over him and to
also keep him in line, so they send Enkidu. Enkidu has an immediate impact on Gilgamesh, these two
never met before. And they both did not hit it off right with each other. They basically had a brawl
with each other. The gods gave Gilgamesh a real battle to deal with, Enkidu instantly changes
Gilgamesh behaviors throughout the story; Gilgamesh and Enkidu fighting with each other creates a
serious mess, but they both end up without animosity toward the other. In having this equal this
gives Gilgamesh to learn to have respect for him and another man around him. Gilgamesh and
Enkidu behavior with each other is how human in today society act,
Mass Movement In Eric Kushner s A Bright Room Called Day
Nowadays, mass movement is defined as an assimilation process, where people throw away their
own personal identities and follow submissively the orders of their leaders. The idea of people
being obedient to some of the cruelest orders, such as killing millions of people in the Holocaust,
surprises many people. Thus, many authors decide to find out the answer by bringing up many
opinions about the creation of the mass movement in their own books or plays for discussion. One
of those authors is Eric Hoffer, who suggests that a mass movement is created by the cooperation
between the man of words , the fanatic , and the man of actions (147). In fact, he points out that the
three groups have the same craving for something new and different that they believe can only be
obtained through a revolution. At the same time, Tony Kushner also offers his own belief on the
topic through his play A Bright Room Called Dayby establishing a setting in Berlin, where people
follow their own party in a fight against the development of a Nazi government. Moreover, many
characters in the play perform somewhat similar roles to the three groups duties described by
Hoffer. In fact, the characteristics of Baz as an outsider and a man of words, Agnes as a fanatic
who joins the party out of boredom, and Zillah as a person of action who refuses to accept the
Reagan government will be discussed in this essay to identify the similarities and differences
between the viewpoints of two authors about
The Negative Effects Of Rationalization In Food, Inc.
According to Weber, rationalization refers to the process by which modern society has increasingly
become concerned with efficiency, predictability, calculability, and control (Weber 2009). This leads
to behaviors that are guided by reason and practicality. In the film Food, Inc. (2008), the owners of
the meatcompanies wanted to produce their products in a rational manor. The film portrays the side
of the foodindustry that the companies do not want the consumers to see. Although this
rationalization may seem to be positive, there are many negative effects.
One example of food production in the film is the production of chickens. When interviewing the
owners of the chicken farms, they were extremely restricted on what they could say and show. The
farmers took out thousands of dollars in loans to be able to start their farms. The farmers do not
earn enough to pay off their loans, so they are in a constant debt. On top of this, the farmers are
required by the corporations to constantly update their equipment. If they do not update the
equipment, then they will lose their contracts. This further traps them in a cycle of debt and
dependence on the large corporations. If they do anything to go against the corporations, they can
easily lose their contract and be replaced. These chickens are raised in chicken coups where the
majority of them never see sunlight. They are given hormones to increase the size of the chicken in
less times. Scientist realized that most people prefer

Essay on Plate Tectonics Explained
The interior structure of Earth is chemically divided into an outer solid crust, the mantle, a liquid
outer core, and a solid inner core. The core is largely composed of iron, along with nickel and
silicon. Other lighter elements are usually in the crust.
The core is divided into two parts, the solid inner core and the liquid outer core. The inner core is
thought to be solid and primarily made up of iron and some nickel. The outer core is all around
the inner core and is believed to be made up of liquid iron mixed with liquid nickel. The outer core is
about 2890 to 5100km. The inner core is 5100 to 6378km.
Earths mantle is mainly composed of substances high in iron and magnesium. The melting point of
every substance depends on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This then forms oceanic trenches in which the Earth s crust is pushed under into the mantle where it
becomes molten. The oceanic trenches are several hundred kilometers long but narrow. They also are
the deepest parts of the ocean floor. These boundary types also produce mountains. Mountains are
made when convergent boundaries collide but instead of one going under they both are pushed up
by the others force. For this to happen neither of the boundaries can be more or less dense than the
other. There are three types of convergent boundaries: oceanic plate continental plate convergence,
oceanic plate oceanic plate convergence, and continental continental plate convergence. An example
of this type of boundary is the collision between the Eurasian Plate and the Indo Australian Plate
which is forming the Himalayas.
A divergent boundary is where the plates are moving away from each other. These areas can form
in the middle of continents but eventually form ocean basins. Divergent boundaries make ocean
ridges like the Mid Atlantic ridge. At divergent boundaries the floor is higher than anything else
around it. This is because where the plates are moving away from each other there is a crack where
new magma constantly flows upward toward the surface through a gap called a rift onto the ocean
floor making the surrounding area move outward. Sometimes submarine volcanoes might also be
formed. Continental crust is often split along divergent plate
Taking Risks In Wonder By RJ Palacio
In part six of RJ Palacio s realistic fiction novel Wonder, it shows the theme that new things are
great so you should take risks and live on the edge because you only live once. One example of the
theme is when August is starting to lose his hearing and has to go to a special doctor. August has
always hated the doctors office because it brings back terrible memories like all 27of his face
surgeries. He also thinks that by getting hearing aids it gives people another reason to make fun of
him. Ever since I was little, the doctors told my parents that someday I would need hearing aids.I
don t know why but this always freaked me out (Palacio 211). Readers can sense that August is a
nervous kid because he has been called some names that a super mean.... Show more content on

He also doesn t want to loose his two best friends and is afraid that if he gets and worse looking
they won t want to be friends with him anymore. This quote relates to the theme because August
has to take a risk (which in this case would be his hearing aids) and if he challenges himself by
just wearing it more people be like oh, what is so bad about him and Auggie by taking one risk
could have more friends. In addition, the next quote is also occurring in the doctor s office. It is
when August puts them on and is crying to his mom that everyone will make fun of him and that
he would loose Summer and Jack. August thinks this because he already has most people not
liking him so when he puts on his hearing aids he believes that people will call him more names. I
can t wear them mom, everyone will notice (Palacio 212). Readers can realize from this quote that
August wants to be as normal as possible and hearing aids aren t the answer. You are also informed
that August doesn t want to be there because his least favorite body part is his
