How Hardware And Software Is Necessary
What Hardware and Software is needed to create and edit graphical images.
Hardware
Monitor Visually Displaying the image on Screen, they come in a very of different sizes and
resolutions. The monitor is an output device where is receives information from the computer to
display the image on the screen in the form of pixels. This data usually comes from the Graphics
Card or the integrated graphics within the processor outputted by the motherboard. This connects to
the computer either via HMDI, VGA, DVI or Thunderbolt.
Graphics Card display the data on the screen. These consist of small pixels but many millions of
them. So the graphics card is a translator and takes binary data from the CPU and turns it into a
picture you can see on the monitor. Unless there is an integrated GPU built in with the
motherboard then this replaces it. It s connected to the motherboard by slotting in the PCI slot
which is shown with the arrow. Also there is a power cable which is connected to it from the PSU
and a cable to connect to the monitor (VGA, HDMI and DVI). It is required in order to reduce the
power output from the CPU needed to display the image. This allows the CPU to perform other
background tasks whilst the GPU can deal with displaying the Graphical data.
Graphics Tablet Easing the ability to create, edit images, it s an Alternative from using a mouse.
Hard Drive A hard drive is similar to RAM however its stores data permanently rather than
temporarily. This is stored
The Panopticon Gives Power Of Mind Over Mind
Prompt: Please draw on the Foucault reading to describe how the panopticon gives power of mind
over mind. Describe an instance in which being under panoptic surveillance has lead to your own
self discipline or self regulation.

The Foucault reading focused primarily on the panopticon. The panopticon is a system in which one
is continuously surveillance and observed but at the same time is explicitly aware and has been
explicitly shown to be being observed/surveillanced. This sort of all seeing watchful eye approach
lends to what Jeremy Bentham calls a power of mind over mind . What is meant by this is that the
panopticon acts directly on the individuals and shapes them by controlling power relations in
individuals and groups of individuals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, prisons are routinely allowed to be toured by the public and by reporters. This can
lead to reform and changes and allows the panoptic system to be even more flexible and adaptable
to change. Personally I believe panoptic surveillance in certain contexts and in certain amounts
ahas lead to me developing my own self discipline and self regulation. I believe in general I run
under the principle of Do What you believe is right even if no one is watching . This is in spite of
the fact that even if no one is watching me or that I am not under surveillance that I would still
act as if I was being watched and that I was under surveillance. Often times I find myself in
situations in which the fact that I ve been exposed to the concept of the panopticon so much in
schools (ex: hall monitors, surveillance cameras, etc.) and in life that I feel the need to still act
according to what I would act while under observation or surveillance. Eventually my behaviors
disciplined under panoptic systems become ingrained into my own self to the point at which I
regulate my own behavior at all times in such a manner. I tend to say excuse me to myself
whenever I burp as per social rules and expectations. But I will still even do this when I am just by
myself as opposed to
The Human Genome Project Paper
Science is an astonishing, intellectual field; it teaches humans about life and allows them to alter
it in order to reap desirable results. The diligence and intellect of scientists who are able to rework
the human body has contributed to the sharing of many beautiful and tear jerking stories about
babies who have been born and patients who have survived. As technology and knowledge about
the body increases, people begin to question how much we should use our intelligence to change the
bodies that God has created. However, within the medical sphere, specifically with the process of
modifying genes, scientists should use their God given gift of intellect to control the evil, residing in
the form of diseases, that would otherwise destroy all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Economic Indicators Paper
Economic Indicators Paper

What does it mean when someone refers to the health of an economy? Furthermore, how can one
classify an economy? Americans love to quantify data. Because of this inherent need to compare
data, economists have developed a way to collect nearly every type of statistics that may reveal the
general health of the economy. These statistics actually tell if the economy is productive and
efficient or if it is slow and inefficient. Included in these statistics are Gross Domestic Product
(GDP), Consumer Price Index (CPI), Unemployment Rate, Retail Sales, Producer Price Index (PPI),
and Personal Income. Included in this paper, Team A defines the preceding six indicators, and
describes their status. Additionally, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many indicators that have been developed to measure inflation. The CPI measures
inflation as experienced by consumers through their everyday expenses. The Producer Price
Index (PPI) measures inflation during the early stages of business development, such as
production and sales. The best measure of inflation for a given application depends upon how
one intends to use this data. CPI allows businesses to adjust prices based upon a comparison of
the current cost of a defined set of goods and/or services to the cost of those same goods at a time
in the past. It is also, the best measure to use to translate retail sales and hourly earnings into real
or inflation free dollars (2005). The CPI is the most widely used measure of inflation and is
sometimes viewed as an indicator of the effectiveness of government economic policy. It provides
information about price changes in the Nation s economy to government, business, labor, and
private citizens and is used by them as a guide to making economic decisions. In addition, the
President, Congress, and the Federal Reserve Board use trends in the CPI to aid in formulating
fiscal and monetary policies.
Retail Sales Retail sales, represent an important component in the economy. Products sold by
companies, such as Target and local retail stores are tracked and reported to the Census Bureau. The
Census Bureau compiles this data on a monthly basis
Hawthorn Research Paper
Hawthorn Berries

Hawthorn is a medicinal, flowering shrub found mostly in northern Europe. These days, though, due
to its medicinal properties, it is now being grown throughout the globe. Its red berries are often
called haw and have been used both in the kitchen and in many traditional medicine practitioners
clinics. Hawthorn berries have been used all the way back in the first century.
Now that you know how long these berries have been trusted and used by a lot of traditional
medicine practitioners and their patients, you might wonder why they like using it so much.
The berries of hawthorn contain phytonutrients (both proanthocyanidins and anthocyanidins. These
are antioxidants that have lasting therapeutic effects including blood vessel wall strengthening. The

Caution
Before you begin taking hawthorn, be sure to consult your doctor. There are certain prescription
medications that could react to it. Examples are medications for high blood pressure such as beta
blockers and the calcium channel blockers. Male enhancers which dilate the blood vessels should
not be taken together with hawthorn.
Hawthorn is a safe supplement for many adults. There are rare side effects such as minor headaches,
upset stomach and nausea but, other than these, there are no debilitating effects.
Dosage
Preferable dosage for hawthorn is anywhere from 500 to 1,500 milligrams each day. The extract
form can be taken for as long as you think you need it.
Talk to your doctor if a child is going to use hawthorn to treat any medical condition.
Botanical Uses
The Greek physician Dioscorides recorded that he used hawthorn on many of his patients. This is
also an effective diuretic for bladder and kidney disorders. Those who are having problems
stimulating their appetite should consider hawthorn supplementation.
People who suffer from nervousness, stress and sleep disorders can also use
Stereotypes Against African Americans And Ballet
In my opinion, the stereotypes held against African Americans and ballet are ridiculous. African
Americans has a vast history with dance, so they could easily master the art of ballet. On the other
hand, I am not surprised these prejudices were made due to the multitude of stereotypes towards
African Americans in general. Thankfully, there are multiple successful African Americanballet
dancers to disprove these stereotypes. Even today, there are modern day ballerinas like Misty
Copeland and Michaela DePrince disproving these stereotypes.

One stereotype used against African Americans and ballet is that African Americans were too docile
for the demands of ballet techniques. There is evidence to refute this claim. A piece of evidence is

Telomeric Functions and Relationship with Age and the Mutations Affecting Children with
Hutchinson Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS)
Author: Monica Peña

Introduction
Telomeres function as a means of protection for chromosomes. In DNA replication, the telomeres of
a chromosome cannot be replicated, resulting in chromosomes becoming shortened over time
(Vidak, 2016). This characteristic of telomeres gives great insight to the importance of functions of
telomerase and telomeres on chromosomes, the impact telomeres have on aging, and the origin of
RNA in telomerase. Telomere functionality and defects in regulation can also give great
understanding to aging diseases in children such as Hutchinson Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS).

Functions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When telomeric length reaches a level where it is too short, the cell undergoes senescence and/or
apoptosis (Pierce, 2012). Telomerase prevents this cell death from occurring.
During DNA replication, DNA polymerase is unable to replicate the 3 end of linear chromosomes
because replication can only proceed in the 5 to 3 direction and requires a primer (Garavis,
2013). Telomerase is able to recognize the presence of the G rich repeat sequence. It elongates he
strand in the 5 to 3 direction and adds additional repeats, using the RNA template in the enzyme
as it moves past the template strand. DNA polymerase, which carries a DNA primase as one of its
subunits, completes the lagging strand. This step successfully completes original information at
the ends of linear chromosomes (Garland Science, 2009). Without telomerase, telomeres would
shorten, resulting in aging. The shortening of telomeres as a person ages leads to higher
likelihood of heart disease, bone problems, cancer, and the more obvious, aged skin (Chojnowski,
2015). This process can be observed in Figure 1. Figure 1: Represents a step by step process of the
function of telomerase in DNA replication. In the first step, the G rich strand can be seen. Telomerase

Assess the View That Social Class Differences in...
Assess the view that social class differences in educational achievement are the result of school
processes such as labeling. (20 marks) Labelling refers to meanings or definitions we attach to
someone or something to make sense of them and these could be negative or positive labels. For
example, in schools teachers are likely to label middle class pupils as bright and more able to
achieve in education whereas, they would see working class pupils as less able. Teacher labels can
affect a pupil s educational achievement as it will influence how they perform educationally.
However, there are other school factors which cause underachievement and these are, the self
fulfilling prophecy, streaming and pupil subculture. There have been a... Show more content on

For example, teachers may give a negative label to a working class pupil and see them as badly
behaved as a result, the pupil would accept that label and live up to it. Therefore, pupils given
negative labels may see themselves as failures and give up trying consequently, fulfilling the
original prophecy. Some sociologists would argue that streaming can affect a pupil s educational
achievement. Streaming refers to separating children into different ability groups or classes
called streams . Each group is then taught separately, according to their ability for all subjects. In
Becker s study, teachers did not see working class children as ideal pupils and were seen as
lacking ability therefore, they were placed in a lower stream. This leads to self fulfilling prophecy
as pupils except their teachers low expectations by under achieving. For example, Douglas found
that children placed in a lower stream at the age of 8 suffered a decline in their IQ score by the age
of 11. In addition, sociologists would argue that pupil subcultures affect the pupils educational
achievement. For example, the pro school subculture contains pupils who have been placed in higher
streams and are committed to school values. Theses pupils are more likely to be middle class
therefore they tend to achieve in education. However, the anti school subculture contains

interior design has been something I ve loved for quite some time. With interior design, you have
the ability to completely alter someone s life by designing a room or some sort of space for
them. At FIDM I would work closely amongst others studying in interior design or other similar
majors to take full advantage of my education. With the college being strategically located in the
heart of Los Angeles, I would have lots and lots of resources and opportunities as an interior
design student and I hope to put them all to great use. After completing my 4 year bachelor s
degree I hope to delve right into a job in the interior design/decorating field. Taking advantage of
my location, there will be a lot of opportunities job related for me. In 10 or so years I would love

Anthropology And Forensic Anthropology
In recent years, a crime scene investigation is becoming more complex and sophisticated, thanks to
the advancement of science and technology, now there are many more resources for research, which
is why Forensic Anthropology has also changed and has come a long way in assisting medical and
legal specialists in identifying unidentified human or not human remains. But, what is Forensic
Anthropology? Anthropology is a science that has many subfields. One of them is Physical
Anthropology, and Forensic Anthropology is a practical application of this subfield, that specializes
in the identification of human skeletal remains for legal purposes (Haviland et al, 8). According to
the American Board of Forensic Anthropology (ABFA), Forensic anthropology is the application of
the science of physical or biological anthropology to the legal process. Physical or biological
anthropologists who specialize in forensics primarily focus their studies on the human skeleton. M.Y.

In general, the nature of human remains and physical evidence that a forensic anthropologist can
examine to obtain relevant information covers a wide range, from something as small as a single
tooth or bone fragment, to something much greater as body segments or a complete skeleton. In
the legal field, the identification of skeletal remains is important in solving a crime, but moreover,
it also serves as support for other aspects, such as the case of an inheritance, marital status of a
person for legal purposes, as well as humanitarian reasons, in case of accidents, natural disasters,
wars, where people want to know what really happened to their loved ones, instead of the
uncertainty whether they are alive or not, people would prefer to bury them and grieve before
