Heavy Metal Music Analysis
Music wakes us up in the morning, makes us want to dance, soothes us when we are feeling sad,
and gets on some folks nerves in the elevator. From infancy to adulthood music is an important part
of our lives. Mothers sing lullabies to babies, toddlers and children play ring around the rosy, and
teenagers become absorbed in songs they believe help better define them during their rocky
transition into adulthood. Musiccan summon a wide range of emotions, most of which are wonderful.
Yet there is some music that communicates harmful health messages, especially when it reaches a
vulnerable audience. Music is but one part of our popular culture. Whatever impact music has on
behavior is bound to be complex and variant. The best way to determine... Show more content on

The lyrics contain references to sex, drug use, suicide, Satanism, and other violence. From a listeners
standpoint the lyrics are loud and the music is guitar driven. The lyrics are sometimes hard to
understand and open to interpretation. Rap lyrics are chanted in cadence. Rap lyrics are
accompanied by rhythmic music that may include scratching or spinning. Scratching is dragging a
phonograph needle across a record. The lyrics of rap music contain objectionable language, often
relating to the problems of urban life and include themes of sex, drug use, misogyny, or violence
(Fishoff 805). My concern is not with popular music, or even with a particular genre, such as heavy
metal or rap. My concern is with those songs that glorify violence, racism, murder, mayhem, and
condone the abuse of women. I am not emphasizing any type of censorship, but I am emphasizing
some type of responsibility or citizenship. Music is important to this culture and it s identity. Music
helps define social and sub cultural boundaries. Today s culture face far more difficulties and dangers
than there counterparts did just a generation ago. Over the last thirty years, violent juvenile crime
has jumped by more that five hundred percent (United States Senate, Committee on Governmental

Wearing A Seat Belt Is Worth It
Now people may tell themselves that they know they should wear a seatbelt, but is it really worth
it? The answer is yes, it is worth it. Your life is worth it, and putting yourself at risk makes you a
careless person. In 2012, 7,500 teens and young adults between the ages of 16 24 were killed in a car
crash. 60% were not wearing a seatbelt out of 34,080. Every 16 minutes, someone dies in an
accident and about 89 people lose their lives each day. Wearing a seatbelt slows your body down and
decreases how far your body goes before it stops and wearing a seatbelt prevents you from flying
out of the car and decreases the chance of damaging your body. People think that since they are
only going a short distance, they don t need a seatbelt because it s not like they re going to get
into an accident for the three blocks they re traveling to. They re wrong about that. Studies show
that 50% of fatal accidents happen near their home or workplace. As a car is going 55 MPH and it
hits a solid object, the rest of the car is still going 55 MPH even when a car frame has stopped.
While the rear end is going 35 MPH, your body is still traveling at 55 MPH. Seatbelts saved around
13,941 lives in 2015 and it could ve saved 2,814 more people if they were wearing a seatbelt. In
this world, people take seatbelts for granted. It s the one thing that can save your life in a car crash
and it is also the one thing that people abuse. Not wearing a seatbelt can lead you into being thrown

The Effects Of Mass Media And Communication On The Society
Media Message
Introduction
Behavioral sciences play a central role in figuring out the likely effect of mass media and
communication in the society. Different theories and approaches are used to figure this out. This
study refers to the Uses and Gratifications, and Cultivation theories to consider the effect of the
media article below on individuals. The uses and gratification theory argues that consumers of a
given media uses this media to satisfy and fulfill specific desires and needs. On the other hand,
cultivation theory holds that heavy exposure to a certain media can cause an individual to have an
illusory perception of the life reality based on the most consistent and repetitive message that is
given in this media (Fourie, 2011).

interest rate that is less than one per cent in the UK mortgage market. According to the article,
HSBC, which is one of the leading banks in the United Kingdom, is planning to launch its less than
one per cent mortgage loan. The article analyses the requirements that an interested borrower will be
required to fulfill in order to benefit from it. Despite the low interest that the mortgage will attract,
the article warns that the recalculation of the charges that comes along with this mortgage reveals

Samuel Sewall Diary
Selected excerpts from Collections of the Massachusetts Historical Society, this source were short
part of Samuel Sewall s diary. The first one is from back 1692 and the last one is around 1693.
With reading his diary, even thought it s just some parts, you can learn a lot about people of that
time perspective at the witchcraft and how much they were afraid of it.
He talked about the court and how the judge and the jury were putting the suspect under pressure till
he or she confess that they re witches. The interesting thing is that from all the people that he
mentioned, just one of them, Dorcas Hoar, was the one who confessed that he was a witch, while
most of the people either stayed quite or said that they re innocent.
The other interesting
Sports Participation Of The World
In a day of technology, most kids being born into the world are almost born with a sixth sense
which is how to use any type of technology. With the millions of different things you can do with
technology most kids spend way too much time using their devices. Due to all this technology
use kids don t seem to be outside playing and having fun as they once did. Kids use to be always
outside playing sports and running around with their friends but since the rapid evolution of
technology kids have sadly started to stay inside. According to the 2005 GSS, boys aged 5 to 14
are still more likely to participate in sports than girls the same age, but the gap is narrowing.
Sports participation of boys has declined from 66% in 1992 to 56% in 2005. Over the same time
period, sports participation of girls has changed little from 49% to 45%. These statistics can
easily be blamed on the evolution of technology. This essay is going to persuade you on why
every kid should play team sports throughout their later years of elementary school and through
high school. Most kids growing up in the 90 s and early 2000 s were always outside running
around and playing with their friends. The kids didn t only do this because it was fun but because
it was one of our only sources of entertainment growing up and even though technology was around
it was as advanced as it is today. Team sports is one of the main things these kids would be doing all
the time. It benefited kids in numerous ways that not only
Similarities Between Death And The King s Horseman
African tribes and their traditions were often challenged by the European nations during the
colonialism and imperialism process. The tribes often adapted to the European customs and became
less of its traditional self as the European influence became greater. Some of the changes were for the
better, like better medical care and more industrialism. However, most of the changes uprooted the
pre existing social structure and, inevitably, the local government system with it. This often caused
civil unrest and political instability as many Africans attempted to retain the traditions that was once
prominent in the society. However, the traditional systems slowly faded away with the introduction
of more efficient and more European accepted systems.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This presents a problem, because the king s horseman must also die if the king dies. However,
this practice is obscure to the British, who are imperializing the society. The practice of taking
your own life for the act of duty was very strange to the British due to suicide being feared in their
own society. The British offer him new opportunities and Elesin consummates a marriage early in
the play, both of which give him reasons to not fulfil his duty. The Praise Singer feared that
Elesin would not be strong enough to take his own life. The Praise Singer believed that fear will
not depart from me the darkness of this new abode is deep (50 Wole). The Praise Singer believed
that the British society had corrupted Elesin from doing fulfilling his duty. With the British
society, Elesin would be able to live and to thrive under new leadership roles. However, the longer
he does not fulfill his duty the more his life deteriorates around him. At one point in the play the
entire tribe believed Elesin was dead and that he fulfilled his job, but when he is discovered to be
alive he is thrown in jail. There he learns that his son killed himself to fulfill the duty Elesin should
have fulfilled. Then Elesin kills himself to finally fulfill his duty, honor his society s and to pay

The Occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains
The Occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains

In his collection of criticism on Poe s stories, Thompson discusses the use of the occult in A Tale of
the Ragged Mountains. He begins the article by explaining that this story might be the product of
Poe s fascination with, but detached attitudes toward, the pseudoscientific occultism of his age. He
gives us some technical terms for the techniques that Poe uses in this story: metempsychosis is the
transmigration of souls, and is the word that surfaces frequently throughout this discussion of
Ragged Mountains. First Thompson discusses the idea that Poe set up the tale in a very specific
way; as he puts it, Poe himself wove a web for the purpose of unraveling. He ... Show more content

However, Thompson quotes Sidney E. Lind s ideas on the story. Lind believes that this is not
really a realistically handled tale of the supernatural, but ... a psychological tale based on the
possibilities of occult science. Basically, he is suggesting that Poe is merely speculating about what
his readers might want to read, and is not really writing a tale based on his beliefs of the supernatural.

Thompson then goes on to say that Lind discusses Ragged Mountains as an ambiguous but simple
hoax. All of the characters in the story are deceived, as is the reader of the tale if he misses the clues
and takes the psychological tale as a supernatural one. Poe has written the tale as a psychological
thriller, not an eerily spooky, other worldly story. Also supporting this idea of the story being a
hoax is the fact that there are numerous similarities between this story and one by Charles Brockden
Brown titled Edgar Huntley. The coincidences are too numerous to mention, but they are easily seen
if one reads both of the story. By almost plagiarizing this tale, Thompson claims that Poe is
burlesquing, even parodying, Edgar Huntley. It appears as if Thompson is trying to suggest that this
is not really a serious story. One final, interesting note is the presence of the hyena in the story.
Where Edgar Huntley uses panthers in his story, Poe has used a hyena running
Advantages Of Self-Service Technologies
Self Service Technologies are the technologies which make customers operate the service by
themselves without the helping of employees (Meuter et al. 2000). Currently, SST has already
been used in online operation which is familiar to customers, they always shopping(Childers et al.
2001), buy tickets or reserve a service by using company s official websites. It is more convenient
because it is not limited by the location and time, consumers could operate at any time. Moreover,
SST is also adapted in the offline procedures. For example, the Automatic Teller Machine when
people withdraw the money, the self service machine in the kiosk when people buy the goods, and
also the stores for the customers to purchase in the offline store, etc. The advantage of SST is that it
could recognize customers preferences and provide the customized services for them in the next
time. Therefore, SST is a new way which replaces the traditional method to serve customers, it not
only benefits customers but also the corporate. In some way, the easy process of service could
reduce the cost for the company(Carline,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the method to attract customers to keep interest in using SST is the most important stage
of the application of SST. Some authors focus more on how customers use and adapt the SST by
studying the factors of habit, self Efficacy, and satisfaction(Wang, C., Harris, J., Patterson, P., 2013).
It could be better for the company to know customers acceptance of SST in terms of consumers
point of view. Moreover, some other researchers identified the approaches of adoption of SST from
the sight of the company. Stockdale, R. (2007) focus more on how to manage the customer
relationship in the self service environment of e tourism. It is important to keep a good relationship
with the customers, in that case, customers would keep a good mouth to the company which could
benefit the company a
Race And Race In Heart Of Darkness
Heart of Darkness is a text which was written during the apartheid era when white supremacy used
to colonise people of colour. It centres mostly around the protagonist Marlow who is on his
journey to Congo. Race is explained by (colin,2013), as a group of people who share similar
physical characteristics such as colour of skin and hair texture , who are considered as fitting in
the same sort, or the fact of belonging to such a group. Power can be explained as the ability to
control other people. In this essay I am going to discuss the relationship between raceand power in
Heart of Darkness.
Each individual has his/her own race. For example, in heart of darkness, there are Russians, Black
Africans and whites. Many people who fear the topic of race normally ignore the fact that there
are different races in life, instead they say there is only one race which is human race. Such topic
are mostly ignored yet they still have an impact in our daily life. Well, not every white supremacy
used to ignore the case of race even in the past. In (condrad 1902,3) white men see themselves as
more sophisticated and that they have urbanised minds and are educated. Whenever the race topic
arises, people of colour recall how bad they were treated because of their race. This ... Show more

This man disappeared into the bush to save his life because nobody seemed to care about him
after he was beaten up. I would say that even if some of the men of his race wanted to help him,
they couldn t because they would get themselves in trouble with Kurtz. In heart of darkness, Kurtz
had power even in his last days of his life. The fact that he was used to being feared made him
control people even when he was ill because he still demanded respect from them. He was not

Tammany Hall Speech Ideas
People of New York, I have come to you today to address a problem that has plagued all of New
york for centuries. Beginning in the gilded age of 1870, the state government reacted to you, the
people. However, they reacted based on avarice and individual interests. One of the central
influences in the government during the New York gilded agewas the democratic, political party
Tammany Hall. This party was founded by Tweed Williams, a poorly taught democrat who went
to jail for stealing roughly 25 45 million dollars from taxpayers in 1877. He was able to do this to
the people because he had friends higher up who gave him the power to access the banking
industries and bribe people with money and jobs to stay in office. He stole this money from men,
women, and children to spend on himself, while the people he was supposed to represent lay in
poverty. Tweed was essentially tearing the money out of your pockets, taking the bread off your
dinner table, and all the while, smiling right at you while he took your votes. Adding on, the local
government was supposed to be regulated by these political parties. However, they too were trying
to get power and succeeding due to lack of regulations from the people.... Show more content on
