Tinnitus Research Paper
What is it?
Tinnitus means tinkling or ringing like a bell . Tinnitus is a physical condition, experienced as
ringing, buzzing, whistling, hissing or clicking in the ears or head. This occurs when there is no
external noise present. Tinnitus is not a serious disease but can sometimes be a symptom to an
underlying problem. There are two types of tinnitus: subjective tinnitus and objective tinnitus.
Subjective tinnitus is when only you can hear the noises. This is the most common type of tinnitus.
Objective tinnitus is when your doctor can hear the noises when he/she does an examination. The
most common form of tinnitus is a constant, high pitched ringing. The sensory loss of certain sound
frequencies can cause the brain to change how it processes sound. As the brain receives less
external noise of a certain frequency, it begins to adapt and change. Tinnitus can be the brain s way
of filling in the lost frequencies it doesn t receive from its auditory system. ... Show more content on

Tinnitus is caused by a variety of things. The most common cause is damage and loss of the
sensory hairs in the cochlea. This often happens when people age but can also be the result of
prolonged exposure to excessively loud music. Other causes of tinnitus include: head and neck
injuries, ear infections, traumatic brain injury, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Subjective
tinnitus is caused by problems in the outer, middle or inner ear. Objective tinnitus is caused by
blood vessel problems, muscle contractions or middle ear bone
Abortion Should NOT Be Legal In The United States
Because this is a first essay, it seems only appropriate that I introduce to you about what you should
expect from now in the future.
I am a teenager, of average weight, 5 9 tall, and wear glasses. I have dark brown to black hair, dark
brown eyes, wear size 10.5 in shoes, and wear a size small to medium depending on the brand of the
shirt.
Objects that I am incredibly fond of are sweets, such as chocolate and caramel, strawberry and
chocolate milk, ice cream of any flavor, and cookies with milk. I am also fond of colorful sunsets
and sunrises, spending time with friends, the feeling of clothes freshly out of the dryer, and the
smooth top of a brand new jar of peanut butter.
I personally believe that same sex marriage should be legal while abortion should not be legal to
certain extents. I oppose raising taxes but agree with giving citizenships to certain immigrants. For
example, ones who don t cause any crime and entrepreneurs who promote our economy. I disagree
with provisions such as ones that force citizens to have health insurance but agree with having the
Death Penalty as a form of punishment for criminals. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Police officers shouldn t be treating people of color inferiorly. They are just like every other
person on this earth and should not be treated as if they automatically were criminals. On the
other hand, people shouldn t be harming and killing cops for the actions of a few flawed cops.
Most police officers are there to help and protect the community and everyone inside of it. They do
not want to cause any harm and only want to help. However, the thing that irritates me the most is
how people judge one another just by their appearance. Take homeless people for instance. Have
you seen the videos of how people would just walk straight past a homeless person in serious need
yet they give money to girls holding up signs for makeup? That alone just infuriates
How Cooperative Learning Impacts Higher Order And Critical...
The challenge this researcher faces lies in the structure of a particular Accelerated Math II (10th
Grade) curriculum at Lucy C. Laney High School in Augusta, Georgia, in which all students enrolled
in the course have to be proficient in all areas of the curriculum. The researcher has observed very
little higher order/critical thinking and problem solving and low motivation/morale which may
impact student performance in the math course. After a year of intense coursework, including real
world application practice, and many short answer and multiple choice assessments, students show
minimum performance on an accelerated curriculum provided to them. This challenges the
instructional efforts of the teacher to increase the performance and promote higher order thinking in
the math class. Therefore the purpose for this study is to determine if cooperative learning impacts
higher order/critical thinking skills and student achievement. Review of the Literature Cooperative
learning is one of the best studied academic strategies in the history of educational research, with
over 1,000 research studies on the subject dating as far back as 1898 (Stanne, Johnson Johnson,
1999). There are so many studies, in fact, that the most easily to get to point of entry into the
literature is meta analyses of large numbers of studies. The most important piece of information is
that cooperative learning models have been established to have an obviously positive impact on
student achievement.

The Tunnel By William Gass
Some people believe that lies will always be bitter in the end, no matter how sweet you make them
in the beginning. In William Gass The Tunnel, he expounds the validity of this belief by taking the
reader on an emotionally evolving journey, as he recounts the self realization of a young boy, who s
frightening lie unravels in front of not only his own eyes, but also the readers. Gass successfully
enriches this story with striking imagery, symbolism, and comparisons; exposing how no matter how
sweet you make a lie in the beginning, it will always turn bitter in the end.
The first paragraph plays an imperative role in the excerpt, for it introduces the reader to the
emotional despondency of the boy. William Gass successfully strikes the reader from the
beginning, for his two word opening, lime slush (line 1), prompts the reader to not only envisage a
lime slush, but also taste its sugary sweetness. However, the sweetness this imagery provides is
short lasting, for they are soon bombarded with countless caesuras, as he describes how slush is
supposed to be water. That s what slush is. It certainly isn t sherbet! It wasn t a nice green. And there
didn t seem to be that much of it. (lines 2 3). The disappointment that entrenches the boy in these
short but concrete statements, successfully introduces the reader to his emotional bitterness, for not
even the lime slush s sweetness can sweeten it. The colour imagery does not stop there, for he
describes how strawberry always
Differences Between Iroquois Constitution And Us Constitution
Constitutions have been around for many years. The first ones on record go back as far as the
fifteenth century. There are many uses for them, though often enough are used to outline laws and
basic rights of the people under that government. Two very different, yet very alike constitutions are
the Iroquois and the United StatesConstitutions. They have many differences, but just as many
similarities. Often constitutions follow along the same lines, but the Iroquois and U.S. Constitutions
were made quite differently. The cause of many differences is that they were made in different
centuries. Things had changed during the time between these two constitutions. The Iroquois
Constitutionwas made some time between the fifteenth and sixteenth century, while the U.S.
Constitution was made September 17 in 1787. Not only is this the cause of many differences, but in
my opinion it is the biggest difference. Another difference is how they were written. The Iroquois
Constitution was written in first person throughout the entire document. Meaning the writer of this
constitution often uses I , I am Dekanawidah and with the Five Nations confederate lords I plant the
Tree of the Great Peace. (24). While on the other hand the United States Constitutionwas written
third person. All legislative Powers herein shall be vested in a Congress of the United... Show more

One thing they have in common is authority; each of the documents contain authority as some point
or another. Though the U.S. Constitution has a bit more than the Iroquois. There shall you sit and
watch the council fire of the confederacy of the Five Nations... (24). The Constitutions proclaims, No
Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed. (archives.gov, The Constitution of the United
States: A Transcription). The United States Constitution contains many other statement like this one;
and some with even more
Essay Meriwether Lewis the Leader
Lewis the Leader Meriwether Lewis is the main reason that the United States territory extends
from the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Pacific Ocean ( Meriwether Lewis 2). He has done
many great things, but he is best known for exploring the American West (1). He was a great man
full of bravery. Meriwether faced tons of dangers in his life but he overcame all of them. Lewis
helped change the face of the United Statesby exploring uncharted territory the American West (
Meriwether Lewis 2).
Lewis had a very interesting life and he showed it in a countless number of ways. According to

Lewis was very brave when he fought off a group of Blackfeet Indians after being attacked (1). The
Corps stayed over the winter at Oregon after they reached the Pacific Ocean and then returned home
to complete their approximately 8,000 mile journey. When the group returned Thomas Jefferson was
excited and he payed Lewis with a salary, 1,600 acres of land, and he was named governor of the
Louisiana Territory. Sadly he died on October 12, 1809, near Nashville Tennessee, where he
committed suicide, but some people think he may have been murdered (2).
Meriwether Lewis had some outstanding ideals that he pursued in his lifetime and he showed
several examples of these ideals. According to Frances Hunter, Lewis was a mason which is not
really a religion but it supports a supreme being. Frances Hunter also states that he gave a sermon
for the death of Charles Floyd and the Corps of Discovery celebrated Christmas with dancing and a
feast. Gary Moulton says that Meriwether told the Native Americans the two groups should remain
friends and Thomas Jefferson would watch over them (223). Lewis wanted to explore America and
he reached his goal by being hardworking and determined (222b).
Meriwether Lewis should be in the history hall of fame because he did many great things for
America and contributed to its expansion. Gary Moulton believes he claimed the Oregon region for
America (222b). Lewis led to
The Importance Of Attacks In America
Almost all military personnel had been recalled from bases around the world to assist in domestic
relief efforts. Entire cities up and down both coasts had been wiped off the map. I was stationed at
a refugee center near Dallas when Black announced his candidacy for President. I was at another
refugee center, on the outskirts of what used to be Los Angeles, two years later when he declared
martial law and announced mandatory chip identification for all residents after a terrorist attack and
an assassination attempt. I was no idiot and, given the sequence of events, there were plenty of
clapboards hailing Black as the Antichrist. Of course, he doubtlessly was. Everybody with half a
brain at least suspected it. But when he made pacts with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All over the world, economies were crashing. Power was being consolidated among the few
remaining large powers. The Middle East was still famous for its terror and strife, and Joshua
Black, at some point, decided to revisit the old plan of putting an end to it once and for all.
Unfortunately, this time there was no coalition. This time it was the U.S., China, and Russia
squaring off in the desert trying to take control and keep control before any of the others could
act. I was on the other side of the world, too old to participate in combat, but in a guard post
somewhere near Denver when Armageddon began. It was a no holds barred fight. All the major
players hit one another with everything they had, and everything they had worked well. The
devastation was complete. Several cities across the globe were bombed either conventional or
nuclear, nobody knew for sure. By the end of it, well nigh all life and material objects alike on the
Eastern hemisphere had turned to ash. We also, suffered the fallout on the west side; the sky got
dark, the air became frigid, winds howled day and night. Everyone acknowledged it to be the end
of the world. By now, nobody not even the most passionate non believer could deny what had just
occurred. But there was nothing to do for it, except to keep on moving. The pitiful number of us left
became fewer still. Some wandered off into the dark gloom, others
How Crohn s Disease Changed My Life
They say Crohn s Disease is not very common, so when my sister and I got diagnosed with it in
the same year, all I could think was why me? . Crohn s Disease is an autoimmune disorder that
affects a person s intestines. It can be very life threatening in some cases, and just a slight
annoyance in other cases. It affects what I can and cannot eat, and I have to go to the hospital
every six weeks for remicade treatments. Crohn s Disease changed my life in many ways, both
positive and negative. Starting off a little negative, Crohn s Disease made me very careful of what
foods I put in my body. It honestly made me scared to eat at first when I was still in the hospital. I
spent pretty much the whole month of October in 2014. It was absolutely
Critical Analysis of The Indifferent by John Donne Essay
Critical Analysis of The Indifferent by John Donne
The Indifferent by John Donne is a relatively simple love poem in comparison to his other, more
complicated works. In this poem, he presents a lover who regards constancy as a vice and
promiscuity as the path of virtue and good sense (Hunt 3). Because of Donne s Christian background,
this poem was obviously meant to be a comical look at values that were opposite the ones held by
Christians. According to Clay Hunt, [ The Indifferent ] is probably quite an early poem because of
the simplicity and obviousness of its literary methods, its untroubled gaiety, and its pose of
libertinism, which all suggest that Donne wrote [the poem] when he was a young man about town in

This is first introduced in the last line of the first stanza, and continues throughout the entire poem.
The speaker desires a solely sexual relationship with his women, and he believes that such a
relationship cannot exist if they are truthful to one another. According to Eleanor McNees, Donne
realizes that erotic license is irreconcilable with norms of truth and troth (207). Over the first stanza,
the speed of the rhythm also increases with the importance.
There is a rhythmic progression from the even, steady movement and moderate stresses of the
opening lines to the slower pace, the stronger stresses, and sharply defined metrical pattern of her,
and her, and you and you, and finally the very heavy accents on any and true in line 9 (Hunt 5).
In the second stanza, the speaker continues upon the theme of faithfulness being a vice, and sexual
promiscuity being a virtue. The sexual tone which was suggested in the first stanza in the anti
romantic details of
spongy eyes and dry cork is intensified by the connotations of the words
know and rob me ; and the sexual pun on the word travail in the following line (Hunt 5). The speaker
is trying to convince the women that he is talking to that promiscuity is a good thing and that neither
he, nor the women should be faithful to their mate. This is evident in the lines:
Will no other vice content you? . . .
Or doth a fear that men are true, torment you?

Contestants In Survivor Psychology
The television show Survivor focuses on a group of strangers in an isolated location, where they
compete in challenges for rewards and immunity from being eliminated, as well as having to provide
shelter, food, and fire for themselves. The winner is decided by a vote from the eliminated
contestants, also known as the jury. Contestants are voted off at tribal council, but have the chance
to be immune from the vote through immunity challenges. Contestants in Survivor are affected
physically, psychologically, and emotionally by things they can and can t control. For example, they
have no choice in who they are competing against, but they have some control over how much food
they have, depending on things like if they can fish or not. The... Show more content on

The producers use the disparities in age to create drama and keep their viewers entertained.
In Survivor, the players are constantly under a great amount of stress. The different types of
stress can have a huge impact on how they end up playing the game. For example, physical
stressors, such as food deprivation, also alter psychological factors such as motivation and
irritability, and can increase impulsive and aggressive behavior (Gerrig 75). In other words, the
toll of physical stress can lead to more aggressive and more impulsive players as well as affecting the
players moods. Throughout every episode there is some form of aggression. Wilson found four
different types of aggression and labelled them as, theft, verbal aggression, minor aggression, and
deceit (9). He defines each type of aggression, saying,
Theft was defined as taking the property of another person without the owner s consent or knowledge
(e.g., robbery, burglary, and larceny). Verbal aggression was any nonphysical act that places another
under duress with the intention to pressure, constrain, or persuade in a noxious manner (e.g.,
extortion, coercion, threats, abridgment of privacy, and harassment). Verbal aggression was any
hostile remark meant to diminish another s self image or cause psychological harm. Minor
aggression was any physical aggression resulting in minor harm or no harm to another, including acts
like slapping, punching, and kicking. Deceit was purposely misleading another
