Comparing The Final Girl In Psycho And A Nightmare On Elm...
Lastly, the use of the final girl in both films are very different. In Psycho, Hitchcock uses both
Marion and Lila as his final girls. Though both hold different characteristic traits, and one character
dies early in the film, Hitchcock also has a male character save the final girl against the villain rather
than having her face him alone. This differentiates against the filmA Nightmare on Elm Street
because Nancy finds her inner demons and faces Freddy Krueger alone in her dreams. She not only
grows the strength to put her fears aside but she kills him with the satisfaction that he finally means
nothing to her and that he is worthless. Craven s depiction of the final girl is much more closely
related to how this character is portrayed in slasher films now a days.
As for the similarities, both films hold a similar storyline. There is a group of young adults who are

Cunningham s 1980 film, Friday the 13th is about a group of young adult counselors Jack, Alice,
Bill, Marcie, and Ned who are looking to set up a summer camp in the woodsy area of Crystal
Lake. Despite being told by local residents about the history of murders that have occurred there,
these characters bypass the rumors and further proceed their process until they find themselves
stalked by a mass murderer. After nine body count deaths, Alice, a sweet, innocent, virgin girl, is
the sole surviving counselor or final girl who faces the vengeful mother Mrs. Voorhees. Near the
end of the movie, Alice is sitting next to the boathouse dock by the side of a lake peacefully until
Mrs. Voorhees rushes at her with a machete. Alice luckily dodges the attack and they both begin to
wrestle and fight by the lakeside until the Mrs. Voorhees is beheaded in slow motion. This not only
marks the 10th death in the film but it also demonstrates how such a sensible, good girl can quickly
change into a brave character who is not scared of a psychopath killer. Critic Jane Flame

July 21, 2015 Abstract
This paper searches how professionals in two year universities work and how they accomplish the
mission in a community college. This paper examines different aspects of the faculty to how they are
hired, competitiveness, promotions, benefits, demographics, workloads, challenges, and teaching.
The research was found through online sources, a personal interview, and textbooks. Different forms
of faculty in the community colleges should be studied to fully comprehend how they impact
students and the college itself. The findings show how the staff operates, levels of work they do,
and the gratification for these professionals. Community colleges are at a growing rate, and the
faculty members who work in them will be reviewed and explained. Research on Professionals in
Community Colleges
Introduction
Every community college plans for success by creating a vision and mission. The vision is the long
term goals of the college, and the mission is the work put in to attain that vision. The faculty
completes the work that is put in everyday and is the most important piece in the college. To meet
the vision of post secondary educational success, the college will need professionals of the highest
quality. For this reason, numerous studies have been done on the staff that fills the community
colleges and how they are the core group that makes the college what it is. The faculty
Defining Collaborative Virtual Workspaces Essay
1.Introduction
Hamilton Beazley once said Knowledge is the new capital, but it s worthless unless it s accessible,
communicated, and enhanced (Beazley cited in Field, 2003). With the advent of all the possible
tools and technologies available, especially on the internet today, accessing, communicating and
enhancing knowledge has become so much easier.
This paper aims to discuss two of these tools and technologies, namely collaborative virtual
workspaces and microblogging. These tools and technologies will be defined, how they are used,
some of their advantages and disadvantages as well as how they can be utilised in Knowledge
Management and Knowledge Management processes.

2.2Using Collaborative Virtual Workspaces
Using collaborative virtual workspaces will generally benefit an organisation by allowing the most
skilled groups to work on projects no matter where they are. This also means that expensive travel
costs can be cut, since groups can work together at any time of the day and don t need to physically
meet up with one another. It also has the effect that group members can work at times that suit them
best as they will have access to the information when they need it (ed. Young, 2010).
Group members thus aren t tied to conventional business working hours, which is especially helpful
if members are working together internationally. They decide when it is most convenient for them
and don t have to worry about the availability of others.
These virtual workspaces can also provide users with a sense of accomplishment, since they get
recognition for their work and efforts as well as allow them to be part of the decision making
process. If tasks are to be completed interdepartmentally, group members can their creativity, ideas,
and knowledge with members of other departments. The virtual workspaces thus allow for
information to be shared more freely (Lesko, Russel Hollingsworth, 2012).
Whilst these workspaces can be of great benefit to organisations, it is also very important to know
when it is best not to resort to collaborating via these virtual workspaces. Factors which may affect

Opportunities and Challenges * Any issues or opportunities your organization or industry faces that
affect its competitiveness and long term profitability with regards to your product: This may include,
but is not limited, to the following elements. * Price elasticity of demand * Technological innovation
* The relationship between the amount of labor amp; capital employed and the law of diminishing

Factors affecting variable costs
Factors affecting variable costs, including productivity and others that change the supply of and
demand for labor costs change with the number of products offered for sale. These are called
variable costs. Variable costs include the wages of sales people or other employees, raw materials,
electric power to run machines, and the cost of maintaining inventory. We believe that the lack of
alternative energy vehicles available and when high fuel costs will drive the costs at times.

Factors affecting fixed costs

Factors affecting fixed costs include costs that do not change with an increase or decrease in the
amount of goods or services produced. Fixed costs are also an expenses that has to be paid by a
company. It is one of the
Norse Mythology As A Prequel To American Gods
British author, known for his extensive work with DC universe, announced last year that he had
been working on a book about Norse mythology for three years. Norse Mythology was finally
published in the beginning this month. Neil Gaiman is not afraid to declare Norse mythology as
his favourite. His first meeting with the Norse gods was Jack Kirby s early Marvel work The
Mighty Thor and it spurred him on to learn more about the Norse mythology. Norse Mythology is
not Neil Gaiman s first introduction as a writer to Nordic gods either. His fantasy novel American
Gods (2001) has a lot of references to Norse Gods, so much that some people consider Norse
Mythology as a prequel to American Gods. In the introduction to the book, Gaiman mourns the big
Abuse Of OTC Drugs
Every year, teens and adults abuse over the counter (OTC) drugs. Drugs that are accessible
through local pharmacies and drug stores. Supplements like these are developed to help and aid
the user, however, they are abused commonly. This can lead to serious physical and mental
injuries when not used correctly. At worst cases, it results in death. In the past, many celebrities and
role models for kids such as Prince, Michael Jackson and even Drake have used or written about
using OTC drugs. Because of this, kids think it is okay to use OTC drugs and believe it is cool .
Therefore, by raising awareness of the dangers of OTC drugs, less people would be at risk and less
people would abuse over the counter drugs.
It is well known that by abusing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many households today, the dangers of drugs like alcohol and marijuana are discussed,
however, over the counter drugs are left out of the discourse. A study done by Partnership for a
Drug Free America, 2009 revealed that 15% of youth reported that the problems of OTC drugs were
discussed with their parents. By raising the number of parents that discuss the severity of OTC drug
abuse with their kids, less youths may take advantage of them. A study conducted by Davis and
Spillman (2011) revealed that parental disapproval of drug use was the second leading reason why
youth did not use drugs. Schools should work with parents and communities to address the issue of
youth substance abuse. Thus, OTC drug abuse is similar to that of other substances such as alcohol,
tobacco and marijuana. Youth substance abuse is often undertaken as a means to befriend substance
abusing peers and to be socially accepted (Mrug, Gaines, Su, Windle,
Palm Oil Growth And Sustainability
Palm Oil Growth in Peru Slows as Land Suitability and Sustainability Take Top Priority
Palm is a tree crop suited to cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of the tropical
rainforest. From 1999 to 2009, global production more than doubled. Thirty years ago, palm oil
accounted for less than 2 percent but now accounts for 37 percent of vegetable oil consumption
worldwide, and palm has displaced soy as the world s most important vegetable oil. Palm oil is used
as a biofuel, for cooking, and in a wide range of other items, including food products, cosmetics,
soaps and detergents.
Malaysia and Indonesia produce 85 percent of the world s palm oil. Expansion in these two
countries is expected to diminish by 2022, however, as land suitable for additional palm oil
production dwindles. As an alternative, developers are looking to other regions for expansion,
including Latin America. Estimates suggest that Peru has the second largest area potentially suitable
for increased oil palm production within this region.
Area Expansion
In 2003, the Peruvian government announced that the production of biofuels, including palm oil,
would be a priority. Before 2006, palm expansion in Peru was slow and occurred mainly on
already cleared land (mostly pastures and secondary growth forests, as opposed to old growth
forests.) Between 2006 and 2010, however, area doubled, and about 70 percent of all new palm
plantations during this time were established by old growth clearing.
