Input-Output Waveshape:
In this experiment, the performance of integrator and differentiator circuit was analysed using
µA741 op-amp. Basically, op-amp is said as an operational amplifier because it can perform
many mathematical operations including integration and differentiation, where integrator
circuit performs integration and other performs differentiator. In an integrator circuit, if the
input is a sinusoidal signal, the output will be a cosine wave (90° phase shift), and if input is
square, then output will be triangular wave. Also, for differentiation circuit, if the input is a
sinusoidal signal, the output will be a cosine wave (90° phase lead), and if the input is square
then output will be spike shape. While performing integrator circuit, it was quit challenging to
perform perfect 90° phase shift for input as sinusoidal wave and also tough to maintain 90°
phase lead for differentiator circuit. There were some minor differences between voltages.
Minor discrepancies were occurred because it couldn’t possible to maintain same frequency of
voltages in input terminals. Phase couldn’t perfectly maintain because of time delay.
Otherwise, the experiment successfully demonstrated the principles of integrator and
differentiator.
