FOREWORD

This book is written for the purpose of providing setting l1P instructtons
and essential information regarding installation, operation, adjustments
and lubrication for the Hydraulic Pwnp, Lift Shafts and Hydraulic Linkages
for use with the Model "G" tractor and companion implements. A close
adherence to these instructions will result in many hours of satisfactory
service and a longer operating life for these attachments.
In addition to the written material in this book, actual photographs are
used to clearly show the various parts mentioned in the setting up and
adjustment instructions.
Many owners of''Allis-Chalmers''equipment employ the Dealers Service
Departf11ent for all service requirements other th~n routine care and
adjustments. This practice is encouraged as all dealers are kept well
informed regarding advanced methods of servicing''Allis-Chalmers''
products and are equipped to render complete service.

LIFT SHAFTS

ATTACHING
Both types of lift shafts attach in the same
manner. Howeve r, when installing the Split
Type Lift Shaft it will be necessary to install
the throwout lever carriage bolts before the
hydraulic ram is placed in position.
LIFT SHAFT AND TOOL CARRIER
Remove parallel linkages (1) Fig. 1 and clamping
bolts (2) from support bar (3). Insert bolts (2)
into lift shaft bearings (4) and (5), then place lift
shaft across top of tractor frame. Place support
bar under tractor frame and clamp loosely to lift
ahaft bearings (4) and (5). Slide complete as-
sembly forward as far as possible. Square sup-
port bar with tractor frame or axle, then tighten
clamping bolts (2) securely. Attach spring anchor
to underside of tractor frame plate and secure
with bolt (6). Install spring (7) between arm on

HYDRAULIC RAM 4NI:> ANCHOR
Turn rain lmchor (11) Fig. 2 so ram attaching pin
is toward the rear, then loosely clamp anchor to
tractor frame.

before placing ram in position. Holes in trip
levers (13) are drilled off center and must be
installed witl)narrow portion of hole toward rear
as illustrated.
Remove pins fro", anchor (11) and ram arm (14).
Attach cylinder end of ram to anchor (11) and
completely collapse ram. Make certain ram arm
(14) is in contact with stop (15), then with ram
completely collapsed, slide ram anchor forward
or back until pin can be entered through arm (14)
and ram plunger •. This will provide maximum
lift. Align anchoti(l;IJ so ram and pins do not
bind, then secure\y damp anchor to tractor

side of tractor clutch housing. Install ram as
illustrated placing cylinder end of ram on pin at
top of post (18). The word "top" on end of ram is
placed on the underneath side. Attach furrowing
bar and secure with pivot bolt (19). Be sure fur-
rowing bar is free to move without binding on
pivot bolt. Install lift link (20) between lift arm
(21) and trunnion (22). When tool bars (23) are
placed in the extl.mded..position as shown, place
clamps on each side of lift link (20). When tool
bars are to be used in the sh"rt position, place
one c lamp as far forward as possible. Raise fur-
rowing bar by hand to check for possible inter-
ference, then,tighten clamps seclJrely.
OPERA TION & ADJUSTMENTS
The length of delay especially in lowering of
rear furrowing bar is affected by the relative
weight of the front and rear mounted tools. With
either light weight tools in front or extra heavy
tools on furrowing bar or both it may be desir-
able to increase the delay of lifting and lowering.
This may be accomplished by placing spring link

FACE OF HOUSING
AVOID ACCIDENTS
-
MOST ACCIDENTS, WHETHER THEY OCCUR IN INDUSTRY, ON THE
FARM, AT HOME OR ON THE HIGHWAY, ARE CAUSED BY THE FAILURE
OF SOME INDIVIDUAL TO FOLLOW SIMPLE AND FUNDAMENTAL SAFETY
RULES OR PRE:AUTIONS. FOR THIS REASON MOST ACCIDENTS CAN BE
PREVENTED BY RECOGNIZING THE REAL CAUSE AND DOING SOME-
THING ABOUT IT BEFORE THE ACCIDENT OCCURS.
REGARDLESSOF THE CARE USED IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUC-
TION OF ANY TYPE OF EQUIPMENT THERE ARE MANY CONDITIONS THAT
CANNOT BE COMPLETELY SAFEGUARDED AGAINST WITHOUT INTERFER-
ING WITH REASONABLE ACCESSIBILITY AND EFFICIENT OPERATION.

A careful operator is the best insurance against

an accident. The complete observance of one
simple rule would prevent many thousand seri-
ous injuries each year. That rule is:
Never aHempt to clean, oil or adjust a machine
while it is in motion.
