LOST
It was a hot Saturday afternoon. Sofia wanted to go to the provision
shop to get an ice cream. She does not know the way and was too young
to go alone. She went to her mother’s bedroom. Her mother was having
a nap. Her elder sister, Jehan was in the living room watching television.
Sofia asked if Jehan could go with her to get an ice cream. Jehan was ten
years old, three years older than Sofia. Jehan agreed to go with Sofia.
They quietly walked out of their house without informing their mother.
Both girls took their umbrellas and walked out the door. On their way
to the provision shop, they walked past Mdm Nadirah’s house. Mdm
Nadirah was hanging out the clothes. She waved at the two girls when
she saw them. Jehan told Sofia not to wave and keep walking.
Soon, they reached a junction and made a right turn. They
continued to walk and make another right turn. They walked for
another ten minutes and turned left at another corner. Sofia said, “This
is the way to school”. Jehan stopped and looked around. Jehan said, “I
think we are lost!” Sofia started to cry. Then, Jehan looked ahead and
saw something red moving between the buildings. Jehan had seen it
before. It was Mdm Nadirah’s dress!
Jehan calmed Sofia down and told her that she knew how to get
home. Sofia quietened down. Both girls turned left at the corner and
walked home. Within a few minutes, Jehan and Sofia reached home.
Their mother was still sleeping. Both girls heaved a sigh of relief!
