Limitations And Errors Of Acoustic Intensity
Limitations and errors in measurement of acoustic Intensity
Whoever starts making the measurement of sound intensity should have basic knowledge of its
limitations and errors. Many researchers are focusing more in identifying and studying the errors and
limitations of measurement of sound intensity, the study of errors and limitations is attracting the
researchers more to look into measurement of sound intensity. This preoccupation with errors and
limitations is not the result of a particularly gloomy disposition among the members of the intensity
community ; it results from the disturbing observation that the accuracy of sound intensity
measurements depends strongly on the sound field under study, in combination with the fact that

The phase error is often expressed in terms of the so called residual pressure intensity index, which
should be as large as possible. With high quality instrumentation and a separation distance of 12 mm
this quantity is at least 18 dB above 250 Hz. One can increase the residual pressure intensity index
by using a larger microphone separation distance, but this conflicts with the high frequency
optimisation

This is normalized error depends upon single property of sound field

In sound power measurement the error depends upon the ratio between corresponding surfaces
integrated quantities. There is pressure correction technique, which is by knowing the phase error of
the instrumentation from a measurement of the residual pressure intensity index and subtract the
error.
2.The high frequency performance of sound intensity probes.
The most fundamental limitation of the two microphone measurement principle is due to the
approximation of the pressure gradient by a difference of pressures at two closely spaced points,
this finite difference approximation obviously imposes an upper frequency limit. In principle the
finite difference error depends on the sound field in a complicated manner, but practice has shown
that the error is acceptably small if kd 1, where k is wave number and d is microphone separation
distance. One cannot expand the frequency range by using a very small separation between the
microphones since the influence of several
The Teapot Dome Scandal Of 1923-1924
1.The Teapot Dome Scandal of 1923 1924 was about Secretary of the Interior Albert Fall when he

handed a Wyoming oil reserve to the Mammoth Oil Company. This case was huge because he was
the first cabinet member to ever go to jail.

Leadership, Leadership And Leadership Development
There are two kinds of people in this world, followers and leaders. Followers are the people that
never take a leadership role in any activity. They are more valued by followers and have higher
performing teams. (Cherry 2014) However, leaders are the ones that use their leadership skills to
make a difference in this world, such as presidents, teachers, or even college graduates. Leadershipis
not something you can learn from a book, but you have to gain this skill through experiences such
as holding an office, organizing an event, speaking in front of people, or participating in a leadership
program.
If leaders are simply born that way then what is the point of leadership development. The answer
perhaps creates controversy because the answer is simply both. Clearly there are those who have
certain abilities that allow them to more easily assume leadership roles while others of us work to
develop the necessary skills. The reality is that each person is unique in their skills and abilities as
is each leader. One may be charismatic while another is empathetic, one may have clear vision
another remarkable communication skill. We all have a different mix of skills and abilities that
allow us the opportunity to lead. Genetic endowment may merely influence the rate at which domain
specific expertise is acquired without imposing any upper or lower bounds on attainment. (Simonton,
2007) While some leaders definitely have a genetic advantage on leadership, and may find
Speech On Becoming A Firefighter
Becoming a firefighter requires specific qualities such as strength, endurance, and bravery. Those
who inspire to become a firefighter must devote their time and well being to those in crisis. A
firefighter does not just hang around the station all day, instead you will have to field many calls.
When you are not working you will have to be helping out around the station. The station does not
just stay clean itself you will be assigned chores and duties you will have to follow. Being in
physical shape is also a main part of being a firefighter.
Now there is also types of fires firefighters need to know about. The first type of fire there is class A
fire. A class A fire are the most ordinary and basic type of fire. They are ordinary combustible fires
like wood, paper, cloth, trash, and plastics. Class B fires are caused by flammable liquids.
Flammable liquids for example are things like gasoline, petroleum oil, and paint. Class B fires
also include flammable gases. The gases that are in class B are things like propane and butane.
Some people might mistake fires caused by cooking oils and grease as a class B but that is not
true at all they are not considered in the category. Class C fires involve electrical equipment.
Electrical equipment such as motors not just car motors, transformers, and appliances. If you remove
the power from any of the things listed it will no longer be able to be consider as a class C fire it
will get reclassified as a different group of fire class.

Salman Rushdie s Haroun And The Sea Of Stories
In his novel, Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Salman Rushdie portrays the protagonist, Haroun, as a
hero who learns many lessons such as how freedom of speech can be a good or bad thing. These
lessons bring Haroun closer to the people he loves like Rashid and Blabbermouth. Once Haroun
finds out the truth about freedom of speech, he uses his knowledge by helping others around him. In
the novel, Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Salman Rushdie writes that speaking can be a good or
bad thing, and in order to create a perfect balance, you have to have a combination of
communication with a little silence; although freedom of speech is a right, to some it is a privilege.
During the beginning of the novel, Haroun was constantly in disbelief of his father s stories.
Without the use of communication, Rashid would ve not been able to tell the stories in the first
place. Additionally, Haroun would not of been able to express his doubting of them. While
Haroun was in disbelief, he realized that these stories cannot simply come out of thin air (17).
Haroun always portrayed a Gup because he chattered endlessly and never revealed to be afraid to
exercise his power of speech. These stories are important because they give Haroun another side to
the story to look at. It s never bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hunting Ground Case Study
Despite all the effort through campaigns, rallies and a dozen posters to prevent sexual harassment it
has continued to be a big issue in the United States. Sexual harassment is especially widespread
issue in college campuses, according to the AAUW Educational Foundation, 62% of female students
and 61% of male student s report having been victims of this form of abuse. Where most of the
harassment reports are not involving physical contact, nevertheless about one third of students are
victims of physical harassment. NOVA is strives to insure safety to its students and stuff, to do so

Last semester NOVA women s center organized to show the film the hunting Ground which lead to a
discussion about the reality of sexual assault on campuses. This event will be continual and there
will be another event in May. Even though such events are something to be appreciated the fact
remains more needs to be done. NOVA needs to incorporate trainings and programs into the school
system to educate its students on reporting, preventing and build better understanding of sexual
harassment in general. Even though traditional programs are not something to be disregarded the
statistical data we have is a proof that more change is needed. The climate survey findings will
highlight what is urgent and critical to the NOVA community. While the survey will tell us, what is
happening in our campuses the mandatory trainings will work towards addressing the issue of why
sexual misconducts are happening at the current rate. Other schools including the University of
Nebraska at Omaha, Kansas University, the Montana University system, Portland State University,
Georgetown University and the University of California Berkeley have made sexual assault
awareness training programs mandatory for students according to an article by USNEWS. Elon

Examples Of Social Pressure In The Crucible
I ve chosen to represent the theme Social Pressure in my creative piece; everything I ve shown in
my artwork has been chosen with the idea of conveying the concept of Pressure. I wanted to
explore this pressure that the entire village of Salem must have felt during the witch trials where
they had to choose to either give in to the devil, or to stand up but have everyone believe you re
against Christianity.

A key figure here is Mary Warren, the Proctors maid. She is trying to come clean and stop the
murder of innocent people, but the group of girls who were accusing the villagers had so much
control and pressured Mary Warren to re join them. I ve encapsulated this in the photo of Mary with
half of her face in light and half in darkness, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see this throughout The Crucible and then finally his fall when he is condemned. I have
represented these knocks and blows by a picture of a doll with multiple pins sticking in it to show
that after enough small blows, you will be knocked over by that pressure. It also ties to the play
where Elizabeth is accused of witchcraft for having a similar poppet with a needle stuck in it.
Much like the different techniques used by Arthur Miller to convey particular themes, I have
added subtle pieces to my artwork to show pressure at work. The image of a simple red stick
figure, standing out against the majority of blue figures shows a message of standing up for
yourself like John Proctor did. The grey rock that sits on the light side of the circle represents the
constant pressure that sits on every person in Salem as they choose the fate of them and everyone
around them. It also links back to Giles Corey who was crushed by rocks when he would not admit
to being a
The Poisonwood Bible, And The Movie
Many countries are becoming multi cultural due to the immigration of people of diverse ethnicities.
According to Statistics Canada, one out of five people in the country are immigrants, arising in a
20.6 percent of the population. This will continually increase, as new immigrants are arriving every
year into the country due to fleeing an inhospitable environment, war, or finding a better lifestyle.
There are numerous issues that immigrants encounter that create hardships for one, like Trump s ban
on Muslims immigrating into the United States. In addition, regardless the country one immigrates
to, an immigrant will encounter the hardest adversity which are sacrifices. In this independent study

This statement, relates to both families in the book and movie, as they experience culture shock in a
new environment. Both daughters perspective, shows confusion in their new home, not knowing
about the new culture they are confronted with. Overall, immigrants experience a culture shock,
when moving to another country, displaying one conflict that deal with. Being new to a country,
people tend to develop feelings of fear and frustration, with the new circumstances. For example, The
Poisonwood Bible the daughters are concerned with moving into the Congo, as the youngest
daughter, Ruth May, says, Rex Minton said we better not got to the Congo on account of the
cannibals natives would boil us in a pot and eat us up (Kingsolver 21). This excerpt demonstrates
fear that is being instilled in Ruth May being afraid that Congo citizens will not accept them, and
thinking otherwise about moving to a new country, where it is different. Having friendships and
human connections are important in a human s life. When Ruth May and her sisters cannot make
new friendships in Congo, this frustrates them. Additionally, the movie In America, portrays a
family in poverty being new to the country. In one of the scenes, the family goes to a carnival, and
they bet all their money in a game: Every cent of every penny we owned, was down for an ET doll
worth 30 dollar (Sherdian). The father and mother s
Benefits Of The Sabbath Essay
Benefits of the Sabbath Work hard, play hard is a common cliché that many people in modern
society know, but hardly ever adhere to. In a career oriented society, this saying is much like a
balance with the scale leaning significantly towards the hard work portion. For me personally, I
see tired, overworked people everywhere. When I m walking to class at my university, I can see
the exhaustion on many of the faces of the staff and the students alike. However, what many people
don t know is that there is a remedy to this overtiredness. In scripture, the Sabbath is one day of the
week that a person should do absolutely no work. The bible explains that, when creating the world,
Godworked for six days, and rested on the seventh. God instructs his people to follow in his
footsteps, and take a day to rest from the work done throughout the week. It is mentioned
throughout the bible several times, so God is very serious about keeping it holy. If God himself
is so serious about the Sabbath, then I believe his people should make a vow to keep it holy. After
all, there are many reasons that keeping the Sabbath is so important in the first place. If there is
no day of rest from work, then there is no chance of success outside of work. Let s face it, many
people, myself included, need to realize purpose does not come from work alone. Purpose is a
combination of qualities such as personality, relationships, hobbies, and interests. A person is so
much more than just their career.
The History Of Rap Music
This paper will trace the history of rap music (also known as hip hop). The origins of this music
are found in the experiences of urban African Americans during the 1970s. One of the most
unique elements of rap music is its vocal style. In 1979, the record Rapper s Delight by the Sugar
Hill Gang defined this style with its use of speedy staccato word play and verbal dexterity
(Perkins 11). However, as pointed out by one of rap s early leaders, Afrika Bambaataa, the true
roots of this vocal style are found in the previous developments of African American culture.
These developments include not only the traditional musical and storytelling styles brought over
from Africa, but also such things as the style of speech used by the civil rights leader Malcolm X.
Summing up Bambaataa s views on the roots of rap, Perkins says: The rap tradition has been
nurtured on the accumulated and residual forms of African and African American music, verbal
art, and personal style as well as the constant process of self innovation within each of these
elements (5). In addition to its unique vocal style, rap music is also characterized by its innovative
approach to creating a musical background for the lyrics. This musical style was developed in New
York City during the 1970s by various DJ s (disc jockeys) such as Kool Herc, Kurtis Blow, and
Grandmaster Caz. In particular, many people credit the New Yorker Grandmaster Flash with the
important innovation of creating a rhythmic beat
