Goals For Attending College
As a student at IUPUI i would like to accomplish a goal of obtaining a bachelors degree in
mechanical engineering. Another goal of mine is to be involved in clubs to meet people with
similar interests. I am an outstanding individual and self motivated student and expect to continue
to do so in college. My academic goals as a student have and will always be to achieve the best
grades that I can possibly obtain. I am an intelligent student and learn the best by being around
intelligent students, I also like helping people learn and grow academically. My last goal that I want
to achieve while attending collegeis to obtain a internship in my future career field in order to obtain
more knowledge in my field.

Clubs that I want to be part of are

The Issue Of Same Sex Marriage
Delilah Ramirez
Political Science 101
Civil Liberties/Civil Rights Issues
November 19, 2014
I...My chosen topic is Gay Rights more specifically marriage equality. Public opinion in the U.S.
shows the majority support for the legal recognition of same sex marriages. This issue is more
likely to be supported by women and people under 50. My thesis is that marriage equality a civil
right, rights we are born with as a citizen of the U.S. which the government cannot interfere with or
suppress. (Lecture Notes 8/27). Over the past decade, marriage equality has become an even larger
and more controversial issue. The issue of same sex marriage equality is being supported today in
33 states by the means of laws, court cases and social changes in our society.
II... The issue of equal legal right to marry for same sex couples first surfaced in court around the
1970s but was immediately rejected. In the 1990s several California lawyer s organizations
supported a proposed bill to permit same sex marriage. In 1996, President Bill Clinton signed into
law the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as being strictly between a man and a
woman, and expresses that states do not have to recognize same sex marriages that occur in other
states. In 1997, Hawaii enacts a domestic partnership legislation with limited rights for same sex
partners. That same year, anti same sex marriage laws were in place in 12 states. In Baker v. State
(1999), the Vermont Supreme Court concludes that
Cows Research Paper
Cows: Pets That Make Sense If you ask me, the only possible pet a person should have is a cow.
Cows love you, they are harmless, they look nice, they don t need a litter box, and they keep the
grass down. Cows are so trusting that you can t help but lose your heart to them. Where I live, in
Yorkshire, there is a herd of cows down the lane. You can stand by the wall any hour of the day or
night and pretty soon the cows will all waddle over to stand nearby. They aren t smart enough to
know what to do next, but they seem to be happy just to be in your presence. Mired in their
contentedness, they will stand there indefinitely. They will listen to your problems and never ask
for a thing in return. Cows will be your friends forever, and when you
Physician Assistant Exhilaration
For years I have dreamt of gaining acceptance into a Physician Assistant (PA) program to continue
my journey into medicine. The exhilaration of getting accepted into the University of South Carolina
s Physician Assistant program not only allowed this path to become real, but allowed further
planning into my future. With that being said and being the planner that I am, I became intrigued
with the options of continuing my PhysicianAssistant education once I completed the program with
potentially enrolling into a residency program. In this paper, I am going to take you through the eye
opening details of the Physician Assistant residency option, including topics such as: the history of
PA residencies, accreditation process, gaining acceptance into these programs, what these programs
entail, the pros and cons of residency programs, and my current opinion after further research.

To gain accreditation, the process is very time consuming and thus took many years and help from
a diverse group to gather. It wasn t until March of 2006 that the Accreditation Review Commission
on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC PA) awarded the option of accreditation to
physician assistant programs with residencies. To give an idea of the depth of the standards to
which each accredited program is held to, I have listed the following: having a full and active faculty
and staff team assembled, adequate funding, having access to patients to further the skill of the
student, enroll students full time with a minimum duration of 6 months, and offer clinical and
didactic training (Ballweg et al., 2013 p.
Choosing The Career Path That An Individual
My Career Path Choosing the career path that an individual is going to take is one of the most
important and most difficult decisions each of us make in our live. We start out as children,
dreaming of becoming astronauts, professional athletes, and even princess or princesses. But then
we grow older, and into the reality that the world we once knew as safe and innocent and a sky
with no limit, is really full troublesome worries, insecurities, and uncertainties. Deciding how we
desire to make our living becomes the question who am I, and who am I going to be . And this
question we struggle with, eventually find the answer and embrace it, or avoid it, move on and
abandon it. I have wrestled with that question for longer than many I m sure. I ve graduated with
one degree, gone back to school for another year, only to later change to a new major. And I m
honestly okay with all of that, because I would rather spend a couple extra years getting it right
than spending my whole life not being content with the question who am I going to be . So I ve
examined myself, and boiled all my many interests down into the essence of what I m really all
about. I love to learn and understand new things as fast as I can read or experience them. Cultures,
histories, governments and languages are my passions, and seeing how people interact within them
is one of the most exciting things that I know of. So after discovering this, I realized that what I
need to be doing with my life is
How To Read Literature Like A Professor By Thomas C. Foster
The Flood Stories In Thomas C. Foster s book, How to Read Literature Like a Professor, Foster
discusses that in every piece of literature, there is no originality. Each literary work is connected in
one way or another to a different literary work, making one story . Having striking similarities, but
being written 2000 years apart, the floodstories of Utnapishtim in The Epic of Gilgameshand Noah in
the Bible back up what Foster says. Gilgamesh in an old epic about a man named Gilgamesh and
his quest for immortality, while Noah is a not quite so old story of when Godflooded the earth. Each
story is unique in its own way with having slight differences, perhaps caused by the extensive time
period between each, but the similarities are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ea told Utnapishtim to build a boat, Of seven stories each with nine chambers (Gilgamesh 10).
The boat was also to be cube shaped and able to hold food, wine, minerals, his family, and the seed
of living animals (Gilgamesh 10). Similarly, God instructed Noah to build an ark of cypress with
rooms. It has to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high (Genesis
6:15). The ark also contained upper, middle, and lower decks, and a door on the side. Both had
been told how the boat should be built by a divine figure, but God s instructions to Noah were
different than those given to Utnapishtim. After the flood waters had ceased, both Utnapishtim
and Noah sent out a series of bird to check if it was safe to come out of their large boats and then
were rewarded for their obedience. Utnapishtim sent out a dove, swallow and raven, with whom
each found land, and Noah sent out a raven and a dove, which was sent out twice. When both men
exited their ships, their God/gods rewarded them greatly, but with different things. Enlil, the war
god blessed Utnapishtim and his family by saying, You and your wife shall be like gods. You
shall live in the distance at the river s mouth, at the source (Gilgamesh 10). For Noah, God
promised him, Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the
green plants, I now give you everything
An Analysis of Anne Bradstreet s Poem, To My Dear and...
The poem To my Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet, is not just an exceedingly felt
expression of a wife s marital love and commitment to her husband, as it is about a puritan women
who is supposed to be reserved but she makes it her obligation to enlighten her husband of her
devotion. A thorough analysis of the poem s paradox, hyperbole, imagery and repetition reveals
how she conveys her message. The opening lines of the poem show how strong her feelings are for
her husband. Bradstreet shows this by the use of a great example of a paradox, if two were one,
then surely we. This shows that the magnitude of her loveand affection is so deep that she s
comparing two beings as one. She praises her love for her husband so much... Show more content on

I m really surprised to learn that this was not common back for puritan women back then. In my
opinion, the author is very open about how she feels about her husband. You can tell that
throughout the poem she is repeating herself and stressing on the same idea over and over again.
She praises, adores, and loves her husband and is taking an initiative to show it by writing this
letter to him. It s interesting how she began the poem by using the word ever in the first two lines
and how she ended it with the same word on line 12. Then while we live, in love lets so persevere
That when we live no more, we may live ever. I would like to end my analysis of this poem by
stating a paradox that can be found at the end of the poem in lines 11 12. Her love for her
husband is on such a level that she wants to preserve it while they live and even after they die. It s
amazing to me how much love one can have for a person. The poem s main idea is not just
centralized on how much Bradstreet loves her husband, but also on a Puritan woman who takes the
initiative to show her love to her husband which was very uncommon back
Comparing Odyssey And How I Met Your Mother
It seems that in life all everyone focuses on is the truth, whether it be about dreams, a moment of
weakness or simple doubts; however, revealing these thoughts is not always the saving point in a
failing companionship. Something that is often seen in TV shows, movies and even real life is when
someone in a partnership, whether it be amiable or romantic, ruins the closeness with back of the
head thoughts. An instance that might display this is in the show How I Met Your Mother when a
woman, Lily, attempts to go after her failed dream of becoming a painter, thus losing her husbandand
her job as a kindergarten teacher once she returns. Furthermore, it seems that if this woman were to
stay in denial when it came to this idea she would definitely not be in this situation. Though most
might not agree, the fact is that if one withholds the possibilities and focuses on the now they are at
a better chance of saving their loved ones from becoming strangers. Two pieces of literature that
prove this statement correct are The Odyssey and The Lord of the Flies. Ultimately, denial is
essential in lasting relationships.

their previous expectations, their lack of assessing their problems allowed their bond to eventually

Characters in The Odyssey and The Lord of the Flies confirm this in that their denial of the
upcoming potential happenings are masked by their deep feelings for friends and family, thus
enhancing present relationships. The future is always hurtling toward us, but that doesn t mean we
have to assess the damage right away. Sometimes the only thing one can really focus on is the
present because that s all they are ever in. But truly, we just cannot handle the

Creativity can be described as the ability to bring something into existence; into being. Having said
that, nobody really knows exactly what it is: Creative moments can mysteriously show up in certain
situations and in context, while it can also fail when really needed.

From studies neurologists say that creativity paints a complex picture. The idea that the right brain is
where creativity happens with emotions while the left brain is based on rational, analytical and
logical thought is oversimplified. It has not yet been clearly established what happens during the
creative cognitive processes with respect to neural pathways.

However, psychologically speaking, there are certain personality traits or characteristics that define a
creative person. Researcher Scott Barry Kaufman at the Psychology department of New York
University says, in so many words, one major feature of the creative person is that they are more
complex individuals than the non creative... because of this he went on to
White Circle Tucker
The White Circle is a very interesting story about a boy named Tucker who has a brother call
Anvil. Tucker gets mad at Anvil for eating apples from his apple tree and Tucker tries to kill
Anvil. Anvil gets mad and runs away from Tucker and does not come back. So, how is the White
CIrcle about justice? In the White Circle Tucker has more power than Anvil because Tucker has
his Old Man (father) on his side and the Old Man hates Anvil but loves Tucker. They don t hate
you I lied. Anyway I don t hate you (Clayton). This sentence that was used in the white circle
shows that Tucker also like Anvil a times and that not everyone hated him. Tucker also wanted to
kill Anvil at times when Anvil was acting bad. In the White Circle when Tucker was trying to kill
Anvil with the fork, Tucker showed that he cared more about his apple tree than he did about
Anvil. Although Tucker comes from a better family than Anvil, Tucker still can can have an evil
mind at times.Tucker comes from a better family because he uses more proper words, but Anvil
comes from a worse or less educated family because he uses more slang language in his words. In
the story Anvil climbs the apple tree to eat the apples because he was starving and needed to eat but

In the story there are thirteen apples on the apple tree and the number thirteen is considered an
unlucky number and can show that something unlucky or bad will happen just because of the

as a satanic symbol. The apple could relate to Adam and Eve and how the first sin was made and
could be used as a sign of temptation to do something that is

E-Waste Recycling Program
INTRODUCTION
Health is always considered the most important factor for human s lives. Without health, we cannot
do anything. There are many factors in daily activities that can affect your health such as food,
drinks, soil, water, air, or we can say the environment around us. Because the environment plays a
vital role to human s health, we are trying to do everything to conserve the environment. However,
there are still some activities that we might think they are safe for us and the environment; it they
actually kills us in far the future. One of them is recycling electronics equipment. Nowadays,
electronic waste (e waste) is increasing rapidly in the US and many people know that they should
not just throw e waste in the garbage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, the e Stewards Standard joins the global ISO 14001 standards, which is highly strict
about environment responsibility, worker health, and safety protections. It includes a lot of specific
requirements about performance such as complete prohibition of toxic e waste from developed to
developing countries, usage of prison labor, landfill, or incineration of toxic chemicals.
RELIABLITY OF E STEWARDS CERTIFICATION
The reason why many recyclers use E Stewards Standard because E Stewards Standard is the only
e waste standard that requires a certified ISO 14001, which consider environmental management,
and worker health and safety protections to be important, especially to the e waste recycling
industry. E Steward Certification also bans all toxic waste from being disposed of in solid waste
landfills and incinerators, and especially prohibits completely exporting toxic chemicals from
electronic waste from developed countries to developing countries. Furthermore, E Stewards
Certification forbids the use of prison labor in the recycling of e waste because it is dangerous and
it often has sensitive data embedded . E Stewards Certification protects workers safety by providing
extensive protections and monitoring workers in every nation.
CONCLUSION
It might affect the future of engineering by making all the electronic companies in the world have
an e Stewards label on their products, where is visible to consumers as
Homeless Students Act Analysis

population. Immediate schoolenrollment requirement. ( Weber 2014) Homeless youth have a variety
of issues affecting their ability to succeed in school. It is difficult for children who are hungry,
scared, and living in either temporary 2 housing or inadequate housing to concentrate on the
elements of school. Research indicates homeless youth are absent from school more often than
students that have a fixed residency (Weber Lugg, 2008).
