Dear sir/madam,
I am writing to express my keen interest in the annual vacation internship
program hosted by the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago during the
July/August period. I learned about this opportunity through school and would be
honoured to gain experience working with an organisation that plays such an important
role in educating the public about their own body.

I am currently a Lower 6 student at Naparima College, pursuing advanced


studies in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. I recently completed the CSEC
examinations in 2025 and achieved nine passes, including grade I’s in Biology,
Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Additional Mathematics. I was also recognized
for academic excellence, placing in the top ten within the Caribbean in four subjects,
including Biology and Chemistry. These achievements demonstrate my strong
foundation and passion for STEM subjects, which I believe is essential for
understanding the medical and research-oriented work of the Association.

Beyond academics, I have developed strong communication and research skills


through leadership roles such as President of the Naparima College Science Club,
Vice-President of the Interact Club and numerous debated both within school and out of
school which have provided me with essential skills on appealing to the public and
being able to get across an important message. I am especially passionate about health
sciences and have completed multiple certified STEM courses on the study of the
human body.
My attention to detail, ability to collaborate effectively with others, and genuine
interest in learning about diabetes prevention and care make me a strong candidate for
this internship. I have also developed excellent written and verbal communication skills,
which I believe are important for engaging with patients and healthcare professionals.
I would be grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the work of the Diabetes
Association and to further develop my understanding of health and human biology in a
real-world context. I am confident that my academic background, skills, and personal
attributes align well with the goals of this internship. I would welcome the opportunity for
an interview at your convenience.
