Morphine Research Paper
Natural products have been a source of medicinal agents for thousands of years. Impressive number
of modern drugs derived from natural products. Today, natural products are one of the main interests
for research directed towards drug design and discovery. It also has provided considerable value to
the pharmaceutical industryover the past half century. In particular, the therapeutic areas of
infectious diseases and oncology have benefited much from numerous drug classes derived from
natural form and it is used as template for synthetic modification.
The use of natural products as medicine has initiated the isolation of active compounds. The first
commercial pure natural product introduced for therapeutic use is generally considered to be ... Show

Sertürner. Sertürner named the compound as morphium after Morpheus; the Greek god of dreams,
for its tendency to cause sleep; in therapeutic doses it is an analgesic. By right it is perhaps the only
chemical that has been named after the Greek god.
Morphine was isolated and purified on a commercial scale in 1833 by chemists at Macfarlane Co.
(now known as Macfarlane Smith) in Edinburgh. Functional groups of morphine had been identified
by 1881 but it took many years to really establish the structure of morphine. The structure elucidation
of morphine was completed by Sir Robert Robinson in 1925. The full synthesis of morphine was
achieved in 1952. This synthesis took another twenty seven years.
Eventhough the structure of morphine obtained later, but its analgesic properties were recognized
and already applied to medicine. Morphine is far more effective than crude opium as analgesic
since morphine is in the pure form. Sadly, morphine gives the risks of addiction, tolerance and
respiratory depression
Morphine is the most abundant opiate in opium. It is the principal alkaloid of opium. Opium is the
name of latex produced within the seed pods of the opium poppy, PapaVer somniferum L., or P.

Real Property Vs Personal Property
Real property and personal property holders have the several rights in common because they both
can control and manage the property, they can use it or discard it. Both owners can sell or give it
away as gifts. They can withdraw or discard it as well. Although, a real property owner could be
more complicated in several ways than a personal property. A Real estatemight come from heritage
with several beneficiaries with a life estate. Though, private property is different because a realty
has two other aspects that personal property does not hold. A land is permanent and cannot be
destroyed while using it. Connecticut recognized adverse when a person openly, visibly occupy a

My Thoughts On My Life
Ok so I needed a little help to focus my thoughts so I used google and found a blog that was very
helpful. The writer Kat Lee said, one of my greatest fears in life is that I will be the same person
at 76 that I am at 36; that I will have the same hangups as an older woman that I had as a younger
woman. I think that is my same fear. When I moved to Oklahoma I wanted to reinvent myself, I didn
t wantto be the same girl with the same hangups both in life and spiritually. I thoughtnew place fresh
start.
As you already know it takes a lot for me to reach out and put myself on full display. I have a
difficulty opening up and putting my feelings/thoughts into words. From the short while I ve known
you I feel like you are a person I can break down those walls and be truly honest without the fear of
judgement.
I have so many questions to ask you about your life. You are not much older than me but you have
lived life. You married a wonderful man at a young age and you have a sweet little boy. You are
on fire for the Lord and it shows through your actions. So maybe you can help me clear some of
my obstacles that are in my life by learning from you who might have already cleared or gone
through those obstacle in your life.
I can be a very critical toward myself and get overwhelmed by the things I need to change or
improve on and end up doing nothing to change. I want to be the best person I can be. I go to my
mom but she gives those generic mom answers. I want an outside
The Need For Advanced Training and Education Within Unions
Why must education be of top priority in every union? First of all let s take a moment and think
back to when you were an infant. Imagine as an infant you were born with no one to instruct you
in your trial and error learning process. What happens? You have just been set up for failure; and
with enough failures, comes extinction. Ok, now let s bring you back from being an infant and
back into the present. Imagine now you have been a rank and file union member for several years.
Your union is about to hold elections for leadership offices and you decide to run. The votes are
counted. You have been elected business manager of your union. Congratulations! Next week starts
the beginning of contract negotiations and globalization is here.... Show more content on

45). Unions have to come to the realization by being pro active in regards to training and
education; they will have to develop Eiger (1979) intellectual power resources, such as; the power
of access to information, the power of generating new ideas, the power of critically examining
problems and creatively formulating alternative solutions. We need to make these resources
available to workers on a scale as never attempted before (p. 38) This is where labor educators come
in. Unions need to come to the realization that education programs need to be solid, the main focus,
and at the core of every union in order to keep the unions from extinction. Unions have many
subjects that need to be continuously taught, trained, studied, and critiqued. Some of these are basic
unionism, skill training, safety, organizing, grievance handling, contract negotiations, health care,
political action, benefits, labor law, as well as others. All these should be taken into consideration at
the local and international levels. Top education programs need to be established to keep rank and
file members, as well as leadership abreast of new innovations and technology and maintain a
progressive intellectual competence. Continued success in collective bargaining, public campaigns,
litigation, and political action hinges to a large degree
How Did The Communist Manifesto A Successful Basis For...
Written by German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in 1848, the Communist Manifesto
is one of the most intriguing and controversial works in history. A political pamphlet written after an
explosion of revolutionary struggles, it provided a new thought on economic and social ideas.
With all of its distinction and eminence, the Communist Manifesto serves a great deal of relevance
to today s societies and governments. The political pamphlet served as a basis for socialism for the
next one hundred years after it was published. Many countries experienced with its ideologies and
fundamentals, but the majority did not remain permanent. With the changes and experiences of
those countries it was clear that socialism was not a successful method of economic and social
stability. As for the countries that did remain socialist, their governments have reinforced and

Marx and Engels were absolute in their view as that is still evident in today s societies and
economies, the combined ideas of both systems in modern governments show that neither socialism
nor capitalism are take it all or leave it all comprehensive theories, but systems that work to the best
when the best ideas of both are combined.
The Communist Manifesto provides a great perception of economic struggles and successes and a
history filled with lessons and teachings. The argument that the Communist Manifesto should or
should not be regulated to the trash heap of history is completely absurd. The Communist
Manifesto is still relevant today and serves as a basis for economic socialism, as well as being an
important piece of political history and one the exemplifies the ideas of economic government, it is a
complete piece of genius that should only be regarded with other important political
Electra Essay
The House of Mannon Eugene O Neill s Mourning Becomes Electra is a play of revenge, sacrifice,
and murder conveyed through visible references to Aeschylus House of Atreus. O Neill alludes to
The House of Atreus in order to ground the play; attaching the plot to well known aspects of history.
As well, it brings a certain significance that otherwise would be neglected if their underlying
manifestations went unnoticed. The most prominent of these allusions is that to Aeschylus House of
Atreus. O Neill specifically modeled Mourning around Aeschylus work, modernizing it, applying it
to a new generation of readers. Agamemnon, a general in the Trojan War, becomes Ezra Mannon, a
Civil War soldier of the same rank.

This parallels Clytemnestra s killing of Agamemnon in order to further explore her love interest,
Aegisthus, as well as Orestes homecoming. Orestes later takes his own life, escaping certain agony
and torment. Prior to Orestes suicide, however, he conspires with his sister, Electra, in attempt to
prevent their mother from becoming romantically involved with Aegisthus. Ultimately, the only
ample resolution to prevent such an event from transpiring is the murder of Aegisthus, which is
executed by Electra and Orestes. This series of events directly parallels the actions of Lavinia and
Orin in response to their mother s display of love for Captain Adam Brant. Christine, in a moment
of loss and severe depression, commits suicide with a revolver; her son follow suit, leaving Lavinia
alone in the Mannon estate.
With Lavinia left to endure a lifetime of guilt stricken sorrow, the Mannon dead plague her
continuously, much like when Orin was still alive. The Mannon dead serve the same purpose as
Aeschylus furies in that they haunt Lavinia and Orin, eventually leading to Orin s suicide and
Lavinia s assumption of responsibility. There were no ghosts, spirits, or specters present, merely
portraits that kept a vigil on the house and the Mannon name. O Neill alludes to the House of Atreus
with the intention of expressing the revenge, the hatred, the murderous contempt that threads itself
throughout the play.
Christine openly expresses her adulterous love for Brant
Progressives versus Populists
The onset 20th Century holds two main movements: The Populists and The Progressives. These
two parties are similar, but their policies and philosophies hold diversities. The Populists party
comprises of farmers and poor whites in the south; they focus on eastern interests i.e. railroads and
banks. The Populists also call for government action, to intervene and to create an efficient society
which includes a flourishing middle class. The Progressives include educated middle class men and
men of universities, they too demanded for reform, but accomplish their goals through legislation
and the judicial system. The Progressives focused on reform as well as destroying the Robber
Barons. Some Progressives were actually a part of the Populist Party; they weren t contradictory
parties. To simplify the matter The Populist party held picnics in order to present discussions, while
the Progressives hold educated and sophisticated men of great esteem who were much more formal.
The Populist Party was the people s party, hence the name Populist, the party was created in the late
1800s when the Southern Famer alliance contacted Powderly, the head of The Knights of Labor. The
party s first platform was called the Omaha Platformwhich called for the abolition of the national
bank, graduated income tax, direct election of senators, civil service reform, an eight hour work
week, and the gov t control of railroads, telegraphs and telephones. The Populists supported the
