Lab Rules
- Arrive on time and ready to participate and learn.
- Cell phones, electronic devices, and eating, while you are in
the lab, are prohibited.
- Not all material covered in the exams is in the lecture so
taking notes in class is important!
- Each student should wear a Lab-coat during the time staying
in the Lab.
- Makeup exams will be given according to ongoing regulations
of Bologna process.
Laboratory Safety Symbols You Need to Know
Why proper labelling in lab settings is imperative?

• One of the most important reasons to practice proper labeling

in your laboratory is for safety purposes.
• Helps ensure that your employees and scientists are working
with the correct materials

• To avoid the risk of using the wrong materials in experiments

and other projects

• Using wrong materials not only cause your experiments to fail,

but it also wastes valuable time, resources, and funds when
you must scrap research and materials.
• Some materials and specimens you can find in the lab have
expiration dates or become unstable over time.

• Labels also denote proper storage for materials that need to

be kept at certain temperatures and in other conditions. Ex.
Stainless steel varieties are resistant to corrosive materials
and chemicals.

info.
- Name of the Material
- Concentration, amount,
density, W/V, or V/V
- Date of preparation
- Your Name
Lab Notebook: What to write in?

• Everything that is directly relevant to your research and/or

protocols that you follow in your work.
• Your notebook should provide a detailed record of exactly
what you do in the laboratory in order to obtain your
experimental results
• You should include information on all the reagents,
equipment and instrumentation that you use.
• Your notebook should also contain all of your experimental
results
• If you use some computer program to process and/or
analyze your data, you should explain exactly how the data
were processed.
• If your data are in electronic format, you should provide the
names of all the data files and identify where the data are
stored in the laboratory.

Lectures will be sent to your emails or shared with you in the
google classroom, so each week you should have it and
your representative never be responsible for printing &
distribution!

How to prepare the assignment?
Chemotherapy is an important route of cancer treatment in human.
However, the distressing side effects, like alopecia, of anti-cancer
drugs may cause the patients to refuse further therapy. Researchers
have developed a new technique to study the chemotherapy-induced
alopecia which relies on observing hair growth on the backs of mice
following shaving-induced synchronization.
