Bazarovism And Nihilism
During the 1860s, there were new, different streams of thoughts that were emerging. In Fathers and
Sons, Bazarov was a nihilist, and represented the younger generation who believed in Bazarovism.
Turgenev s description of Bazarov and his attempts to change Nikolai Petrovich Kirsanov, a
Romantic, reveals what Turgenev thoughttoward nihilists. Bazarov s actions and thoughts mirror the
thoughts of those young scholars during the 1860s. Throughout his novel, Turgenev s portrayal of
Bazarov create a description of Bazarovism, a different and new type of literary type and thought for
Russiaduring the 1860s. These new literary and intellectual types of thought grew from the
generational difference between the fathers and the sons. As it grew out of a difference between
generations, Bazarovism is largely different from Romanticism, what the fathers believe in, and is
related to nihilism.
Turgenev, in describing what type of person Bazarov was, coined the term nihilism. In Fathers and
Sons, Arkady, Nikolai s son, states that Bazarov is a nihilist. Turgenev then describes the actions of
Bazarov, creating a new intellectual thought, Bazarovism. Bazarovism is mostly derived from his
own actions and views, but is also influenced by others reactions to the way Bazarov acts. As a
nihilist, Bazarov rejects anything unless it has been previously proven to be true. Arkady tells his
father, Nikolai, and Pavel, his uncle, that as a nihilist, Bazarov looks at everything critically. Instead
Literary Devices In The Lottery
Have you ever heard of the saying, ¨never judge a book by its cover?¨ Or even been deceived by
what may look like the truth? In Shirley Jackson s short story, ¨The Lottery¨, a normal, average
village from the 1940´s has a tradition of playing the lottery, but in reality it is not about winning
but about losing in order to live. In her other short story, ¨The Possibility of Evil¨, the protagonist,
Miss Strangeworth, ends up being the antagonist of her town, causing the ¨evil¨ she believes she
is ridding her people of. In order to make these unpredictable truths hidden in these societies,
Jackson uses literary devices such as diction and irony in the same way to sense the realization of
how different the material image turns into the concealed truth under it all. Foreshadowing,
however, reveals differently of how these stories could end in a not so expected way. Both short
stories convince the reader that they are learning about these towns that are well kept and
prospering. Diction is one of the keys to setting the mood of the story. Words like ¨clear¨,
¨warmth¨, ¨boisterous¨, and ¨blossoming¨ from ¨The Lottery¨ allow one to assume that the setting
of this story is someplace that is untroubled, nonviolent community(The Lottery). What the reader
doesn t know is that the people are only gathered together to find out who will be this year s
sacrifice to their god for a good year of farming. Similarly, in ¨The Possibility of Evil¨, Jackson
uses descriptive words like ¨daintily¨, ¨fresh¨, ¨bright¨, and ¨delicately¨ in the same way as in her
other short story to assure the audience that this town is completely ordinary. Yet, in the end, both
stories have words like nervously , humorously , sharply , and breathless from The Lottery , and
harsh , wickedness , and silently from The Possibility of Evil that turn the story into what was really
the veracity of the story(The Lottery, The Possibility of Evil). The mood changes through the story
due to the diction the author chooses. Authors will think of certain connotative diction that they
know will make the reader start to have a deeper relationship/connection with the work. Another
factor in Jackson s short stories that help display the realization of the
Life With A Bengal Tiger In Yann Martel s Life Of Pi
Yann Martel s book Life of Pi portrays the gripping reality Pi Patel has to endure all the while with
a Bengal Tiger. In a tale of unique friendship and tragedy the two subsist out at sea for 227 days
while Pi survives in fear and Richard Parker (the tiger) kept Pi s mind occupied. Pi and Richard
Parker survived together and nearly died together while being afloat. But in such close quarters
Pi realizes that Richard Parker is still a predator and will kill him if necessary. This fear and
Parker himself kept Pi busy whereas others might have gone insane. Without Richard Parker, Pi
could not have survived. It was not a question of him or me, but of him and me. (Martel 164)
Upon the Tsimtsum sinking Pi was thrown into a lifeboat where Richard Parker eventually came.
Together they spent almost a year on the Pacific Ocean while enduring more hardship than some
people manage to do in a lifetime. Pi realized that they were ... literally and figuratively, in the
same boat. (Martel 164) This shows that while they are both on a lifeboat they are also hungry,
thirsty, and desperate for salvation. While on the boat, Pi, despite his first plan on what to do with
Richard Parker, began feeding him which cut into Pi s own ration of food. He came up with an
unorthodox plan to rid Richard Parker and his conscience. The plan included 6 steps: Push Richard
Parker off the lifeboat, kill him, attack him, choke him, poison him, and wage a war of attrition.
(Martel 158) However, Pi began to

The main difference between the federal budget and the state and local budgets is the issue of a
monetary deficit, in which expenditures in the budget exceeds revenues that were estimated. State
and local governments are required to balance their budgets. The federal government is allowed to
borrow money to meet its obligations and have a deficit. The federal governmentcollects the most
tax revenue, but state and local governments have a greater range of revenue options for funding
their budgets. The federal government relies mainly on income taxes, capital gains and Social
Security taxes. State and local governments collect sales taxes, taxes on fuel, property taxes and fees
from special licenses and permits. Also, many state and local... Show more content on

The next largest portion at almost 10% of the budget is allotted to Criminal Justice. In the state of
Georgia we have 159 state funded prisons that house over 57,000 inmates (Ga Prison Fact Sheet).
This also includes over 13,000 state employees that run these facilities (AJC Prison). Each inmate
takes approximately $51 a day. This includes housing, meals and general day to day activities (Ga
Prison Fact Sheet). Forth largest in the Georgia budget is for Debt Services. Debt services include
the payments of the principal and interest of any general or long term obligation that the state has
accrued. This amount is over $64 million in 2012. Lastly, the fifth largest budget allocation is for
transportation. Transportation encompasses road repair, improving the efficiency of the movement
of goods, construction of new roads and Highways and reducing congestion within the state. Along

The Effects Of Music Education On Children s Brain...
History Sings Good News for Musicians
Historically, there has been a debate among educators and researchers whether music education plays
a significant role in a child s brain development, intelligence quotient, social development and overall
success in life. Many believe the data has been unreliable because there is little to prove with
absolute certainty that those who participate in music education were not just born smarter. On the
other hand, substantial data has been collected in recent years that seems to clear up those
questions of doubt. As America s children continue to show a significant drop in their annual test
scores, while simultaneously demonstrating worsened behavior in school, answers are being sought
from many angles. Suggested reasons for the deteriorating behavior include a lack of boundaries at
home, attention seeking, an absence of positive role models at home, low self esteem and family
breakdown. (Townsend, 2013) While there are many contributing factors to these heart breaking
realities, I will present how simply providing regular music lessons can be pivotal for a child. The
diminishing importance our culture is placing on the benefits of music education is impacting our
nation s children by limiting their potential in academic achievement, social development, and
overall well being, but we can resolve this problem in part by raising awareness about this vital issue.

Kleenmaid Group Case Study
I FACTS
The Kleenmaid Group was a retail whitegoods business which operated a chain of Group owned and
franchised stores across Australia. Each of the 14 companies within the Kleenmaid Group went into
voluntary administration and were placed into liquidation on 25 May 2009. Mr Andrew Young (the
Defendant) was a director of numerous Kleenmaid companies at the time of the collapse. The
Defendant pleaded not guilty to the following charges:
Count 1 Westpac Fraud
Counts 2 to 19 Insolvent Trading
Count 20 Dishonest Transfer
The Crown case in relation to the Westpac fraud is that the Defendant dishonestly acquired a loan
of $13 million for a Kleenmaid company called EDIS Services Logistics Pty Ltd in November 2007.
In relation to the insolvent trading counts, the Crown contends that, during a period from mid 2008
until before the collapse, the Defendant dishonestly failed to prevent EDIS Services Logistics Pty
Ltd from trading while it was insolvent. Finally, the Crown claims that the Defendant committed a
further dishonest act, by causing $330,000 to which the creditors of the Kleenmaid Group were
entitled to be transferred to an entity of which the Defendant was a shareholder.
II POINTS OF EVIDENCE

clarification on an issue from a prior session, the examination in chief of Mr Brett Crawford, a voir

How Did The French Revolution Influence Art
The French Revolution and the Art it Influenced
Liberty, equality, fraternity, or death; the last, much the easiest to bestow, O Guillotine! wrote the
famous author Charles Dickens, in his classic book, The Tale of Two Cities. The French Revolution
(1789 1796) was a fight for liberty and equality, which ultimately led to the execution of Queen Marie
Antoinette and King Louis XVI, by way of guillotine. And, eventually Napoleon Bonaparte became
the ruler of France. This was a transforming time in not just France s history, but European history
and World history. The people of France were fed up with the monarchy and the burden of high
taxes, as the monarch rulers squandered money away while the people faced famine and poverty.
The Revolution was so powerful that artists not only painted about it, but they became
revolutionaries themselves, like Jacques Louis David, who is famous for his works, Oath of the
Horratii, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps. In 1830, the second French Revolution broke out and
this was known as the Three Glorious Days , in which the people of France protested Charles X
after he imposed ordinances that prevented freedom of the press and increased the power of his
monarchy ( French Revolution , n.d.). The famous allegorical painting by Eugene Delacroix,
Liberty Leading the People, is a historical depiction of the second French Revolution and illustrates
the connection between socioeconomic and political issues, and art. This paper will look at David
s Napoleon Crossing the Alps, and Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People and analyze the impact
of the French Revolution on art of those periods.

Jacques Louis David (1748 1825) was one of the most famous Neoclassist painters, as well as a
devout revolutionary in 19th century France. He painted works that some consider propaganda of
the time, yet he did so in pure Neoclassical fashion (Pollitt, n.d.). Eventually, he became the personal
painter for Napoleon Bonaparte, as he continued to support the revolution through art. In Napoleon
Crossing the Alps, we see a diagonal, yet static composition. The diagonal that is created by the
horse is reminiscent of Baroque figures, yet it lacks the movement that the Baroque style portrayed
so well.
Reasonabl Reasonable Suspicion In Law Enforcement
Probable cause and reasonable suspicion in law enforcement are important terms used as a
guideline to police offers or law enforcement agencies (Lushbaugh, 2012). Each officer is required
to deal with every circumstance in light of the reasonable justification. Law enforcement officers
and agencies are usually required to determine if there is sensible doubt or probable cause that can
lead them to performing and taking part of certain actions in regards to a specific criminal
circumstance. Probable cause is characterized as the activities or actions that are obvious and
directs towards being part of evidence. The confirmation of evidence is acquired and obtained
rationally in which will provide the officer with the knowledge of knowing one has committed a
crime. According to the Fourth Amendment 1791, a warrant is only issued when there is a probable
cause for arrest of a suspect (Lushbaugh, 2012).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the officer exercises perseverance and great skills, uses intuition or belief that there
is a crime committed or about to be committed (Lushbaugh, 2012). The law enforcement officer
stops and approaches the possible suspect investigates he/she in public or in their place of
residence. However, to assure safety, if the suspect happens to have possession of a weapon or
illegal item, the officer performs a search known as pat down . Reasonable suspicion in criminal
cases is followed by an elaborate and extensive investigation to prove the suspicion through
concrete evidence before conviction of a suspect (Lushbaugh, 2012). Probable cause within criminal
cases often leads to search warrants and a gathering of evidence as proof to make a conviction of the
Power Dynamic In King Lear
In my initial essay I discussed the power dynamic within the family and kingdom, but I never
pinpointed exact moments when the characters losing control became aware of this new dynamic. I
think the performance did a brilliant job of creating statements with costuming when important
moments in the power struggle changed. These bold choices in costuming also helped to explain
instances where the characters had eye opening revelations about what was going on in their life that
they were previously oblivious to. White costumes in this production created a stark contrast against
the black costumes that most of the cast where dressed in, and provided insight into the thoughts of
the characters when they would not always vocalize their inner monologues.... Show more content on

The next character who reaches this stage of understanding about the significance of their
situation is Gloucester. He changes into his white costuming right before he is blinded. In his
blindness he is able to gain sight about what is actually happening in his life. He finally puts
together that Edmund has betrayed him and the son he exiled, Edgar, was his only loyal kin. The
white clothing acts as a flag to the audience to draw attention to the fact that something has
changed within Gloucester. That something is awareness of his situation, and essentially an
epiphany about his sons. Lear also provides a moment of epiphany with his white clothing, but his
moment of clarity is so tainted by the cruel world he lives in, it becomes his dissent into madness.
When Lear comes in contact with Mad Tom, he starts to realize two things. He realizes how
terribly he has treated homeless people, such as Mad Tom, and now that he is without his land
and power and knights, he is now at the same level of poverty as Mad Tom. All that Lear has
known, all of his power, has come to nothing and all he has to relay on now is his own flesh,
making him no more than a mere beast. This realization of his reality becomes clear to him as he
talks to Mad Tom, and so he strips off his clothing to reveal his white clothing, and his understanding

Seeing a diverse group of riders old and young, male and female the Posse Riders project an open,
inclusive image for Harley.
While the visual promotional effect of the Posse Rides should be exploited as much as possible,
commercializing them should be avoided. The Posse participants are Harley s best customers and
this event should be an opportunity to reward them, not exploit them. The indirect benefits, such as
building brand awareness and loyalty, are much more important than short term sales. Given the
wide differences in income, raising prices and/or offering special amenities for additional costs,
will simply drive off working class participants that blow their annual wad on one rally. This would
change the nature of the Posse from an open, inclusive group to a rich, closed one.
The Posse Rides should also continue to maintain their exclusivity. If everyone can get a Posse T
shirt because of merchandising they will not be worth having to real Posse Riders. Keeping the
number of participants small also adds to the feeling of exclusivity, as well as only having a Posse
Rides no more than once a year. This should also help to maintain a feeling of spontaneity that is
missing from regional HOG events.

Next Steps/Recommendations to Maximize Effectiveness and Profitability

Given that we believe that The Posse Ride should continue, we feel there are several things that
Disney Misogyny
In Disney films, there is a lot of misogyny amongst female main characters. Many people in our
society have noticed a significant difference in the speaking roles between male and female
characters that Disney created, as men had way more lines than the women. Because these
movies were mostly created in the mid late 1900 s, this was the time that there was plenty of
prejudice against females. Now, in the year 2017, females are getting a little more equality than
before to the point where many females now have jobs that were only for males in the 1900 s.
Most Disney movies for that matter involve some sort of misogyny, even the ones that recently
came out such as Brave and Frozen . Examples of various levels of misogyny can be noticed in
Disney films such as Arielin The Little Mermaid(1989), directed by Ron Clements and John
Musker. The movie is about a 16 year old mermaid who wants to live on land with a human Prince
named Eric but is only able to after making a dangerous wish with Ursula the Sea Witch to be a
human for three days. In this movie Ariel The Mermaid , prejudice can be seen in Ursula, by a female
having too much authority, Ariel cannot speak, and Ariel uses her appearance to attract others.

Firstly, Ursula the Sea Witch can be seen with a ton of power. The power turns Ursula evil and
manipulative, which shows that females that have too much power should be removed from society,
just like Ursula. ...And now, look at me wasted away to practically
The Separation Of Argon, A Uniform Dc Electric Field At...
Abstract A home made dc sputtering is characterized by cathode potential of 250 2000 V and
sputtering gas pressures of (3.5×10 2 1.5) mbar. This paper studies in experiment the breakdown of
argon, a uniform dc electric field at different discharge gaps and cathode potentials. Paschen curves
for Argon are obtained by measuring the breakdown voltage of gaswithin at different target
cu,Au,Ag, vacuum chamber . The Paschen curves in Ar gases show that the breakdown voltage
between two electrodes is a function of pd (The product of the pressureinside the chamber and
distance between the electrodes). Current voltage characteristics visualization of the discharge
indicate that the discharge is operating in the abnormal glow region.

Keywords: gold target , gas discharge, glow discharge, plasma , dc sputtering.

I. INTRODUCTION
Dc glow discharges are widely applied for depositing thin films, etching, plasma polymerization,
oxidation, and pumping gas discharge lasers, etc. Therefore the research into the conditions of
the dc glow discharge is of considerable interest [1] [6]. Plasmas are ionized gases; hence, they
consist of positive (and negative) ions and electrons, as well as neutral species. Therefore, the
ignition of the dc glow discharge is one of the oldest problems in the study of low pressure gas
discharges. The mechanism of the gas discharge can be explained as follows: When a sufficiently
high potential difference is applied between two electrodes placed in a
Cultures And Values Of Culture, Culture And Culture
Culture is a body of characteristics such as beliefs, social norms and ethnic background shared in a
region by a population of people. Development and discipline can be influenced by culture. Culture
contains values, norms, prejudice, social influence and human activity. Values and beliefs hold high
importance. An example would be religion, in many cultures religion is of high value (Kerfoot).
Norms set an expectation to what is socially acceptable. Prejudice is formed in culture. This bias can
be generalized ideas formed off popular belief and tolerance (Wilson 2008). Social influence comes
