4 1 Preparations

1.1 General information

1.1.1 Systems/products affected


Affected system numbers may be subject to change; the UI data published on the Intranet
(update handling tool) always reflect the current status. UI hardcopies are not updated
when the affected serial numbers change.

1.1.2 Reason for the update


This Update Instructions installs various Windows XP Hotfixes.

1.1.3 Additional information


The name of the function pack depends on the SW version on which it is installed.
After a successful installation, it will show up as follows:
VB27: FP3
VB35: FP1
VB38: FP3
VB39: FP3
The update instructions are identical for all the versions; no selection has to be performed
during the installation.
The function pack will install the Microsoft Hotfixes 08-061, 08-062, 08-063, 08-067.

This function pack does not require any previous packs.

2.1 Work steps

2.1.1 Installation on the ICS


n To disconnect the IES from the ICS and to avoid conflicts from an activity running in
parallel to the update:
Login as administrator at the IES.
- Select System > End > Restart Application
- Click Yes and press the left Shift key until the login window appears
- Login as the administrator
n Login as administrator at the ICS.
- Select System > End > Restart Application
- Click Yes and press the left Shift key until the login window appears
- Login as the administrator
n Insert the CD Somaris/5 ICS/IES_Hotfixes_08 into the CD drive (e.g: [-R]) of the ICS
n Open Windows Explorer
n Go to R:\, double-click the file install.bat
n Wait a moment. An automatic system shut-down and restart are performed.
n After restart, the installation continues automatically. Wait until the message window
The Function Pack XX successfully installed appears.
After a successful installation, it will show up as follows:
VB27: FP3
VB35: FP1
VB38: FP3
VB39: FP3
n An automatic system shut-down and restart are performed.
n Remove the CD.

2.1.2 Installation on the IES


n Insert the CD Somaris/5 ICS/IES_Hotfixes_08 into the CD drive (e.g: [-R]) of the IES
n Open Windows Explorer
n Go to R:\, double-click the file install.bat
n Wait a moment. An automatic system shut-down and restart are performed.
n After restart, the installation continues automatically. Wait until the message window

n Connect the IES with the ICS again.

n Remove the CD.

2.1.3 Final check


After finishing the installation, select Options > Version and check if the function pack is
listed ( see above for the name of the FP).

2.1.4 Backup in the ICS / IES


n Insert a backup medium into the respective drive (e.g: [-R])
n In the service software, select Backup&Restore.
n From Command ,select Backup, and from Drives, select the CD drive, e.g [-R].
n From Package, select CT-Settings-XXX and click Go
 BackupRestore Running...
 Wait until Ready is displayed.
n From Package, select SW-Setting02-XXX and click Go
 BackupRestore Running...
 Wait until Ready is displayed.
n From Package, select Security-Settings-XXX and click Go
 BackupRestore Running...
 Wait until Ready is displayed.
n Remove the backup medium.
n Click Home and terminate the service software by closing the Browser window.

2.1.5 Informing the customer

1. Update the system documentation.
(not required for remote service activities performed without a service engineer).
Fill out, and if needed, make a copy of the attached "Completion Protocol" and file it in
the corresponding binder.
2. The update must be reported by authorized personnel, either via an intranet applica‐
tion or automated data transfer (only for countries connected via an update handling
interface).
