National Honor Society Requirements
The purpose of the Saint Monica Preparatory chapter of the National Honor Society is to encourage
scholarship, to increase desire to serve, to strengthen leadership, and to enhance character. Listed below are the
minimum requirements for consideration by the Faculty Selection Committee. They are not a guarantee of
acceptance.

Scholarship 10th through 12th graders with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2
(non-weighted)
Service One or two examples of volunteer work beyond a student’s
SMPrep Christian Service requirement2 ; supervisor name

Leadership One or two examples of demonstrated leadership experience;
Supervisor name required3
Character Student may never have:
◊ Received an N or U on the semester report card during their junior or senior
year
◊ Been on disciplinary contract or strict disciplinary probation during their
sophomore, junior, or senior year
◊ Been suspended or asked to withdraw from the school
◊ Failed to meet the yearly Christian Service requirement during the prior year
Citizenship One or two examples of civic involvement outside of St. Monica
Preparatory; Supervisor name required4
SMPrep reserves the right to revoke NHS membership if a student does not maintain the minimum
requirements of membership while a student at SMCHS.
To the best of my knowledge, I meet or exceed the minimum requirements of NHS membership.
