What Is The Theme Of Marble Chappe
Marble Champ by : Alessandra Bontomasi

Have you ever said to yourself I give up right away and don t even try? Well there is a saying that
is when you work hard it will play off, and in the story Marble Champ by Gary Soto the main
character, Lupe Merdrano never stopped working hard and it lead her to a big prize at the end. The
reasons for this is that she was not good at sports first, then she practiced and practised, then it all
paid off in the future.

In the first little part of the story lupe the main character seems to not be very good at sports. But the
thing is she would say to herself I will never be good at sports. The first piece of evidence is that she
can t run very fast, for example in the story Marble Champ she would try and try to get her body to
move faster in the fifty yard dash and she would never beat anyone. So, this shows that she is not
good at sports because in most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that the work payed off even if she was easy it still would have not been easy if not for
all of that practice and the hard work she gave in. At the last game that she had with a girl was the
hardest, as they called her she was miss baseball cap. Before the game her father would tell her let
your numb do the work. Whenever lupe would get a higher score she would beat it or tie it, but at
the end she did win. This also says that it was an hard opponent this time and she had her troubles
but stepped it back up at the end of the match. Her last win was when she versed the winner of the
boys and lupe had a bad start but then won by 7 points. This all show that using skills and working
hard at something you want to try, can get you into better places as long as you work
Fool In King Lear
The Definition of a Fool according to the Oxford English Dictionary On Historical Principles,
could mean several things a silly person , or one who professionally counterfeits folly for the
entertainment of others, a jester, clown or one who has little or no reason or intellect or one who is
made to appear to be a fool. The Fool in Elizabethan Age can be put into two categories, the
natural fool, and the artificial fool. The natural fool was born mentally disabled while an artificial
fool was a person who deliberately acted oddly, simple, or eccentric in order to entertain and even
indirectly give advice. One such famous artificial Fool, was the fool from Shakespeare s King Lear.

I ll speak a prophecy ere I go: When priests are more in word than matter, When brewers mar their
malt with water, When nobles are their tailors tutors, No heretics burned but wenches suitors,
When every case in law is right, No squire in debt, nor no poor knight When slanders do not live
in tongues, Nor cutpurses come not to throngs, When usurers tell their gold i th field, And bawds
and whores do churches build, Then shall the realm of Albion Come to great confusion; Then
comes the time, who lives to see t, That going shall be used with feet. This prophecy Merlin shall
make, for I live before his time . (Act 3, Scene 2). We do not see or hear of the Fool again after Act
3, Scene 6 where he participates in the mock trial. I believe the reason for his exit from the play is
because he has exhausted his
Analysis Of Milan Kundera s Unbearable Lightness Of Being
In Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera uses the contrasting ideas of lightness and
weight to signify ones existence. Kundera disagrees with Frederich Nietzsche s concept of Eternal
Return, and believes that instead of one s existence being a recurring event with little to no change
in detail our lives only happen once, meaning every action or decision in a life has a very brief
existence.
The novel introduces us with Tomas, who is an extremely light character, with few emotional ties
to people, with a enormous need for many lovers. For him, love and sex are separate entities. He
loves Tereza, a single woman, but will sleep with a large amount of other women throughout his
life. The arrival of Tereza then directly signifies a new addition of weight into Tomas life. She is
described as The two of them got into his car, which was parked in front of the house, and drove to
the station. There he claimed the suitcase (it was large and enormously heavy) and took it and her
home. (Kundera, Milan, and Michael Heim Henry. The Unbearable Lightness of Being. page 9 10)
Tereza has packed up what we consider is a large amount of her belongings, moving her life into
Tomas , in a large and enormous and heavy suitcase. This suitcase contains her life, and the act of
Tomas taking it home shows the entrance of Tereza s heaviness into his life. Tereza and Tomas share

Their relationship does not consist of love; an emotion instead shared within other heavier
relationships, and instead could be considered as being one categorized as an affair . This
relationship between two light characters seems to run into little conflict, as Tomas and Sabina share
the same ideas about life. Despite what seems like an easy balance, they both move on to pursue

Environmental Factors And Environmental Challenges In Ghana
Environmental factors: Climate change is a major health threat and affects many people around the
world. The climate today is changing rapidly and this can be a threat to the livelihood and well
being of the Ghanaian population. Ghana is identified as being highly vulnerable to climate change
as it plays a significant role in the sanitationsystem. Climate change is one of the most significant
challenges for the 21st century and poses risks to sanitation and water services. 20 As water and
climate change are linked to each other, the effects of climate change are first felt through water then
through droughts, floods and storms.21 There are three major physical impacts of climate change in
Ghana, which includes temperature change, change in rainfall and sea level rise.22 These three
physical impacts can destroy water supplies and toilets, which plays a factor on human health.
Ghana continues to struggle with poor access to clean water and sanitation systems are either
non existent or weak.23 Five million Ghanaians still use contaminated water from unsafe
sources.8 Many countries at higher risk of droughts and floods usually have low levels of access
to water, putting the sanitation systems at risk. By 2030, it has been expected that more than 118
million people will be exposed to drought, floods, and extreme heat in Africa.23 This means
countries like Ghana will continue to struggle with poor sanitation. Sanitation concerns would
include damage and loss of services from these natural disasters and reduced carrying capacity of
the waters. 20 Droughts would lead to insufficient water resources that are able to flush sewage
systems adequately and the results of higher temperature can have an impact on how sewage
systems operate. Flooding could lead to inundation of pit latrines or sewage treatment facilities.24
Droughts and flooding would increase the risk of contamination of the environment. Another
physical impact of climate change in Ghana is the rising sea levels. Approximately 25% of the
population live in coastal areas.25 If this rate continues with the sea level rise, by 2050 more than
100sq km of land would be lost and 132,000 people will be displaced.25 This will also contaminate
the fresh water and
Politics In The Quiet Revolution
The Quiet Revolution is characterized as the events that took place in Quebec following the death
of Quebec s conservative Premier Maurice Duplessis in 1959 and the election of Jean Lesage and
his Liberals the following year. The era marked a period of unprecedented political and social
change for the province and also the development of the Quebecois identity. Under Lesage, the
Laissez Faire ideology, dominant from 1945 to 1960, gave way to energetic activism. Government
action became the response to internal conflicts and provincial control was extended over many
industries that were previously privately owned. Alongside with these rapid changes in the structure
and responsibilities of Quebec s government, the notion grew that... Show more content on

general public... and contribute [its own] initiatives and views...to the general awareness with
regards to Canadian unity. (CITE: TASK FORCE). Co chaired by liberal cabinet minister Jean Luc
Pepin and former Ontario Premier John Robarts, the Task Force held more than 15 major public
hearings from one end of the country to the other in an attempt to gather the opinions of Canadian
citizens regarding the sovereignty movement in Quebec and the state of Canadian nationalism. From
that information, its goal was to not only publicize the efforts being made to solve the problems
addressed in the public hearings, but also advise the federal government on how to strengthen
national unity and consequently abate the Quebec sovereignty movement. The sum total of the
efforts made by the Task Force produced 3 books: Coming to Terms, A Future Together, and A Time

Utilitarianism In Catch 22
The military protects and keeps the people of a nation away from harm, but does the means of
inhumane treatment of soldiers and disregard for morality justify the end goal? In Catch 22, by
Joseph Heller, a story unfolds the events of a bomber captain named John Yossarian as he tries his
hardest to avoid combat and an untimely death, portrayed in dark humor and depressing undertones
of the realistic atrocities that occur in war. The plight of Yossarian is made more difficult by the
harsh conditions of the war zone on one side and the bureaucratic higher ranking officers on the
other. The military asserts absolute control over the soldiers and forces them into no wins scenarios,
as shown in the title, Catch 22, a paradoxical situation from which... Show more content on

Yossarian and his squadron is given a dangerous mission to Bologna in order to further the
reputation of the officers, which Yossarian attempts to avoid. Nothing could save the men in
Pianosa from the mission to Bologna. They were trapped (Heller, 118). The officers eagerly give
their men a dangerous mission that will most likely cost them their lives. The mission would boost
the officer s reputation, so they willingly accept at the cost of the soldiers lives. The actions
Yossarian takes only lead him into more peril. Almost every action in the novel triggers an
unpredictable reaction, a situation that renders cause and effect largely meaningless and creates
an absurd world from which escape is nearly impossible (Maus). The officers compete for rank as
if that is the only thing that matters to them. Colonel Cathcart wanted to be a general so
desperately he was willing to try anything (Heller, 189). The officer s would easily sacrifice lives to
gain reputation and power in the military chain. They compete in petty and useless battles to outrank
each other. The soldier are unable to escape combat. According to the mad bureaucratic premise of
Joseph Heller s World War II novel Catch 22, a bomber pilot such as the book s antihero, John
Yossarian might be relieved from active duty by claiming insanity, were it not for the fact that the
attempt to avoid further missions itself proved the pilot s sanity (Hoberman). Yossarian and his
friends are unable to leave because of the authority of officers who have set an impossible scenario
to escape. The only way out was to be let out by the doctor, but the doctor can t let anyone out
because of the
Conflict Between Iran And Iraq Essay
Society is hard pressed to find a region within the world today, which has experienced as much
conflict, as the Middle East. The bloodiest and most volatile of these conflicts would be the Iran
Iraq war, proving to be the most bitter and detrimental conflict since World War II, and the worst the
region has seen in recent years. Hostile relations and continued territorial clashes occurred between
these two countries before September 22, 1980, however this day would mark the official
declaration of war on Iranby Saddam Hussein. The next eight years of war would go on to claim
the lives of over a million soldiers and civilians. In terms of war, this conflict would play out as a
typical interstate war, with intense utilization of land, air, and naval forces throughout its entirety.
The escalation between Iran and Iraqwas not new, and there are multiple theories as to the origin of
conflict, with everything from geopolitics and disputes over territory, to religious divisions and
Saddam s fear of how the Iranian Revolutionof 1979 would affect Iraq. However, looking through the
theoretical framework of Realism and its theories of balance and power and the security dilemma,
this all plays to a patterned framework consistent with mistrust, uncertainty and opportunism which
come to explain the major causes of the conflict and why countries compete. The following historical
narrative serves as a background to highlight the major points of conflict, while furnishing a concise

Human Relations Theory and People Management

The minutiae of the human soul ... emerged as a new domain for management Nikolas Rose
Conventional textbooks often set up a simple story about organization theory which has a very
appealing structure. In this story, there is a good guy and a bad guy. Who gets to play which role
sometimes shifts, but most often the bad guy is the scientific management approach and the good
guy is human relations theory. This is a flawed story in my view, and the way I will tell the story
emphasizes the many connections and similarities between the two. But I suppose the fact that I am
referring to the two implies that there must be some points of ... Show more content on

It was this which caused the increase in productivity and which demonstrated that the workers could
not be regarded as mere parts in the organizational machine. Thus was born the notion of the
Hawthorne Effect , a staple part not just of organization theory but of social science as a whole. The
other study I want to mention was that conducted in the bank wiring room. Here, a small group of
male workers were engaged in producing electrical components. It emerged that the group set
informal norms around production levels so that, rather than produce their maximum output (which
would earn them a bonus) the workers performed sub optimally. These norms were enforced by a
mixture of peer pressure (including physical sanction) and an unofficial gang leader . This suggested
that workers were not solely motivated by economic

considerations and, moreover, that the informal side of the organization was as important as, or
maybe even more important than, the formal side (i.e. the rules and official hierarchy). The
discovery of the human factor, so the story goes, ushered in a new era in which workers needs were
acknowledged and met. This claim fits not just the good guy, bad
Energy efficiency is essential to provide citizens with...
Energy efficiency is essential to provide citizens with functioning electricity and fuel. The energy
I would use to fuel my city is hydroelectric because its pros and cons outweigh the pros and cons of
solar, coal, wind, and nuclear energy. The most efficient energy source for my city is
hydroelectric energy. Hydroelectric energy is the most efficient for many reasons. Hydroelectric
energy s power fuel is water, which does not give off harmful chemicals or waste in the air or
water; keeping our planet very clean. Hydroelectric energy also has constant power. Its power is
generated by moving water. Water is constantly moving. After hydroelectric plants are produced their
energy can produce electricity very cheaply. Hydroelectric plants can... Show more content on

I would not choose solar energy for my city for many reasons. Solar panels still gives off pollution
produced as a result of manufacturing, transportation, and installation. The production of energy is
rather noisy from the use of fuels. Solar energy can only be used during daylight hours. Bad
weather can decrease the efficiency of solar energy. Modern solar panels are only around 20%
efficient. The initial investment of solar cells is extremely high. Solar energy has too many cons to
be the best possible source of energy.
Coal is also a very destructive source of energy, and is definitely not the supreme source. Coal is a
non renewable resource. Coal creates the most CO2 in the environment. This destroys the ozone
layer and leads to many climate problems. CO2 is toxic at concentrations above 5 percent. Coal is
also the largest contributor to global warning. Coal causes mass destruction of the environment
around coal mines. Coal mining is the 2nd highest emitter of methane, a potent greenhouse gas.
Coal mining has high levels of radiation. Coal plants energy sources release the more radiation
than any other energy source! Wind power is a very inconsistent energy source. The wind is
unsteady and unpredictable. Wind power is quite expensive and hard to manage. Both residents and
commercials companies must pay for the expensive power wind turbines provide. Wind farms are
located in rural areas and sometime form now no
