INTRODUCTION
The Associa on of Geographers, Bihar and Jharkhand (AGBJ) is set
to hold its 26th Annual Conference at the Department of Geography,
Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag on October 11-12, 2025. This will be the
third me when Vinoba Bhave University is organising the conference.
The Associa on was founded in 1999 under the chairmanship of
Dr. P. Dayal, former Vice Chancellor, Magadh University and Professor
Emeritus, Patna University, Patna. Since then, the Associa on has grown up
leaps and bounds and there has also been annual get-together
(Conference) uninterruptedly every year in different universi es of Bihar
and Jharkhand to strengthen its membership, academic excellence and
discussion on contemporary cri cal issues.
The Associa on has also established a tradi on to organise a
Na onal Seminar on this occasion every year. To upkeep the glory and
tradi on, this year na onal seminar will discuss on the Focal theme
“Sustainable U liza on of Resources of Bihar and Jharkhand @ Viksit
Bharat 2047". This focal theme is of utmost relevance in present India. The
country is bounded to make India Viksit by 2047. The na onal planners and
implementa on strategists are aware of the fact that there can not be Viksit
Bharat without engulfing every state and every social group under the
development targets of 2047. Bihar and Jharkhand are two such states
where sustainable development targets are in the status of laggard. Both
states are making hard efforts to develop them and to make themselves
aware of the real targets. This na onal seminar will make threadbare
analysis of all issues related to Viksit Bharat targets with reference to Bihar
and Jharkhand. Hence, the par cipants are expected to submit paper on
any of the given sub-theme:

Ÿ Those who are not the life member of the association, must enroll as life
member / annual member by depositing Rs. 2000 / Rs. 400 respectively
before participating the conference.
Desirous par cipants are requested to send their Registra on fee with the
abstract of paper (not more than 300 words). Only those abstract papers will
be published in the Abstract Volume which will accompany duly filled in
Registra on Form and a sum of Rs. 500/- as a part of the registra on fee.
However, the remaining amount must be paid before the commencement of
the conference. The last date for sending abstract of paper along with the
Registra on fee and filled in form to email: [email protected] by the
September 15, 2025. The accompanying persons shall not be en tled to
receive the seminar kit and other documents and materials.

PROF. R. GAUNTIA YOUNG GEOGRAPHER’S AWARD

The scheme of awarding young geographers has been introduced in order to
encourage research in various fields of geography. The young geographers are
advised to present paper in the conference on contemporary geographical
problems. A cash award of Rs. 3000/- is given every year at the me of Annual
Conference to the par cipant, whose paper is adjudged the best by the expert
commi ee, cons tuted by the execu ve commi ee of the AGBJ. The cash
award for the second best paper is Rs. 1500/-. This award is limited to the
par cipants below 35 years of age on the 31st March, 2025. Five authors will
be asked to present their paper in a special session before the delegates of the
annual conference. Online presenta on will not be allowed.

The research papers for the award must be sent to the General Secretary,
AGBJ, Department of Geography, Patna University, Patna or email :
[email protected] by the September 15, 2025 along with the a ested
copy of age proof. The first awarded paper may be published in the Journal of
the Associa on, provided it is approved by the Editorial Board.
 DR VIDYA SAGAR YADAV EMERGING GEOGRAPHER’S AWARD
This award will be given to such geographer who will fulfil the following condi ons:
a) His or her age shall not be above 45 years on March 31, 2025.
b) He/she must be a Post-graduate degree holder in geography or allied subjects.
c) He/she shall be Life Member/Annual Member of the AGBJ.
d) The Associa on will invite full paper (around 3000 words) from the willing
geographers on a par cular theme selected by the Execu ve Commi ee. The
Commi ee will scru nise the research paper and select a maximum of five
papers for presenta on in the annual conference of the AGBJ.
e) Full research paper of the theme must be sent on the email address of the
Associa on ([email protected]) by September 15, 2025. No other means of
communica on is acceptable in this regard.
f) All selected presenters have to remain present at the venue of the Annual
Conference for presenta on before the conference delegates. Online
presenta on will not be allowed.
g) Three member jury, appointed by the Execu ve Commi ee will finally select the
winner and the second winner of the award.
h) The winner will get a cer ficate along with an amount of Rs. 5000/- The second
winner will be given an amount of Rs. 2500/- and a cer ficate.
I) This year’s theme is “Impact of Clima c Hazards on the Human
ac vi es in Bihar / Jharkhand”.
