What Are The Key Roles Involved In Running The...
Interviewing a few of moderators in this community gave insight into how it operated. One member
of the group noted two key roles involved in running the administrative side of the community. These
two roles may sound similar, but they have striking differences that make their variation requisite to
the success of the community. The higher of the two being the Administrative, position or the admin
for short. The second role is the Moderator, or mod. During normal operation, these roles share many
of the same responsibilities of each other. That is, until one important event causes the significant
schism to occur. This event is known as, high time.

Contrast this with the role of the administrator. During high time, the administrators are focusing on
what the future of the group will hold. To conceptualize this, they will be participating in the social
image of the community. This may entail advertisements, interview results, website review, and
magazine publications. They ll be the ones imagining, after this event dies down, what will our
group look like? What will we stand for after it is complete? Who will we be? Together, these two
roles are the scaffolding for the governance of this community.
There are a few other roles below the moderator and administrator position, which play less of a role
in the administration of the group. The one such role to note is the community s database of
information editors. These individuals are assigned the role after speaking specifically to an admin
who will ask what section of the database they are interested in contributing to. The users are put on
a trial as well where all of their initial posts are reviewed prior to full release. Once they have access,
they are given the task to documenting pertinent information to the subject they ve been assigned.
The user will learn about proper documentation techniques, and will become an elder within the
topic.
All this being said, what type of governance does the community incorporate to deal with deviant
behavior? At a core the
1984 Reader Response Essay
Reader Response: 1984 The novel 1984 made me paranoid and suspicious of the government s
power and intentions. I became aware of the potential manipulation of which the government could
impose upon us. The very thing which I depend on for security and protection may be a conniving
entity which feeds off of it s own power and corruption. As I flourished in my naivety, I was
unaware that the people I trusted, whom I believed to be wholly dedicated to our well being as a
society, could betray us at any moment they see fit. I gravely overlooked the potential and the power
that the government has to rule us. In fact, they may have been conspiring against us this whole
time, using us as pawns in their quest for ultimate authority. As a... Show more content on

London is in a state of dire need of sanitation. There is rubble from bombings amid the vistas of
rotting nineteenth century houses, their sides shored up with baulks of timber, their windows
patched with cardboard and their roofs with corrugated iron (2). Electricity and plumbing seldom
function and many people live in hunger and filth. Scarce food rations are served. The Party
however, shows no concern nor makes any notable effort to improve the living conditions. The
Party is also neglectful towards a population called the Proles, who are the lower class citizens.
They were left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina (61). Because
they were not seen as a threat to the Party, the Proles were disregarded. Not only this, they were
degraded. The Party claims that Proles and animals are free (62), which compares the abilities of
the Proles to that of animals. The novel 1984 caused me to be suspicious of government ideals. The
novel allowed me to visualize Oceania and to live through the characters. It made me realize the
capabilities and power of the government, and that if it were to become corrupt, it would be able to
have complete control over the population. The disturbing mind control and manipulation discussed
in the book could become normalities in our society. In 1984 George Orwell successfully portrayed
the terrifying capabilities of the government. Works Cited
The Development Of New Zealand Art From The 20th Century
The development of New Zealand Art from the 20th into the 21st Century
New Zealand is home to various great artists who have crafted and created a platform for current,
new and upcoming New Zealand artists. Throughout the 19th Century New Zealand artwork was
predominantly based around New Zealand s scenery, artists during the 20th Century such as Rita
Angus demonstrated through her artworks landscapes and sceneries of New Zealand whereas other
New Zealand artists such as Gordon Walters incorporated suitable Maori patterns and styles in his
artworks.
During the 20th Century it was apparent that New Zealand artists such as Colin McCahon was
heavily influenced by international artists and their artworks, adapted the style of cubism and
began to use in his own works. In the late 20th Century New Zealand began to acknowledge
culture and diversity within the country, it was then a beginning for Maori artists to become
common and known of where many would unite European modernism with traditional Maori
features together. A notable Maori artist being the late Ralph Hotere, who during his time was
New Zealand s highest selling artist. Hotere plays a significant role in not only in New Zealand art
history but Maori history too as he broke barriers of being a Maori artist, other current artists such
as Shane Cotton and Michael Parekowhai are also important as they are successful modern, Maori
artists.
Numerous artists who compose contemporary Maori artworks also associate their work
My Love for Cosmetology
Every since I was a child I have had a passion for doing other people s hair. When I was little I
would use my baby dolls as clients and work on their hair until it was perfect and neat. I have
chosen to be in the cosmetology field because I like to help other people with their needs and
wants as well as mine. I am aware that while working in this industry I will work with many
different ethnic groups and many different hair types. I feel I can do anything as long as I have the
determination to do so. Many people go to cosmetology school to work for someone else, but I
would like to open up a mini salon out of my own home someday. I have many talents and interest
that will help me succeed in the cosmetology field like communication... Show more content on

Candidates must graduate from a state approved program for cosmetology. The board exam for a
cosmetology has a wide variety of topics from a written test, oral exam and maybe even a skills
test (Barbers, Hairdressers, and Cosmetologists). In the state of North Carolina 1500 hours is
required for the completion of the program. Many people might choose not to complete 1500
hours so they can choose to complete 1200 if they would like. The downfall to completing only
1200 hours is that you will have to work an additional six months or more under the supervision of
a licensed hairstylist (Hairston). Many hairstylists choose to take extra advancement courses for
hairstyling or other personal appearance services. If a hairstylist would like to open their own
business or help another hairstylist manage their salon they can choose to take business and
marketing classes outside of the coursework. Most states offer reciprocity but there is certain
qualifications the licensure must adhere by. The licensure should also check the state they would
like to transfer to education requirements being that something may be slightly different (Barbers,
Hairdressers, and Cosmetologists). To switch over your license to the state of North Carolina you
must ask your previous state to send in a letter of certification showing that you have the proper
documentation to show you have obtained a license and have met all the required objectives to

her soul floating to the heaven in the sky she s always known. Her great granddaughter, Kate, made

When Kate reached the age of 15, she found again the jewelry box that she had made as a child.
Opening the top of the glitter covered lid, under small items, she found a key. When she observed
the key, only then did she realize that there was a note left at the bottom of the cheap wooden box.

Why Is Coach Carter A Movie
Coach Carter is an American biographical sports drama film inspired by a true story of Richmond
High School basketball coach, Ken Carter, who made headlines in 1999 for benching his
undefeated high school basketball team due to poor academic results. It was released in 2005 and
was directed by Thomas Carter.
There are a few reasons as to why I chose this film over many others. Firstly, Coach Carter had a
twisted storyline as compared the sports drama films. Instead of focusing mainly on practising
basketball, they work hard towards achieving better grades and a secured future. Secondly, I think
that this movie stressed on setting clear expectations. I feel like I can relate to this as this current
year will be tough in the long run. It encourages me to plan and set better expectations to improve
myself in certain areas such as my character and education wise. This film sends the message of
how dedication and teamwork makes up a stronger team. To me, the theme in this movie is to not
give up and when the odds are against you, overcome them.

However, they lose the game to St Francis by just 2 points. Unlike many films, there is no perfect
sporting ending for Coach Carter. I always believe that to win a game or a battle is a form of
victory, instead this movie had taught me and widen my perception on victory. In Coach Carter,
victory does not determined on their last game but the victory is off the court in a way of how the
team has come together as one and the differences they make to their lives by changing their
outlook and future. It is true however that winning and the reward motivates us through the
challenges in our life but it s the journey itself which is made up of setbacks and challenges that we
faced and overcome, and realising on our weaknesses and strengths is what makes us achieves
Edward Abbey s Desert Solitaire
In Edward Abbey s Desert Solitaire, Abbey readily argues for the beauty of the desert and for its
complexity, yet simple life. Abbey clearly states that his purpose for writing this book is not for
the mere purpose of making a guide book to the beautiful Arches National Park in Utah, but rather
a eulogy to the dying wilderness of the desert, due to the spread of the commercialism. Similar to
Henry David Thoreau, a renowned environmental essayist in the 1840s, Abbey believes in
removing oneself from the life the metropolis lifestyle and secluding oneself in the wilderness of
nature and relishing its simplicity of life. Abbey is no stranger to believing in the ideology that we
as a human race inherently belong out in the natural world. In Desert... Show more content on

Abbey detests the lives we lead, particularly in the city. A life in which we heavily rely on
invented technologies for our convenience. He especially criticizes how the development of
nature sites in general, or for the mere reason to serve the people and accommodate the people s
needs in the wild. It is for this reason that Abbey craves to live outside of the society s influence
and rule, and to live out on one s own in solitude. The wilderness gives him a sense of freedom
and offers him a refuge from humanity s cultural dependency on the ever constant development of
technology. To him, it is a shame, and even a sin to life, to see humanity consuming and
exploiting the very thing that sustains us: But the love of the wilderness is more than a hunger
for what is always beyond reach; it is also an expression of loyalty to the earth, the earth which
bore us and sustains us, the only paradise we ever need if only we had the eyes to see. Original sin,
the true original sin, is the blind destruction for the sake of greed of this natural

burnt carriages, blankets, dresses, and baskets. Cannons and broken down artillery

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Presidential Candidates
The Strengths and Weaknesses of the System of Choosing Presidential Candidates
It seems reasonable to conjecture that the Achilles heel of the modern presidency is one of
recruitment. The long winded delegate nomination process could in theory be replaced by a daylong
direct election of presidential candidates. Instead, tradition dictates that the presidential race is drawn
out quadrennially over the pre primary, primary, Party Convention and campaign seasons. All four
phases influence the outcome of candidate selection and much also depends on campaign finance,
the role of the media and the nominees themselves.
Although the process is considered a complex, drawn out affair in the eyes of ... Show more content

In Caucuses, the power to select delegates, who are sent to nominate presidential candidates at the
National Party Convention, rests with Party activists who meet first at a local, then county and
finally at a state level to make their choices. The caucus system propounds the strength of the
Party elite who have an overriding influence as to who is chosen. As Ragsdale observed (1993,
p.95), the system tended to be dominated and controlled by party bosses, as deals were cut in
smoke filled rooms, rather than by ordinary rank and file members. This was far from democratic,
and since the controversy surrounding Humphrey s nomination for the Democratic Party in 1968,
the McGovern Fraser Commission established reforms which saw the advent of the Media Primary.
Since 1972, this procedure has become the system with gravitas: 77% of the votes cast by
Republican delegates in 1988 came from those selected by primaries. These state wide intra party
elections mean that any supporters can vote for a nominee to send to the National Convention and
although these elected delegates still formally select the presidential candidate, it is rarely more
than a ratification of the preferences expressed by ordinary voters. This encouraged a higher level
of political participation, as voters could feel a part of the decision making process. Some primaries,
such as Michigan State, saw a significantly
Soviet-Afghan War Essay
When the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan on December 1979, the goal was to help Afghan
communist forces set up a communist government. The Soviet Union felt Afghanistan had key
resources and a foothold in the Middle East to spread communist ideas. The result would be a war
that the Soviet Union wishes it never got involved in and likened to their Vietnam War , meaning
winning a number of battles but not the war like what happened to the U.S. in Vietnam. The
background of the war, outcome of the war, and impact on the United Statesare key to understanding
the Soviet Afghan War. The war began on December 27, 1979 when Soviet paratroopers invaded
Kabul, Afghanistan. The Soviet troops made assaults on key positions like military and... Show more

The Mujahideen would prove to be too powerful of a foe for the Afghan army to control so the
Soviets took charge. More than 100,000 Soviet troops would control major cities and towns, making
the Mujahideen move to the Afghanistan mountains and countryside. Most of the battles would
occur in the mountains with the Soviet army with helicopter support trying to lure the Mujahideen
out of the mountains. The mountains and countryside would provide the Mujahideen with the
ultimate hiding spots and able to use guerilla tactics. The Soviets would bomb civilian locations near
the mountains and countryside to cutoff support to the Mujahedeen but this failed with civilians
fleeing from Afghanistan to nearby countries like Pakistan and Iran. The Soviet army was no match
for the climate in Afghanistan and the religious determination of the Mujahideen. The Mujahideen
was able to gain the upperhand when shoulder fired antiaircraft missiles were supplied to them by
United States through Pakistan and other equipment by Muslim supporting groups. The Mujahideen
was not organized into one big fighting force but comprised of different sects fighting to dispel
Soviet forces. With now acquiring weapons from outside sources and being joined by Muslim
volunteers from all over the world, the Mujahideen were able to defeat the mighty Soviet Union. The
outcome of the Soviet Afghan War was the Soviet Union failing

Oh, Beast, Beast, why did you die? I was getting to love you so much. The movie beastly is very
similar to the story beauty and the beast. However, even through all of the similarities it is also
easy for one to spot the drastic differences between the two. Beauty and the beast focuses more

on this point, but adds in an extra aspect of vanity on top of this. Beastly as well as Beauty and the
