Class Inequality Impacted Individuals On The Lower End Of...
Many individuals in the country are struggling to make ends meet on a good day, so what happens
when disaster strikes? They are unprepared, have a harder time recovering, and their risk and
devastation are increased in the disaster. Class inequality impacts individuals on the lower end of
the scale. They have less access to resources to prepare themselves before the disasterstrikes, and
after disaster strikes they have even less resources to recover with. Lower class individuals are
also at a higher risk of devastation during a disaster because they cannot always escape before the
disaster hits or have the potential to live in areas that are less likely to be affected. Individuals
with less resources are often times unprepared for disasters because all of their time, money, and
energy is spent on what is currently happening. For many, they cannot afford to pay all of their
bills on time and cannot put money back for emergencies that may or may not happen. A lot of
individuals with lower incomes or no incomes are already living in places that are unsafe, and
many do not own their own homes and do not have renter s insurance because in their opinion that
is an extra unnecessary bill. Some individuals are not healthy enough to prepare for disasters
because they cannot afford health care and can barely work enough to stay in poverty and out of
homelessness. In the case of homeless individuals, they have no resources whatsoever. If they live in
shelters or on the streets
Descriptive Essay On Mexican Mayan Temple
5 Must see Mexican Mayan Temples

Without a doubt, one of the most visually stunning and physically overwhelming things I ve come
across on my travels are the ancient temples of Central America. In this article, I m going to delve
into some of the ones I was lucky enough to experience. Now, it s important to point out early on,
that this is by no means a list of the best temples and covers only a very, very small portion of a
vast expansive network of temples scattered across the continent. However, this is a list of my
personal favourites and of temples, I would highly recommend anyone in the area (or thinking of
going to the area) visits.

In many senses, Tulum has it all. White beaches, crystal clear water, friendly locals and to top it all
off, overlooking the serene beach, a Mayan temple. Situated on the Yucatán Peninsula ... Show more

Teotihuacán The Valley of the Dead, Temple of the Feathered Serpent, Pyramidof the Moon and The
Pyramid of the Sun. All spectacles in their own right. All undoubtedly must sees , but all in one
place? Teotihuacan.

The place with all of this and much more sits approximately 25 miles Northeast of Mexico City, in
the San Juan Teotihuacán municipality. Covering a total surface area of 32 square miles and with
an estimated population of more than 125,000 at its peak, Teotihuacán is a goliath complex which
consists of multiple elements. Including an impressive array of temples. Predictably, when you step
foot on the Avenue of the Dead and you gaze down the wide expansive pathways at the Pyramids of
the Moon Sun, you feel small. Very small. The reason being, not only is the Pyramid of the Sun the
third largest in the world (after Cholula Giza) but further down the valley overshadowing The Moon
is the mountain Cerro
The US Involvement In The Space Race
The space race, a competition to show superiority of technology and military firepower. The
United States should have entered the space race. If the United States would not have entered the
space race Russian communism would have had a big achievement over democracy America.
Russia s early success in the space race was used to show that communism was superior. The early
success was also used to show that the economy, science, and culture developed faster under
communist rule(Space Race). The launch of Sputnik I set the space race in motion(Wall). Sputnik I
was the first satellite launched into orbit. Sputnik I was no larger than a beach ball that sent
meaningless signals back to earth(The Space Race). Russia had a second big achievement when

Analysis of Graphic Novel Persepolis

Persepolis is a graphic memoir which portraits Marjane Satrapi s live when she was young and the
lively recent history of Iran. Satrapi mentions the historic evolution, sexism and revolution of the
citizen which happen in her childhood. She only used black and white in her graphics, which
makes the memoir doleful, even there are graphics that appear happiness, it is being sarcastic or
eventually turns out to tragedy. For instance, people are satisfied when the shah departs but they
don t know there would be a tempest coming soon after all and causing tons of deaths.
(P.42,Persepolis) the effect of using black and white also intensify the horror of the tragic Iran
history which is full of prejudice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Christian Rap And The Music
As I sat in my chair of the fancy hall (which name I cannot remember for the life of me) last spring
when transferred to DBU for the spring SWAT I was tuning in to different conversations around the
room. Everyone was having a good time, talking, laughing, and expressing concern about missing
home. All was fine until one of the staff members put music on, but not just any genre they put on
ChristianRap (gasp and pause for dramatic effect) I then heard the displeasure start arising from
the group of homeschoolers as they began to say why are they playing this filth? , why are they
allowing this, rap is so disgusting! I sat and pondered, This is definitely Christian Rap and not
secular rap, why are they freaking out? then it dawned on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But if lost people hear the comments of the homeschoolers that I heard we will just be seen as stuck
up and higher than the lost person. With that our ministry and witness will began to crumble. Christ
met people where they were, so why should the Christians of today s culture do the same for the lost
souls?
As someone who did not grow up in church and did not become a Christian until a few years ago
was learning that secular music, while not honoring Christ at all can be used as a ministry.
Knowing the love of Christ helped me to hear a deeper meaning in rap songs when I listened to
them. Through that I began to see that in every rap song there was some type of brokenness to the
artist as they rapped about going through multiple girls but not finding the right one, having all this
money but never enough stuff, and looking for conformation from all the wrong people. People,
especially Christians want to look down on the rap community because the lifestyle they live in but
they cannot see that these very same people that are idolized by the world are just as broken as we
are/were. Without an understanding of this music how can we show lost people that they can listen
to the style that they are so found of while worshipping the God that made them?
My youth minister helped me change the way I worship by not judging the rap I was listening to,
but instead pointed me into a further direction of worship with God. I was getting set to drive us to
a youth rally
Jimmy Carter Rhetorical Analysis
Americans were enduring trying times before the 1980 presidential election. Fifty two American
soldiers had been taken hostage in Iran, and America was entering a period of stagflation (Economy
in the Reagan Era). Tensions ran high among Americans, and the upcoming presidential election
between incumbent Jimmy Carterand retired actor Ronald Reaganwas going to be the first step in
solving these issues. But who to choose? Retired Governor of California Reagan knew that if he
was to have any chance of beating Jimmy Carter, he needed to prove his competency. In his election
eve speech, Reagan effectively convinces his audience that he is the best candidate for president
through emphasizing his superiority to Carter paired with his unification of the nation. In an event
as competitive as a presidential election, it is not enough to simply build oneself up; one has to also
take down their opponent. Instead of rudely pointing out flaws, however, Reagan criticizes Carter in
a nonconfrontational way. Through a series of rhetorical questions, such as Are you happier today
than when Mr. Carter became President of the United States? , Reagan implies that Carter did an
inadequate job as president while not directly stating any grievances. His questions are leading and
imply a negative response. This tactic, paired with Reagan s self promoting, leads to a more
favorable view of Reagan than that of Carter.

In regards to his self promoting, Reagan s first priority is to

Pros And Cons Of Ebola
The common factor in the previously mentioned military depictions is the external component: in all
the listed metaphors and narrative conventions, the danger or risk is foreign an alien element
intruding in a previously balanced and healthy organism (or society) and attacking it. As we
determined previously, western societies were well aware of Ebolaand its dangers but panic seems to
have only struck once the disease made it overseas. Sociologist Deborah Lupton gives a rather
adequate insight as to why this is: in her book entitled Risk, she found that people, by nature, tend to
overestimate risk once it becomes more likely to happen to themselves (Lupton, 1999, p. 21). She
adds that risks that are seen to be rare but memorable tend to be overestimated while those that are
considered to be common and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike HIV or other global viruses, Ebola is until this day geographically restrained, facilitating the
deduction that the responsible originated from West Africa or returned from areas confirmed as
danger zones. The list of suspects is indeed rather short: it amounts to Western Africans travelling to
America and U.S. citizen contaminated in the same region. The latter category is, as cases in the
western world indicate, consisted virtually exclusively of humanitarian helpers and health personal
having been in contact with Ebola patients. Albeit these categories are subject to broad
generalizations, they are the fruit of the apparent human condition to investigate, regardless of the
rationality behind the reasoning. Seale baptised these generalisations health imagined communities

differ from real risk communities as much in their consequences as they do in their
Lord Of The Flies Literary Analysis
The Beast Within The Lord of the Flies portrays the years of adolescence in a way not commonly
perceived. In the novel, William Golding depicts childhood as times of tribulation and terror when
the children are put in certain adult like situations. Without mature role models to look up to,
children turn to other children for leadership. Additionally, when given the chance children would
rather play around than do manual labor. Lastly, children stray to savagery without rules or social
boundaries. Therefore, Goulding effectively portrayed the attitudes of adolescents which shaped the
meaning of the book as a whole. When children are without adultauthority, they look for an adult
like person for leadership. In the beginning of the book, when the boys realize they are all alone,
they to Ralph for leadership. A quote to represent this is, But there was a stillness about Ralph as
he sat that marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance; and most obscurely, yet
most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that, had sat waiting for them on
the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees, was set apart (Golding 15). This quote
shows how the boys are drawn to Ralph because of his physical characteristics and because he had
set a rule, which was to give attention to the person holding the conch. As a result of there being no
adults on the island, the boys are be attracted to Ralph as their leader. However, towards the end of

Film Whitewashing Essay
This semester we had the opportunity to learn about African Americans and Latinas/os in film and
television. Throughout the semester we learned about the following terminology; feminism, white
supremacy, representation, intersectionality, stereotypes, whitewashing, and many more. As a group
project, my group and I decided to focus on whitewashing in the movie industry. We researched the
history, impacts, and the importance of whitewashing in society. Our main goal was to learn
different ways to prevent it from happening, and also about the implemented action plans that are
being executed towards whitewashing.
As we all know Hollywood has been criticized and known for the many whitewashed roles that are

Environmental Issues Of Invasive Mussels
There are many environmental issues across the world. They range from many different areas. In
the oceanic category of environmental issues, invasive mussels are a vast issue to our man made
waters and lakes. There are many types of invasive mussels in our lakelets. To illustrate: Zebra
and Quagga mussels. We must become aware, and raise awareness as to what they are doing to
the waters. They cause concerns regarding our recreation and dishearten the basic makeup of our
oceanic food chain. There are solutions in place respecting the issue. We must study as to what
these invasive mussels are doing to our environment, and how much it will impact the food chain.
Zebra and Quagga mussels are creatures, similar to clams that diminish nutrients in the water
mouths, and reproduce expeditiously. For example, in the article Invasive Mussels by the Utah
DNR, it states, They are small clam like creatures that reproduce rapidly and deplete nutrients in
the water. This shows the initial evidence given. We must fathom what invasive mussels are doing
to our water basins. As well, we need to become aware of the depletion of water nutrients, that are
necessary to survival of the species. Invasive mussels have become a crucial environmental issue.
Let s see how and what happens when they impact our location. The Zebra and Quagga mussels
threaten our recreation and structures. As well, they jeopardize the oceanic food chain. A reference
to this is in the article Invasive Mussels by

Jilting in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Katherine Anne Porter s The Jilting of Granny
Weatherall Webster s dictionary defines the word jilt as the act of rejecting a lover. So to be
deserted by another, left at the altar, or unwanted by another, is to be jilted. In William Faulkners A
Rose for Emily and in The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter, Emily and Granny
Weatherall throughout the course of their lives experience jilting several times. In turn, this rejection
places a significant emphasis on both of their lives.

With this discovery, Emily knew she could never have him and could not bear the thought of
another man that she loved leaving her. This must have been the breaking point for her. Emily
was determined not to let another man leave her for the third time. Therefore she purchased the
arsenic so she could be with him forever. The last person to see Homer was a neighbor as the
Negro man was admitting him in at the kitchen door at dusk one evening. Again, Emily submerged
herself into the familiar calm of isolation until her death. After her funeral, the narrator (the town)
paints the picture of their discovery in the room above the stairs. A room in which no one had
seen in for forty years. The man himself lay in the bed. For a long while we just stood there,
looking down at the profound and fleshless grin. The body had once lain in the attitude of an

The Origins Of The Origin Of Philosophy
The origins of philosophy began with the dynamic question of What if? followed by intellectual
reasoning for the ways of the world. To look past the general purpose of life and the things that
come with it; is when a new philosophy is discovered. The first recorded philosopher came about
early on in the sixth century B.C.E. His name was Thalesof Miletus or what is now Turkey. The first
three philosophers, Thales, Anaximander, and Anaximenes, are known as the Milesians because
they all came from the Greek colony of Miletus on the Persian coast and because they constitute the
first school of philosophy. (Pg. 24) However, little is known about Thales due to the fact, there
weren t any pieces of literature connecting to him. However, he did make it known that everything is
fundamentally made up of water. This belief went against the theological perspectives of Greek
mythology, introducing a more scientific view of the cosmos. Thales made it known that he wanted
to find the Archeor unifying principle that linked every aspect of life together. According to Thales,
water is the one and only Arche.
Two of Thales successors and fellow Milesians, Anaximander and Anaximenes based their beliefs
off of Thales philosophy. However, they didn t seem to agree with Thales ideology of everything
being broken down to water. Anaximander completely dismissed the idea of the four primary
elements, earth, wind, fire, and water being the Arche. He believed the elements could not be the

The Myth Of The Robber Barons Summary
In a book published in 1991 by Burt Folsom, The Myth of the Robber Barons is essentially a book
about two theories competing against one another, which is the political versus the market
entrepreneurs. The book adamantly persuades the reader into believing market entrepreneurship has
provided Americans with greater results versus political entrepreneurs featuring from real life
scenarios to back up Mr. Folsom claims. He pointed out several market entrepreneurs in his book
such as J.D. Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, James Hill and Charles Schwab as ones who helped
changed the economic climate for Americans by providing superior and lower cost products and/or
services than its competitors. Mr. Folsom continued to shine light on several political... Show more

Mr. Folsom wrote The Myth of the Robber Baron because he believed sides of how America
became a world power was left out due to some entrepreneurs who help paved the way for
businesses today. With that belief, there is an abundance of knowledge to be learned starting from
the first chapter of Vanderbilt versus Collins/Fulton paving the way for the future of business
dealings. Knowledge to be gained was presented by Victor Niederhoffer where he states the reasons
to read The Myth of the Robber Barons as making the reader understand the sources of wealth and
progress in society, hinting on how to run a business successful and showing the key to success in
business was lowering costs, attention to detail, improved technology and sound financial structure
(Niederhoffer). Furthermore, today s business government relationship is ever important because the
government has continue to dabble in the expansion of business industries by covering costs and
imposing taxes without developing opportunities for businesses to create themselves and provide the
goods and services that is needed to keep The United States as a world power. Now more than ever,
good and services are being provided by countries not named The United States and government is
allowing those standards to continue because its cheaper for businesses outside America to develop
goods and services for Americans. Ultimately, The Myth of the Robber Barons is influential to today
s businesses because it reveals the implications of political involvement through government and not
where it needs to be, which is in the hands of the
Water Hypothesis Lab Report
Discussion
Hypothesis 1: Experiment 1, I accepted my oil hypothesis because the oil formed a thin even layer
on top of the water and resumed after I stirred it up with the wooden stick. Vinegar hypothesis: I
accepted because the vinegar was only identifiable by smell. Laundry detergent hypothesis: I
accepted because the laundry detergent contaminated the water by changing the color to greenish
blue and formed bubbles. They all had an effect on either the smell or consistency of the water. The
detergent seemed to be the most potent when it came to the water, only because it changed the smell,
the color and the constancy of the water.
In experiment 2, I accepted my hypothesis because the filtration experiment removed most
contaminants. The coagulants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

would say that Fuji is closest to the purest because it had a filtration process called disinfection,
fewer contaminants and low levels of contaminates.
Bottled water is big business Cornell University states major brands of bottled water use tap water as
their source, but they do put it through more treatment steps to ensure the water is of good quality
(Cornell University, 2013). The EPA has certain standards and regulates treatment plants that test
water for almost 100 chemicals, and water suppliers must notify communities if their water is
contaminated or unsafe for consumption.
A possible factor that could have affected the results of my experiments were not properly cleaning
out the graduated cylinder between each use as instructed. Also, I purchased the e science lab kit

could have affected the water quality because according to the EPA climate does affect water
quality (EPA, 2015). Another factor that I m sure affected my results were not paying attention to
detail for experiment 3. I may have emerged the test strips in the water samples too long causing
miscalculation. I couldn t figure out how to use my stopwatch. I begin to guess the time
