Today (Jan 1) China Airlines has set a new milestone for workplace gender equality by launching a new
pantsuit uniform in keeping with global trends in the aviation industry. All women in front-line service roles
including ground crews, ticketing staff, and flight attendants at Songshan Airport, Taoyuan Airport, and
Kaohsiung Airport can now either wear the pants or skirt uniform based on their personal preferences or the
nature of their work. The move will enhance work quality by ensuring the personal comfort of employees.
China Airlines is now making the existing pantsuit uniform available for female front-line service staff, and
ground and air crews. The pantsuit uniform will be progressively distributed to all staff and the first batch can be
worn beginning today. Existing pants and skirt uniforms were all designed with work safety and convenience in
mind, and are made from an anti-static fabric for work environments. In the future, employees can choose to
rotate between the two styles of uniforms depending on their duties or the weather.
Serving flight attendant said that the pantsuit uniform was like a breath of fresh air. They maintained the same
elegant look but allowed the staff to handle their work with more finesse. Staff also felt more at ease carrying
out common tasks such as kneeling to pick up an item, adjusting luggage aboard the plane, bending over to
greet travelers, or cleaning up in the cabin. Comfort is greatly improved in cold countries as well. Flight
attendants will choose the appropriate uniform option depending on their work or the weather.
Ground staff felt that the pantsuit uniform was well made and fitted. In addition to being warmer in winter, they
also improved the agility of the wearer during luggage-handling or apron supervision operations. The additional
uniform option provided by the Company was therefore well-received.
Employee diversity development has always been a priority for China Airlines, Taiwan’s flagship airline. The
introduction of pantsuit uniforms for women in front-line service positions broke down the traditional stereotype
of female service staff wearing mainly skirt suits. Making both uniform options available in the future will not
only preserve the gentle grace that China Airlines is renowned for but also emphasize the professionalism of
modern women. The diversification of uniform styles means front-line staff can now choose the most
comfortable option for them and provide a better service from the heart.

China Airlines, a Taiwan based carrier, took part in The Aviation Challenge (TAC), launched by the SkyTeam
Alliance, for the third consecutive year, and introduced a one-time value chain collaboration on passenger-
carrying flights, a first for the Taiwanese aviation industry. The outstanding performance of China Airlines was
recognized by SkyTeam with the Future Proofing Strategies award, as well as being shortlisted in the
Maximized Adoption of TAC Solutions, Best Team Collaboration, and Best Climate Literacy categories.
Now in its third year, the SkyTeam TAC was expanded to include non-member airlines for the first time. This
year’s TAC was the biggest ever with 33 flights from 23 airlines around the world in the running. The award
ceremony for the third TAC was held on January 15 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and awards were presented in the
three categories of Putting It Into Practice, Working Together, and Embedding It in the Business. The sharing
and exchange of knowledge between allied airlines was used to promote friendly competition on sustainability.
China Airlines demonstration flight was conducted on September 4, 2024, by the A350-900 aircraft offering
next-generation fuel-efficiency. Flights CI100/CI101 between Taipei and Tokyo (Narita) were flown as low-
carbon flights in collaboration with a corporate client and fuel supplier. In addition to using 20% Sustainable
Aviation Fuel (SAF) on the flight back to Taiwan, the flights were made net zero by making all passengers and
cargo on CI100/CI101 carbon neutral. China Airlines was shortlisted for four awards including Maximized
Adoption of TSFC Solutions, Best Team Collaboration, Climate Literacy, and Future Proofing Strategies. The
airline was shortlisted for more awards than any other Asian airline and emerged from the pack to win the
“Future Proofing Strategies”, an outstanding performance that highlighted China Airlines’ leadership in
sustainability once again.
China Airlines owed its success at TAC awards this year to its implementation of Net Zero by 2050 initiatives in
concert with global response on climate change. Five core strategies including improving fuel efficiency,
upgrading of TCFD operations and emergency response systems, promoting the use of Sustainable Aviation
Fuels (SAF), participation in international fuel standards, and introduction of new technologies were also
employed to progressive this goal. China Airlines will continue to strengthen its collaboration with international
organizations by contributing the information and data it collects to UN and other international climate change
research efforts. Climate adaptation of route operations will be enhanced as well.
The outstanding sustainability performance of China Airlines has won widespread international recognition. This
year the carrier became the first Taiwanese airline to receive a corporate credit rating of “twA-” from Taiwan
Ratings, and the first Taiwanese transportation company to pass the Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
review. At the same time, China Airlines won a gold award at the first ESG Logistics Sustainability Awards; was
selected for the FTSE4Good Index Series for the ninth time; won the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award for
the 11th consecutive year including the top award for Service Industry - Best Report in the Sustainability
Reporting category for the third consecutive year; and was also ranked among the top 5% of the global aviation
industry during the S&P Global Sustainability evaluation. China Airlines continues to combine substantive
action with its business strategy and sustainability philosophy, creating a better future for our planet.

China Airlines, a Taiwan-based carrier, has partnered with non-profit organizations, Chi Po-lin Foundation and
the Chin-Ai Music, to create a new boarding video that will premiere on all flights in March. The video will
showcase the beauty of Formosa from the sky to travelers around the world , along with original music inspired
by local Taiwanese culture. Every flight will become an opportunity for China Airlines to communicate its
commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
The theme of the latest boarding video is China Airlines Takes Flight with the Seeds of Environmental
Education. The video showcases China Airlines’ pioneering of passenger-carrying flights with Sustainable
Aviation Fuel, ECO travel for all passenger and cargo flights, and other sustainability initiatives. Footage from
the renowned documentary Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above shot by Po-lin Chi, the greatest aerial
photographer of his generation, was incorporated to present the beauty of the mountains, rivers, seas, cities,
and people in Taiwan. The background music for the video was composed by Chin-Ai Music, an orchestra
made up of indigenous students from Chin-Ai Tribal Village deep in the Aowanda Forest of Nantou. The song
Walking Among the Clouds was performed and mixed by two teachers and 16 orchestra members. The notes
not only convey the natural and cultural beauty of Taiwan but also introduce the whole world to the unique
sound of the indigenous homeland.
Chin-Ai Music hails from Chin-Ai Village in Nantou, the heartland of the Atayal and Sediq peoples. The
orchestra founded by Pei-wen Chen and Tzu-Chien Wang is dedicated to introducing indigenous children to
music. They also established the Chin-Ai Music and Art Experimental Education Institute. In addition to
fostering musical and cultural exchanges, China Airlines’ latest collaboration with Chin-Ai Music represents its
heartfelt support for indigenous musical education and cultural heritage. China Airlines opens the world to
experience the rich music of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples and to witness its breathtaking landscape.
China Airlines is a long-time supporter of ESG and sustainability, conveying its commitment to environmental
sustainability and social responsibility with every flight. To fulfill its corporate social responsibility, in 2011 the
airline began recruiting employee volunteers to make regular visit to schools in indigenous areas to teach
aviation knowledge and English. The volunteers promoted modern learning methods and cultivated the
international horizons of the students. A charity pilot camp was also organized with Taiwan Fund for Children
and Families. Students were invited to become a pilot for a day to explore the skies and the future.
At the same time, merchandise from the Chi Po-lin Foundation and Chin-Ai Music have been showcased by
China Airlines in its eMall. The Jiading Fish Ponds Silk Scarf, Taipei 101 Mountain Breeze Graphene Bucket
Hat, Mt. Jade Mug Set, In Focus Chi Po Lin Photo Album, Chin-Ai Music Illustrated Album, and Miniature
Painted Violin allow travelers to support charitable causes and take the beauty of Taiwan home with them.
The mission of China Airlines is to create more wonderful moments through flying. To uphold its sustainable
development philosophy of giving back to society and creating social value, China Airlines continues to promote
a wide range of social charity and environmental conservation projects that include caring for disadvantaged
elders and children, domestic industry-university cooperation, volunteer teaching, charity sports camp, coastal
clean-up, tree planting, and adoption of the Pangolin, a protected species, at Taipei Zoo. The images of Taiwan
and original music by Chin-Ai Music in the latest video not only show China Airlines’ support for Taiwan and the
fulfillment of its social responsibilities under ESG, but also communicate the determination of China Airlines to
use resources wisely and create sustainable value. (2025/2/26)

China Airlines (CAL), a Taiwan-based carrier, has strategically positioned itself for the future by signing a
memorandum of understanding (MOU) this month with Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories (CHTTL) to expand
the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology resources. The two companies will share their respective
industry applications and R&D technology to co-develop an integrated AI development and management
platform. This strategic move will not only make services more accessible to travelers but also define a new
roadmap for AI development in the airline industry.
As the first airline to form such a partnership with CHTTL, CAL will focus on enhancing the AI service
experience and strengthening corporate management of on-premises AI applications. The incorporation of “AI
interactive voice response” functionality with customer service chatbots into the CAL website will provide
travelers with additional answers to their inquiries, enhancing their overall experience. “Customer conservation
analytics” performed by generative AI will analyze and categorize questions in audio files in real time to help
customer service staff track common traveler questions with great precision. The data can also be used to
improve internal education and training as well as enhance the productivity and quality of customer service.
For internal enterprise management, CAL will combine AI “forecasting and early warning applications” with big
data to accurately predict the number and weight of luggage on each flight. The information can be used to
maximize the utilization of belly cargo space on passenger flights and cargo hold space on freighter flights,
which promises savings for the workforce. At the same time, the two companies will co-develop a “Smart
Generative AI Platform” that uses machine learning model management and the construction of large language
models (LLM) to accelerate the scaling and deployment of AI operations. The platform will also assist
businesses with more effective management of on-premises AI applications and shorten model development
time.
Research and development of telecommunications and information-communications technologies have always
been the focus of CHTTL. The Labs have played a key role in defining international standards and industrial
innovation as well. Current fields of research include the core technologies for broadband networking, mobile
networking, AI, and information security. CHTTL has already developed numerous AI applications for enterprise
use, including AI customer service chatbots, AI voice assistances, and the customer sentiment analysis
platform (DeepVoice). These solutions have been recognized by the Taiwan Excellence Awards, National
Brand Yushan Awards, and other top awards, demonstrating the quality and innovation of CHTTL's work. The
latest partnership will lead to new milestones in the use of smart AI technology in the Taiwanese airline
industry.
CAL continues to promote innovative services by incorporating the latest AI applications into its traveler
experience and into internal management to boost team productivity. In 2024, CAL became the first Taiwanese
carrier to receive the award for Best AI System Application Team at the Customer Service Excellence Awards
(CSEA). CAL will continue to track the latest developments in the AI industry and collaborate with leading
external organizations to build strategic partnerships that will accelerate AI development and boost international
competitiveness through smart airline AI services.

widebody aircraft and four 777-8F freighters, with an option to acquire nine more. Delivery of the new fleet is

exceptional aviation services.
The contract was signed by China Airlines Chairman Kao Shing-hwang and Brad McMullen, the Senior Vice
President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Boeing, during a ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency
Taoyuan International Airport. China Airlines President Chen Han-ming along with Administrative Deputy
Minister LIN Kuo-Shian from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications were present to witness the
contract signing. Chairman Kao stated that the 777-9 passenger aircraft and the 777-8F freighter represent the
latest generation of Boeing aircraft. The 777-9 passenger aircraft will be the mainstay on high-volume North

three-class configuration of Premium Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. The proportion of Premium
Business Class seats will also be increased to meet the demand from the premium travel segment and provide
travelers with a more comfortable experience. The 777-8F freighter has a high level of commonality with the ten
777F freighters already in service with China Airlines and will make a key contribution to China Airlines’ bottom-
line in the future.
China Airlines continues to implement its fleet renewal program and optimize its aircraft mix. The 777-9
passenger aircraft offers a higher arched ceiling, improved cabin air exchange system, and dynamic LED mood
lighting. A more spacious cabin and a brand new design will offer travelers a new level of comfort on long-
distance flights. The cargo hold on the 777-8F freighter has the same specifications as the 777F freighter to
give greater flexibility for management and dispatching. The productivity of cargo handlers is also improved and
the risk of colliding cargo reduced. The order will support the expansion of the cargo network, improve range
and payload, and boost growth in the cargo business.
Brad McMullen, Senior VP of Commercial Sales and Marketing at Boeing, said the company was proud of its
almost 60-year partnership with China Airlines. China Airlines will also become the first carrier in Taiwan to join
the 777X club. The advanced technology and design incorporated into the 777-9 passenger aircraft will provide
China Airlines’ travelers with the best flying experience. The 777-8F freighter’s range and high fuel-efficiency
will also help China Airlines maintain its lead in the cargo market.
The 777-9 passenger aircraft and 777-8F freighters have wings built out of composite materials and are
powered by the General Electric GE9X engine. Its outstanding fuel efficiency and environmental performance is
expected to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 25%, and will play a crucial part in China
Airlines’ bid to achieve net zero by 2050. The continued introduction of next-generation fleet represents China
Airlines’ commitment to the steady growth of its global network, its fleet modernization strategy, as well as its
determination to lead the Asia-Pacific and fly worldwide. (2025/05/08)

China Airlines (CAL, a Taiwan-based carrier) announced that it is partnering with the cargo pricing, booking and
sales platforms “WebCargo by Freightos” and “cargo.one” to provide one-stop services for capacity searching,
instant pricing, and online bookings. Customers can use the platforms to find the next available cargo space
that meets their requirements then make a booking directly through the convenient online booking system. The
all-new cargo service is the first of its kind in the Taiwanese airline industry.
Integrated cargo pricing and booking services have already been used overseas for many years. Now, China
Airlines is taking the lead by working with these two renowned international platforms “WebCargo by Freightos”
and “cargo.one”. The new services set to launch on June 2 and June 10, respectively. In Phase One, the
system will cover the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Freight
forwarders can easily search for the most suitable cargo spaces and quotation through the platforms,
streamlining the booking process and enhancing overall efficiency. China Airlines will continue to expand the
scope of its business collaboration with the platforms and it is highly likely that these convenient air cargo
services will become available in Taiwan in the future.
China Airlines Cargo has extensive experience transporting all kinds of cargo ranging from food, clothing,
accommodation, travel, education, and recreation. By joining “WebCargo by Freightos” and “cargo.one”, the
carrier aims to expand its market presence through the boundless connectivity of the Internet. This strategic
move will enable the airline to connect with new customer segments and cargo sources in different regions, to
study customers’ booking preferences through big data, and to introduce new products that are aligned with
market demand. China Airlines is optimistic that the integrated platforms will provide a steady boost and
increase cargo volume by nearly one hundred tonnes a month. At the same time, personnel costs will be
reduced and the overall supply chain efficiency will be improved.
China Airlines strives to maintain a stable level of cargo capacity and strengthen the overall network as part of
its commitment to corporate sustainability. All ten fuel-efficient aircraft of the 777F fleet have now been
delivered and combined with the eight high-capacity aircraft of 747F fleet to generate dual-model synergies. In
2024, the airline placed an additional order for four 777-8F freighters, which feature the same cargo
configuration as the 777F, the carrier’s primary freighter model. The introduction of the platforms will further
enhanced operational flexibility and dispatching efficiency, improve payload capability, and increase overall
productivity. Data for apron operations are stored electronically on PDA mobile devices, significantly reducing
paper consumption while improving loading/unloading accuracy. China Airlines will continue to strengthen its
market competitiveness by delivering reliable and high-quality cargo services.

China Airlines (CAL), a Taiwan-based carrier, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (TSMC)
announced the launch of the “SAF Carbon Reduction Program for Corporate Business Travel” in support of
World Environment Day. For the first time, a local airline will use domestically produced Sustainable Aviation
Fuels (SAF) for corporate business travel and utilize the carbon credit scheme to promote both low-carbon air
travel and share the carbon reduction benefits. The two companies are supporting Taiwan’s energy transition
through their actions and will work together to realize the goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
China Airlines is an industry leader in SAF. This year, the airline expanded its purchasing of SAF from local fuel
manufacturers to refuel international flights departing from Taipei (Taoyuan). SAF can reduce carbon emissions
by up to 80% over its full lifecycle compared to conventional jet fuels. The “Corporate SAF Partnership
Program” is also being expanded to both upstream vendors and downstream customers. These initiatives will
promote the energy transition of the Taiwanese airline industry, support the development of low-carbon
transportation, and achieve the goal of a sustainable supply chain. TSMC is the global leader in semiconductor
manufacturing and a key corporate client of China Airlines. The new partnership to reduce carbon emissions for
travel business will help both companies meet their common ESG goals, establish a benchmark for mutual
sustainability, and usher in a new era for SAF development in Taiwan.
TSMC is committed to the fulfillment of its environmental commitments and low-carbon transformation. Its
expansion of green initiatives as well as the development of innovative energy-saving and carbon-reducing
technologies were a perfect match for China Airlines’ own ESG philosophy. The global presence of TSMC has
translated into strong demand for business travel by its employees. The latest partnership to reduce carbon
emissions for business travel is expected to reduce related carbon emissions by over 1,000 metric tons a year
and build a strong foundation for realizing the goals of net zero together. According to TSMC, China Airlines not
only provides high-quality flying services for its employees on business trips around the world, but the airline is
also leading the SAF drive in the industry. The two companies joining forces on the cross-sector promotion of
sustainability action and support for the energy transition of the value chain is of tremendous symbolic value.
Sustainability has long been promoted by China Airlines. It was not only the first airline in Taiwan to introduce
SAF on ferry flights of new aircraft deliveries in 2017, but also the first Taiwan-based carrier to add SAF on a
passenger-carrying commercial flight. The airline even partnered with businesses to operate the first one-time
collaboration with the value chain on a passenger flight and operated the first freighter fueled with SAF in
Taiwanese history, redefining the paradigm for the sustainable development of the air cargo value chain. China
Airlines will uphold its pioneering strategy by continuing to cooperate with local aviation fuel suppliers. Supply
chain vendors and customers will also be invited to join in supporting the carbon reduction targets of the
Taiwanese airline industry as well as the energy transformation of the transportation industry.
