LEARNING OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils will be able to:
1. Understand specific information and details of simple texts of one or two paragraphs
2. Recognise and use with little or no support key features of a simple monolingual
dictionary
SUCCESS CRITERIA 1. Pupils can read and answer at least 5 questions correctly with the teacher guidance
2. Pupils can read and answer at least 5 questions correctly without the teacher guidance.
ACTIVITIES Pre-lesson:
1. "Wh questions"- Pupils are asked whether they heard or read the story about the emperor's
nightingale.
Lesson development:-
1. Pupils are asked to open their textbook page 24 and 25. Pupils are asked several
questions related to the pictures in the textbook.
2. Pupils are asked to listen the CD audio that the teacher provided twice. Using the wh
questions pupils are asked the understanding of the story from the audio.
3. Teacher guide and drilled the pupils to read the story after listening the audio. (Pause-
Actions: Teacher conduct the pause-actions to check the understanding of the
story).Teacher continue with the pupils for the reading sessions.
4. Pupils conduct the silent reading on their own for the second time.
5. Pupils are given worksheets by the teacher and explanation are given to the pupils to
answer the questions.
6. Pupils are asked the moral value behind the story.
Post-lesson:-
1. Pupils work are been checked.
