Dear reader,

‘Education is one of the most powerful things in life. It allows us to find the meaning
behind everything and helps improve lives in a massive way.’
Through Vidyalaya Patrika different aspects of children’s personality are groomed and
nurtured. I hope this would develop them as thoughtful, reflective, creative and concerned
citizens. When you make music or write or create, it's really your job to be mind-blowing with
whatever idea you're writing about at the time. The writer indeed has a universe in his mind and
the foremost thing about creativity is that it can’t be used up rather the more you use it the
more you generate.
I am glad to find that KV Pragati Vihar is bringing out its current edition of e-magazine. This is
a joint effort of students and teachers which is indeed an admirable way of creative expression
and a mirror of the growth and development of the Vidyalaya.
My heartiest congratulations to one and all engaged in the sublime task of teaching and
learning and wish that together they scale the formidable heights. As John Dewey says-
“Education is not preparation for life; Education is Life Itself.” Therefore, I must say ‘Start up
with whatever you have, use what you have and you must do what you can’.

Dear students,

Schooling is our first contact with the world, a period of joy, healthy competition, fearing,
adjustment, sharing and love. It is not the wide-open spaces, classrooms, the library,
laboratories or the large fields that make the school. It is in the heart of the students and staff
that the true institution exists.
Learning is lifelong progress. Today, we live in a world where change is riding an
accelerated pace and we need to pause and reflect on the entire education system. I believe that
students must be taught how to think, not what to think.
That school magazine is a mirror reflecting the creativity of young mind of the school.
I extend my warm wishes to the staff and students to continue this journey on the road of

A message to the Reader from the
Vice Principal’s Pen….

Life goes by in the blink of an eye. It’s too short to live


disturbed, disgusted and disappointed. If a person looks for
the good, he would definitely find it and if looks for the
otherwise; the same would be derived by him. Therefore, it is
always desirable to choose to be happy, to be at peace. I wish
that in our Vidyalaya we all decide that each day is going to
be a great day therefore one must grab each moment and
make the most of it. We must consciously refuse to let
negative thoughts take root in our minds and also refuse to
let negative people and situations drag us down. We must
trust the almighty and His will which must be for the good of
all. Through the journey of life if we make a mistake; it’s
okay but see to it that a lesson has been learnt and we keep
moving forward. We must strive to live in joy not in worry
and must remain grateful for those who love us, support us
and allow us to succeed in materialising our cherished
dreams and we must recognise and appreciate the goodness
in our life in myriad forms.

conscious efforts in the making of e- magazine.

Dear Readers,
‘To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it’s about, but the inner music the words make.’ –
Truman Capote
In agreement with the above quote, writing is the most valuable literary expression. The
inculcation of passion for creative thinking and writing amongst the students is one of the major
objectives set by Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pragati Vihar. ‘Vidyalaya Patrika’ has been a step towards it
and it has served as a great platform to vent out students’ passion for writing and encourage original
thinking within them.
This Patrika serves like a year book for the students. It’s a milestone that marks our growth,
unfolds our imagination and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations. It unleashes a wide spectrum of
creative skills ranging from writing to editing and even in designing the magazine.
Our student authors have put across some amazing pieces of writing displaying their creative
thinking and writing skills. The works include in this edition are extremely simple but will surely
provide an opportunity to peep into a child’s thought process and his or her axiomatic creative
thinking.
My thanks are due to Principal, Vice-Principal, editorial board, students and teachers to have
been of immense help in breathing life into these pages.

Annual Report (2019-20)

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pragati Vihar, New Delhi was established in 1965. The school runs in two shifts.
It is senior secondary Co-educational School with around 1400 students and 63staff members
altogether in both shifts. With its excellent infrastructure and the competent team of teachers the
school is dedicated to the overall development of the personality of each and every student. An
insightful curriculum with all drawn academic and co-curricular activities, combines with meticulous
planning and their execution with a purpose.
The school building comprises two wings- Primary and Secondary – with amenities like state-of-the-
Art e-classrooms, well equipped laboratories, resource room, medical room, counselling room, Playing
field, Science Park and so on. The following is an overview of the activities and events that took place
in this Vidyalaya in the academic year 2019-20.

Academics

Concerted efforts led to improvement in Class XII Board results. The Vidyalaya achieved 100% result
in AISSCE 2018-19 in Shift 1 and 100% in 1st Shift and 100% in 2nd Shift in AISSE 2018-19.

Use of ICT

Conference room, resource room and e-classrooms were utilized for instruction involving interactive
boards and i-pads. The e-classes were engaged on daily/ weekly basis as per the time-table.

Guidance and Counselling

The Vidyalaya conducted comprehensive guidance and counselling sessions for the students of classes
IX-XII to ensure their emotional well-being and to promote awareness of career options. Counselling
was offered to students of each and every class as per need.

Adolescent Education Programme

The Vidyalaya undertook AEP for classes VII-XII. Interactive sessions and competitions were
conducted imparting life skills to teenagers. Healthy growing up, gender sensitization, stress
management, time management and so on were among the topics covered.

Co-curricular Activities

❖ The wide ranging CCA Programme aimed at mass participation and all-round development of
students. The students were grouped into four Houses- Ganga, Yamuna, Alaknanda and Narmada
in first shift and second shift Houses are Geetanjali, Yashodhara, Anandmath and Neerja. The
Student Council was constituted and Investiture Ceremony was held in July 2019.
❖ Eco Club, Science Club, Maths Club, Integrity Club and Social Science Club conducted various
fruitful activities throughout the session.
❖ All events and celebrations as per KVS guidelines and in collaboration with various Central
Government agencies were elaborated.
❖ Special Programme on days and weeks related to environmental awareness and scientific temper
were organized by the Eco club. Environment Friendly Activities for school were conducted in
April ’19.

❖ Besides the special programme in the Morning Assembly for the promotion of Spoken English,
the CCA competition of Recitation and Debate were well received.
❖ Hindi Pakhwara was celebrated from 01.09.19 to 15.09.19. The competition included
versification, recitation, creative writing, speech, essay writing, calligraphy, skit, debate and quiz.
❖ KV Pragati Vihar have been awarded with the trophy for Active Participations in
Environment Awarness Programme and Plantation Drive.
❖ Angel Bisht of Class VIII got selected for NCSC at National Level.
❖ Celebration and observance of Vigilance week & various activities conducted with
collaboration BSF.

❖ Khan Academy Baseline Test and End line test been conducted in our Vidyalaya.

❖ 2 Students participated in Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge stage II held in our Vidyalaya.

❖ 50 Students participated in Solar Ambassador (SSA) Workshop which was a part of 2 Guinness
Book of World Record.

❖ Students visited MET Department and were shown equipment related to earthquake etc.
❖ IGKO rank holders Mudreeta Singh, Prasheetha Negi, Prachi and Daksh Pandey got
Zonal Rank 2,6,7 and 13 respectively of Class V

❖ NSO rank holder Yoza Saleem got medal and certificate of distinction at zonal level and was
selected for second level. He also secured 474th position in International Life Skills Olympiad
among 63 countries. Yoza Saleem is awarded Dan 2 Black Belt form Work Taekwondo
Headquarter, Kukkiwon, South Korea in 2019.
❖ The Vidyalaya celebrated birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October 2019 and
various events like rally, human chain formation, essay writing, slogan writing and painting
competition were organized at Vidyalaya.
❖ Out of sixteen modules 4 have been completed in each class under Awakened citizen programme
❖ Back to Basics programme is followed as per the guidance and regular monitoring of class
performance by teachers and H.M.
❖ Proper record maintenance of class test, Performa B (Monitoring by H.M.) and marks of class test
every month is maintained by H.M. and signed by principal to get the actual understanding of the
topic.
❖ Reuse & GO GREEN Project initiated: This year primary section has undertaken Classroom Go
Green Project where students are being inspired and guided to reuse plastic waste to grow green
plants. Importance of nurturing the plant and need of clean environment is being inculcated
among the students. The project is initiated and is being taken care of by the Primary Section
under the guidance of the Principal
❖ PUSTAKOPHAR: Students are motivated for “PUSTAKOPHAR” - A step towards building our
future & saving environment.
❖ The Vidyalaya organised ‘Tarunotsav’ to utilize the long gap post Class 10 board examination
that aimed to involve students in various activities including poster making, games, gardening,
yoga, music, SUPW, counselling and career guidance services
❖ During session the following student added feather in the cap of our vidyalaya by bringing laurels
in various fields.
❖ Roshni Das (class VIII 2nd Shift) made her mark in the field of solo singing by winning 1 prize at
cluster level and 2nd position at regional level.

❖ Divyam Dilip Mishra of class IX 2nd shift made us proud by reaching up to the national level in
science exhibition.
❖ Vaishnavi Banarjee (Class- IV,2nd Shift), Kritika (Class-V, 2nd Shift) and Neeraj Yadav (Class-
VIII, 2nd Shift) emerged as the budding artists and won Ist, 2nd and 2nd respectively along with
cash prizes and certificates in Drawing Competition organized by National Housing Bank. our
students are showing their caliber in sports also by begging various positions in National Sports
meet organized by KVS. Kapil (class 9th) won 3rd position in skating tournament and Mahima
(class 10th) won 2nd position in badminton.
❖ In Sanskrit shloka recitation one student named Arti of class 8th (2nd shift) secured 2nd position at
cluster level of Social Science Exhibition.

Swacchta Mission

❖ Lok Kala Manch presented a drama ‘Swachch Bharat’ to aware the children about cleanliness
around them in the month of May 2019.
❖ Sawachhta Pakhwara was celebrated for September 1-16, 2019 at the school and various
activities were organized.

Achievements of Teachers

❖ Dr Sayyada Aiman Hashmi, PGT of English was awarded Fulbright Teacher Excellence and
Achievement Program 2019 and will attend the program at University of Arkansas, USA.
❖ She also received KVS Regional Incentive Award 2019 and was shortlisted for KVS National
Incentive Award 2019 from Delhi Region too.
❖ Mr. Devender PRT of the Vidyalaya was selected for Volleyball Delhi Region Team in Staff
Tournament 2019.

Academic Inspection

❖ Panel Inspection of the Vidyalaya conducted on 20.01.2019 headed by Mrs Shilbala, AC, Delhi
Region, KVS.

Excursion

❖ Under the Common Minimum Programme of the Primary Section, students were taken to
Kidzania in November 2019.

Sports

❖ Mishti Rawat class IX got selected for SGFI for Delhi Region.

❖ The 6 Students of our Vidyalaya achieved various awards in NHB Drawing Competition at
Vigyan Bhawan.

FIT INDIA MOVEMENT

• In the context of the Fit India Movement started by our Hon’ble Prime Minister the
students have been indulged in different fitness activities and they are trying to
incorporate them into their day to day life.

PISA Program for International Student Assessment


It is an international level assessment for students of age group. It is a combination of
English, mathematics and science literacy. It aims at ranking the countries on the basis of
students’ performance in the assessment. Ministry of HRD has chosen the students of KVS
for participation in PISA in 2021. For preparing the students a pilot project was launched and
Khan Academy is providing enough practice to the students to prepare them to take the
assessment. It is an online platform where students can practice reasoning-based question
and asses themselves at their own pace. In our vidyalaya during block periods students were
given ample amount of time to Pisa level question.
It is anticipated that in 2021 students of K.V Pragati Vihar will come up with flying colours.

School Readiness Programme
‘Every learner requires physical and mental readiness to grasp the content.’
In order to fulfill this objective our school organizes a readiness program for tiny tots. Through
this six weeks program children are familiarized with school environment. Various activities
are organized on day-to-day basis to develop basic etiquettes among all the students.
Children are made to play various games so that learning becomes fun. After the completion
of readiness program students are prepared to face the challenges of school life in an easy
way.

Developing Proficiency In English


Learning English relishes, the quality of life. Imparting
proficiency in language should begin from the
kiddiewinks level. In our vidyalaya pupils are taught
various aspects of the language like pronunciation,
phonetics through manoeuvre. It aims at inculcating
proficiency amongst the students of organizing such
activities to enable the students to become
comfortable in spoken English. After every activity
student are evaluated and the best performer is
rewarded.

MOVIE SHOWS
Every now and then movies shows are organized in our
vidyalaya for primary students. Movies are great for visual
learners just like books, movies allow students insight into the
lives of different characters, how their perspective differs and
how they handle certain situations. Through movies various
values can be inculcated in the students. They also give little
relief from the stress of class room. KV Pragati Vihar has a huge

collection of DVDs obtained from Children Film Society. After every movie show students are
asked to write a few lines on their favourite character.

YOGA -THE WAY OF LIFE.


The Vidyalaya makes sure that students perform yoga for at least for five minutes everyday.
It aims at inculcating healthy life style amongst the students. It also brings together physical
and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind; It ultimately aims at making our
students healthy so that our country can have healthy and smart citizens capable of facing
the challenges of life.

Our Vidyalaya Is An Anger free zone.


In order to make students mentally active and emotionally
healthy our school has been converted into anger free
zone. The initiative is part of CBSE thrust on “joyful
education and holistic fitness”. Its recommendations
include not looking at cell-phones all the time. It will help
the students in developing effective skills and in
eradicating emotions like fear, disrespect and humiliation
which are the by-products of anger.

COMMON MINIMUM PROGRAMME

The Common Minimum Programme in KV PRAGATI VIHAR is being followed keeping the
norms set up by the KVS in teaching learning process in primary classes. The process of
teaching and learning is activity based. It is child centred and child oriented where individual
attention is given to each child. Late bloomers are given extra care and individual care is
being given by the concerned teachers.

The CMP has given a sense of direction to all the primary teachers as well as the
school administration. It is only after the implementation of CMP that the school environment
has become more vigorous to learning. The teachers are working hard to create a child
friendly atmosphere in the school. The children are encouraged in each and every field and
are given more exposure to participate in co-curricular activities, cluster level CCA and
Sports activities, etc. which in turn build confidence in them. Even late bloomers are given
chance to take part in morning assembly programme. The film shows, power point
presentations, dramatizations, role plays, etc. are making the teaching learning process very
interesting and motivating for the children that they come forward with their own creative
ideas. The school administration took the initiative of buying CBT and other interesting story
books based on values for the primary classes.

It can be said that the implementation of CMP has brought about positive changes
in the school atmosphere and the children will reap the fruits for a long time to come to
become a resourceful future citizen of this nation.

In a nutshell, all the efforts are being taken by the school administration as well
as the enthusiastic team of primary teachers of KV PRAGATI VIHAR to improve and
strengthen the quality of primary education in the primary.

CONSTITUTION DAY
Respecting the law of land – from the last month of
November we started celebrating constitution
day in our vidyalaya. It aimed at inculcating
political values amongst the pupils so that the
nation has well enlighted residentiary. Various
affairs were structured to fulfill the said
aspirations.
One of the most thrilling recreation was an inter
house quiz competition on constitution of
india.this gave a moment to our pupils, contenders and
spectators to have an overview of the nuts and bolts of the law
of the land.

SHOBHA YATRA
The KVS celebrated its much-awaited event “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Parv” a mega
cultural and literary youth extravaganza in the last week of October. The event is meant to
highlight and celebrate India’s Unity in Diversity and is an effort to preserve the widespread
emotional bonds among the people of our country. The event which was inaugurated at Lawn
No. 6 of India Gate, New Delhi, began with an alluring Shobha Yatra, a cultural march by the
participants to showcase the vision behind this celebration. The Yatra was also accompanied
by song, dance and artifacts in the
background.

also got an opportunity to participate in
SHOBHA YATRA. They represented
Jharkhand state. Their performance not
only added grace to the march but also
gave them the platform to showcase

The much-awaited event of KV Pragati Vihar finally happened on December 22, 2019. A
galore of people piled up together to feel the heartwarming event of the year, not just pupils
but the teachers also exhibited their zeal and excitement to make this event majestic and
mesmerizing to make it a day to remember.
Age is just a number when it comes to sports and activities. Teachers went into time and
relished the inner child in themselves. It was a day where everyone showed their calibre to
prove their physical and mental fitness of what they can achieve in sports. There were n
numbers of sets of games compiled together to make this day, a day full of a glory and mirth.
Not just children won medals but enjoyed their heart out. That is how they learnt not just
winning but also appreciated the value of team spirit.
To sum up the event we can just say that it was the most voguish day of the school.

Bal mela

I4th November is relished as children’s day in the memory of Jawahar Lal Nehru, our
Vidyalaya organized the most amusing even-t Bal Mela. This event was full of activities
where pupils were thrilled to adore every moment of it. Various stalls of edibles and games
were the center of attraction of the celebration; it gave the pupils the prospect of exploring
their caliber of leadership qualities and business minding skills. It was a revitalizing program
to develop the hidden skills in the children. Workability and team spirit was satisfied by
motivating self reliance and self confidence in the children. Attitude amongst peer also helped
them to be an ambient.

Scouts and Guides Activities
In our Vidyalaya special attention is being paid to scout guide activities under the
supervision of trained teachers. Every now and then camps are being organised to
enable the students to help others in adverse circumstances.

GRANDPARENT’S DAY
The most embarked day of the year has been celebrated on 14 February 2020, the
Grandparents day. Grandparents play a vital role in the family as it is said roots are the
study part of the tree that provides stability, safety, wisdom and fun. A garden of love
grows in a grandparent’s heart. A grandparent’s love does not recognise any boundaries.

According to Francis Bacon, travelling is a part of education. An excursion is not just pleasure
trip. It is an extension of the classrooms. So, most schools organize excursions to famous
places every year. On 21st November our school organized an exursion to kidzania for
primary students. It provided them with this much-needed leisure. They refreshed their tired
brains and added charms to their lives. It also helped the students to develop the qualities
like self-confidence, responsibility, punctuality, self-reliance, tolerance and above all general
knowledge.

As a new step to enrich and empower students, Kendriya Vidyalaya Pragati Vihar had
introduced two days’ Experiential LearningProgramme in collaboration with Pegasus
Institute, Noida and sponsored by Rural Electrification Corporation for Integrity
Clubmembers. It was organised at KV Pragati Vihar w.e.f. 6th December to 7th December
2019.There were 33 participants from eighth to eleventh class who attended the course.
The focus of the programme was on problem solving, collaboration, team work, critical
thinking, and creative and communication skills. Through various sessions and activities an
effort to modify their learning views was made.
The programme was planned in such a manner that all the objectives were fulfilled
thereby addressing the concerns and queries of the participants. An interactive session on

Experience: Golden Arrow Testing Camp 2019

I wish to share my experience in golden arrow testing camp 2019 at kv keshavpuram.

We, the group of 6 students along with our teachers went to kv keshavpuram on 26 th of
august and stayed there till 28th of august 2019.

What made the camp so special to me is that i was able to es-cape from my everyday life for
3 days and spend this time with the greatest friends i have ever met.

We have learnt a lot of new things in the camp. I enjoyed different types of claps. The camp
fire was amazing, where i performed a little of my taekwondo skills. I learnt how to do things
on my own, have food while sitting on the floor, sleeping on ground without ac and many
more. The camp has changed me and i think it has made me more disciplined.

Baden-powell, the founder of the scouting movement, truly said: "a week of camp life is
worth six months of teaching in the classroom."

Finally, on behalf of all students, i would like to thank our principal ma’am, hm ma’am, akshay

Indian Constitution – A Living Document

Simply stated a constitution is a written book of rules and regulation which form the basic
guidelines on which the government is to be run. But a constitution has much more depth and
meaning to it. It can be said that a constitution lies in the roots of the country because of its
importance.
India’s constitution is also just as important and valuable as the other constitution of modern
world. Many debates, discussions, assemblies lead to the birth of the indian constitution.
Dr.b.rambedkar, who was the chairman of the drafting committee of our constitution is one of
the many notable persons who are linked to the drafting and formation of our constitution.
But the real question is, why is our constitution considered a living document? Some may say
that it has all the safeguards the citizens and prevents the misuse of power. Some may also
say that people from all over the country, leaders of different states met together to draft the
constitution and many people have different opinions on why our constitution can said to be a
living document.
in my opinion, indian constitution is the very essence of a democracy. Therefore, it plays the
most superior role in a democratic country like ours.
Even the most top leaders and officials bow down to the constitution. As said before,
constitution lays down all the basic foundational principles and functions and government at
various stages. It tells us what the rights of the citizens are and what not. In our country, even
the most illiterate and uneducated citizens know about the constitution and that it has
citizen’s rights written in it. The only issue is that they are not aware of what is written in it.
The constitution can be seen as a person, as an umpire for our country because it supervises
the working of institutions and the power exercised by the leaders and officials. At last, i
would also like to say that constitution cannot be considered as a sacred test which can
never be changed. With changing time, societies along with the ideals of are citizen’s change
which has to change or reform what is written in it.
Again, i want to repeat that in a country like India, which is rich of cultural and language
diversities, the Indian constitution prevent conflicts and violence in our country. No other

Fundamental Rights of Indian Constitution

The constitution of the india is supreme law in india. A constitution is a set of rules and
regulation guiding the administrator of a country the constitution of india is the framework for
political principles, procedure and power of the government. It is also the longest constitution
in the world with 395 articles, 12 schedules (originally it consisted of 395 articles arranged
under 22 parts and 8 schedules. Today after many amendments, it has 441 articles and 12
schedules. The constitution was written on 26 November 1949 and was made the central law
on 26 november 1950. India has to face many problems after independence. Rehabilitating
the refuges who migrated from Pakistan, merging the refuges who migrated the princely
states, maintenance of law and order were the major challenges sardar patel successfully
archieved the merge of princely states and provinces with the union of India. Even the
challenges of framing a constitution in order to enable govern the country was also fulfilled.
The recommendations of the motilal Nehru committee and the decision taken by the meeting
of national congress at Karachi prepared for the formation of a constitution assembly.
The constituency assembly which came into existence on 11 th of December 1946 had 145
meeting and framed a draft constitutional. During these discussions the various laws
proposed by the British government in 1909, 1919 and 1935, bill of the rights, the social
directive policies of Ireland were studied and some parts of those were written in the
constitution. Finally, the Indian constitution was approved on 26th January 1950. This day
(January 26) is celebrated as the republic day in India.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas


National Unity Day (also known as rashtriya ekta diwas) is celebrated every year on 31st of
october by the people all through india to commemorate the birth anniversary of sardar
vallabhbhai patel.

Sardar patel was born on 31st of october in 1875 at karamsand, gujarat. He was also called
as vallabhbhai jhaverbhai patel. He passed away on 15th of december in 1950 in bombay,

bombay state, india. He was a barrister, statesman, a leader of indian national congress and
one of the founding fathers of the republic of india.

Sardar vallabhbhai patel is affectionately remembered as the iron man of india who worked
hard in integrating small provinces more than 500 independent princely states in 1947 to
1949 into great india. He strengthens the unity of the country by inculcating the values
nationalism amongst the people of diverse culture. He made huge efforts to restore the
peace all across the nation.
He was also the first chairman and founder of the e.m.h.s (edward memorial high school
board, currently named as jhaverbhai dajibhai patel high school).

He is also known “patron saint of india’s civil servants” as he established the modern all-india
services system.

who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

The 21st century is the age of millennial, knowledge revolution. Our children are “digital
natives.” 21st century learning skills i.e. Critical thinking, its applications, smart
communication skills, creativity, accepting and acknowledging diversity, self-reliance and
collaboration are to be learnt by our pupils. These values need to be inherited in empirical
situations. The three are cs- creativity, communication; critical thinking are the backbone and
milestone to the future success.

Our children are not able to use the knowledge of technology in a constructive way. Online
games and addiction to social sites are taking away their lives and concentration. Blue-whale,
momo challenge, pubg, etc. Are driving them to dearth of unconsciousness and loosing
reasons. The plethora of questions stands before us for e.g. How to guide them? How to

save them from these disasters? What are the reasons? Who is responsible? …. The
interrogation list is unending.

After analyzing these questions, i could find that we are trying to teach and giving our
children the environment to imbibe almost all the 21st century learning skills but the skill which
has taken a backseat, and which actually is the most neglected one is critical thinking. The
thinking of young children as well as of grownups is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed or
prejudiced. These days most of the teachers, parents and even students are complaining
about the lack of morals in children, but what is hidden in the nexus couldn’t be find.

The famous chinese philosopher confucius once said, “learning without thought is labor lost;
thought without learning is perilous”. Today is the time of knowledge explosion, particularly
from online sources, friends, teachers, parents and media, and it is obvious that the children
need to evaluate the information they get is true, false or superficial. In the digital-first world,
technology offers readymade answers for almost every query on a click on a mouse or swipe
of a finger. This overreliance on technology on the one hand with its magic wand solves
almost every problem but on the other hand befogs understanding and intelligence, hence
depriving from thinking critically. It leads to overconfidence and poor decision making. Critical
thinking is not only thinking rationally, purposefully in a directed goal, but also thinking
independently. It enables a child to formulate his/her own opinion and draw conclusions
beyond exterior impact. Without it, youngsters may be thrown wide open to frauds and
manipulations. The parents, teachers and social reformers need to consider the following six
critical thinking skills among the young generation i.e. Identification, research, identifying
biases, inference, determining relevance and curiosity.

A critical thinker always asks himself/ herself what’s happening, why is it important? Why
don’t i see? How do i know? Who is saying it? What else? What if? Such enquiries help them
to think critically without any bias or influence. According to apa consensus delphi report a
critical thinker shows inquisitiveness with regard to a wide range of issues, concern to
become and remain well-informed, alertness to opportunities to use critical thinking, self-
confidence in one’s own abilities to reason, open-mindedness regarding divergent world
views, flexibility in considering alternatives and opinions, understanding of the opinions of
other people, fair-mindedness in appraising reasoning, honesty in facing one’s own biases,
prejudices, stereotypes, or egocentric tendencies, prudence in suspending, making or
altering judgments and willingness to reconsider and revise views where honest reflection
suggests that change is warranted. In short, critical thinkers are aware, inherently curious,
and full of compassion, good decision makers, morally integrated, creative, show willingness
and flexibility.

Now, the question arises how we can help our children to develop critical thinking. The
parents at home should encourage critical thinking in new and different ways. They should
provide opportunities to children play and act while they themselves should pause and wait
and shouldn’t intervene immediately. They should ask open ended questions and help them
to develop their own hypothesis. The school teachers don’t require a critical thinking special
program to transform the children into critical thinkers. They can make it a part of regular
classroom teaching, wherever required to brainstorm children to think critically and

independently and express their thinking through writing or discussion without any pressure
or fear.

Thinking critically is vital for career, self-discipline, becoming good citizen and successful
human being. President dr. A. P. J. Abdul kalam has once said that “a developed india by
2020 or even earlier is not a dream. It need not be a mere vision in the minds of many
indians. It is a mission we all should take up and succeed.” Hence, it is to be noticed that we
need to change our approach and take up the challenge of the above quote.

Digital Literacy for Children and Adults

In the world of ‘knowledge revolution’, our children ‘digitally naïve’ who are not homey in
using technology and operating it, can’t keep up with the advancement and manipulation of
information. Moreover, many a time they lack skills and thumb to critically use technology.
Hence, it is the duty of school, parents and society to literate the children digitally instead of
intruding into their privacy and creating an environment of mistrust. Moreover, it is not
possible all the time to keep a watchdog on them. Generally, our children are theoretically
aware of most of the online dangers. However, practical application of the learning in the due
course of life is still missing. Eventually, they fail as they couldn’t overcome the temptation of
posting and sharing, being immature in critical and digital literacy skill.
There are various ways of training our children into critical and digital literacy. Firstly, they
must be trained into distinguishing ‘facts’ and opinions’, they must know a given message
can be proven true/false or its merely an opinion of someone to mislead others. This skill can
be learnt through a little practice in class or at home. Secondly, they must be informed about
‘fact checking’ methods and tools i.e. Checking date, source and supporting sources of
information, etc. There are various reliable online sources which help to apply this check.
Thirdly, they must apply p.i.e. (to persuade, to inform, to entertain) check which bolsters to
find out the purpose of a message or post. If the purpose of a message/post is to inform then
‘fact checking’ methods must be applied to find out if it is a fact or opinion.
Therefore, training our children and adults in digital and critical literacy is imperative for our
nation’s well-being and to make them ‘literate of the 21st century’; as they would be able to
identify prejudices and biases to an extent, and at the top of all, they would not be misled,
misinformed or manipulated.

One can clearly witness, that nowadays election is being conducted very frequently, be it
assembly polls or usual lok sabha election after every five years, there are some sort of polls
each year in one or the other state. The election commission also immerses whole of its
resources and manpower to organize free and fair polls. The entire state machinery also
indulges itself into this humongous exercise and initiatives that with all modesty people elect

their representatives. But while closely monitoring the misery of the under privileged &
marginalized communities who get worst affected by these frequent polls and the money that
is wasted in the election campaign blatantly. The P.M Narendra Modi has once again pitched
up the policy of ‘one nation one election’. This system of simultaneously conducting elections
prevails in many countries like sweden, indonesia, south africa, belgium etc. Where it is still
practiced very efficiently. The concept of “one nation one election” is not unprecedented for
us as it was coherently organized in our country years back, this practice was discontinued in
1968-69 because some legislative assemblies were dissolved earlier due to various causes.
Ever since, our country has been trying very hard to bring this system back in motion, but
there is no consensus among the political parties. As we know the present system of polls in
fritz and starts is not very favorable. This is because the mobility in decision making is very
often restricted or hindered for any particular area in the country and also the important local
issues and problems are disregarded and suppressed, which in turn thwarts the speedy
development of the country. If the old system of polls is restored, then there would be
immense benefits which will help our country to soar up to greater heights. First and the
foremost is money saving. There are over 4000 mha’s across the whole nation. So, their total
expenditure is nearly 11 billion if elections are held separately but it reduces by many folds if
the practice of elections around the country is brought under the same umbrella. It is also

Some say we should care for our own children, but in real, we should care the elderly citizen

their things etc. They are now old and need special treatment in society, citizens who are
above 60 years old are considered senior citizens in our country. We could help all elders by
helping them in reading newspaper, magazines. Mostly, they have diseases like heart
diseases, lung diseases, cancer, etc. There are people in the country, who do not even look
at elderly people. They even tease them and ignore them. Even children don’t take care of
their grandfathers or grandmothers all senior citizens are like our grandparents. We should
treat them like our own people and should give special care to them. In india, kerala has the
highest number of elderly people. There, every old is treated and cared as a citizen. They
were born in a period of terror. The english rule so, they could tell us the stories of that time
and could also tell stories. Some elder people cannot see and often none with a stick. We
should gift presents to them and talk to them frequently. We should not treat them badly as
our parents will also be an elder person sometime, i think my grandparents are the most
exciting and fabulous elders in the world. Our grandparents ask our marks after exams and
also give tips on how to study. I love my grandparents; we should help the elderly people in
our country. We should help them when they are in trouble, like, for example when an older

Role of Youths to Save People in The City from Their Miserable Condition

Nowadays very few old people stay in the city. Those that do live here are either very lonely
or in miserable condition. Some of them don’t even want to stay in the city and want to return
to the village or hometown they came from. My grandmother also lives with us, and that’s
why i can say this with certainty. She says she feels very lonely here because there is no one
to talk to my father and mother are busy with their own work and i’m always either studying or
using the phone and browsing the internet, after all, what can i talk about with my
grandmother? She led a totally different school life than mine and it’s not just her who feels
lonely. Every old person i have talked to say that their children are busy with their own lives
and don’t have time for them. Now, there are also news reports getting published that say
how old people have been found dead in their apartments. They had no one to look after
them and no one to talk to. Neighbours only came to know about their death, when a stench
started coming from their rotting bodies. But this is not right. We should take out the time to
look after them. If your parents are too busy, then we, as grandchildren, should talk to our
grandparents and spend times with them. When people get old, their friends get scattered or
die. So they feel lonely and upset. Their children give them money but what they actually
crave is company and friendship. It is the duty of every youngster to look after his/her
grandparents and spend time with them.

Return of Neel
Neel was sitting outside his house. His sister mini was at school. His father was out on work and her
mother had gone on an errand. Neel was differently abled boy, having difficulty in speaking and
thinking. Not seeing his mother for a long time, he left to look for his mother. But somehow he lost his
way back home. He roamed here and there. Few local persons from his village saw him but thinking
that his parents must be there with him, went on their ways. By this time, neel had reached the railway
station named, urban. Perplexed, he tried to make few people understand but they couldn’t
understand. Neel now didn’t know what to do, however seeing a train he immediately boarded the
train. He got down at the next station and started wandering.

By then his mother had reached home. To her utter surprise, she did not find neel anywhere, his
sister too came back home. Mini, who is only two years older than neel too tried to find her brother by
asking her friends and neighbours. Mini’s only companion was lost. Mini started crying profusely. Her
mind was filled with sorrow and anger because god has taken away her brother from her. Neel’s
father too arrived, who was heart-broken.

On the other side, neel was strolling in the unknown area. A traffic police officer noticed him and took
him to custody. He undertook preliminary exercises to locate neel to his family but finally gave up as
no response was received from neel’s family. Then the officer made some temporary arrangement at
the orphanage home for his stay. Neel tried to indicate the officer about his whereabouts but all went
in vain. He felt very desperate.

After filing a missing complaint his father returned home depressed and in a state of despondency.
After returning home, looked at her brother’s photos and shed tears. It had been more than one
month! Her heart seems to be out.

Neel after one month in the orphanage home, fell very sick when he was attacked by flu. The home
manager sent him to a hospital. The doctors cured him. After two-three weeks, the hospital staff
became very close to him as they found neel very adorable. One day one of the nurses said to
another, we can publish an advertisement in newspaper. They both arranged for an advertisement in
the lost and found category.

Mini made a habit of searching his brother whereabouts on regular basis. Her eyes caught sight of the
photograph of neel. She started sprinting and yelling to her father who was taking bath in a pond
nearby. “baba, my brother is found” she yelled in joy.

They went to hospital. Far from there, neel could see his family. He sprang out from his bed towards
his parents. Once he reached home, and was given meal, he started devouring it. Mini told her
mother to give some more rice. Mini’s happiness knew no bound. There was he, sitting beside her,
her dear brother.

Fuel is a natural resource that produces useful energy. When it undergoes a chemical or
nuclear reaction. Coal, wood, oil, petrol or gas provides energy when burnt so we consider
them fuel. But as we all know fuel is not manmade and it occurs only naturally so its judicious
use is much more needed not for today but for future generation. We do not need to run our
life in a better environment too. Fuel shortage keeps occurring the world from time to time.
Most countries have to import fuel to meet their needs. Fossils fuels like coal and oil and gas
are non-renewable resources. In other words, increasing usage depletes their presence
within the earth. So there will come a time when they will no longer be available. The answer
is to develop alternative and renewable resources or to use our natural resources judiciously.
In spite of the development of non-conventional energy resources the general purpose is still
apprehensive about their use along with natural oil and inconvenience in using them. We
should save fuel for better environment and health. Now how saving fuel can lead us to a
better life. Now saving fuel can lead to a better environment and health well here is the
answer. Industrialization, machinery and faster means of transport have become a way of life
and symbols of property. They use a whole lot of oil and gas every day however we are so
keenly bent on development that we have closed our eyes to the larger picture that
development has no meaning without support from natural resources and thus they have to
depend on each other. Our environment is being affected due to combustion of fuels by the
automotive. The automobiles run on petrol or diesel, the automobiles burn fuels to run the
automobiles into the environment, this released smoke ore burnt fuels are depleting the
ozone layer. Due to the depletion of ozone layer, greenhouse effect is taking place and the
earth is getting heated up and burning from inside. These all are affecting our healthy body.
At the same time though it is also bad for the environment and the more petrol we use the
more emissions we create. To have a great impact on our health and the environment isn’t
an easy task. But if we are motivated and really want to adjust our lifestyle in order to develop
positive habits, and to do our part to change the negative travels against the environment and
save fuel deposit, this is a must saving fuel for the future is therefore an urgent necessity.
How to save fuel for better environment and health today we all are in a race to waste our
natural resources just because of our negligence and ignorance. Not only diesel but all other

Samosa, the maharaja of indian snack, the very sight of which makes one drool, the golden
triangle stuffed with exotic ginger-spiked potatoes, pomegranate seeds, raisin and chopped
chillies that originated in the 9th century is believed to have travelled to india from central
asia-------known as sanbusak or sanbusaj in egypt, syria, and lebanon.
The samosa was praised by ishaq ibn lbrahim-al-mausli in a poem written by him in the 19th
century. It became a hot favourite cuisine, a food for the king whose praises have been sung
by none another than amir khusro. Ibn batuta wrote about sanbusak as “minced meat cooked
with almond, pistachios, onions and spices placed inside a thin envelop of wheat and deep
fried in ghee”.

सामान्द्यत: सशक्षा को पढ़ने -पढ़ने की प्रफक्रया तक ही सीसमत कर हदया जाता है | अक्सर


हम िातचीत करते समय सशक्षा को मार रोजगार पाने के साधन के रूप में व्यक्त करत है ,
व द्यार्ी भी अगधकतर सशक्षा का एकमार उद्दे श्य एक अच्छा रोजगार प्राप्त करना समझते

न ही कहठन है | अगर हम इस भाषा को ध्यान से समझे और इसकी गहराइयों को पडे तो यह हमारे
सलए िहुत सरल िन जाती है | पुराने ज़माने मे यह िहुत आम भाषा र्ी , पुराने ज़माने में लोग
िातचीत में सलखने में के ल सिंस्त्कृत भाषा का प्रयोग करते र्े, मेरे ख्याल से उस समय हहिंदी भाषा का

पर सलखने ाली भाषा भी सिंस्त्कृत र्ी | परन्द्तु जि से
फिरिं गगयों का शासन समाप्त हुआ या उस से
पहले सिंस्त्कृत भाषा का प्रयोग र्ोडा घटता हुआ नजर आया और ति से आज तक यह भाषा एक

हम सभी यह जानते यह है फक सिंसार में सभी भाषाओिं की जननी सिंस्त्कृत भाषा को माना जाता है ।
यह हमारे परु ािों की दे न है , पाणिनी ने इसका उत्तम प्रयोग फकया, यह एक ऐसी भाषा है श्जसे
ैज्ञातनक भी कहा गया है । सिंस्त्कृत भाषा में 1700 धातुएूँ 700 प्रत्यय है । सिंस्त्कृत भाषा में
लसलता , मौसलता नैततकता पाई जाती है | आज तथमान की श्स्त्र्तत िहुत ही खराि चल रही है |
हम सभी अपनी सिंस्त्कृतत को भूलते जा रहे है और पाश्चात्य सिंस्त्कृतत की तरि जा रहे है | हम सिकी
एक व चारधारा है फक सिंस्त्कृत भाषा िहुत कहठन है परन्द्तु यह बिल्कुल जूठ है , यह कहना सही नही
होगा फक बिना रटे इसका कोई उपयोग नही है या इसे पढ़ा नही जा सकता| एक और व चारधारा लोगो
के मन में यह िनी हुई है फक सिंस्त्कृत भाषा एक लुप्त भाषा है और लुप्त भाषा को गले लगाना िेकार

आश्चयथ की िात तो यह है फक नासा में भी सिंदेश सिंस्त्कृत में भेजा जाता है इस भाषा की मौसलकता
फकतनी ज्यादा है इसका अनुमान हम इस कर्थय से लगा सकते हैं,अमेररका के कािंग्रेस पुस्त्तकालय में
कम से कम 6700 ग्रिंर् है और ह सभी सिंस्त्कृत में है , तो क्या यह है कहना सही नहीिं फक पाश्चात्य

पर बितायी, पहले के दो हदन तो आसपास के मशहूर इलाके झील आहद को दे खने में िीत गए | एक
चीज श्जसे मैंने अनदे खी पाई र्ी ो र्ा हािं का व गचर मौसम |सुिह - सुिह र्ोडी गमी रहती
र्ी,दोपहर होते होते ही धूप तेज हो जाती र्ी;शाम को फिर मौसम र्ोडा ठिं िा हो जाता र्ा और रात
को मौसम ठिं िा रहता र्ा|चाहे फकतनी भी धुप हो हाूँ पर िाररश का होना तो अतन ायथ र्ा, इतना मैं
जान चुकी र्ा | दो हदन िीत गए | हमने आसपास के लगभग सारे मशहूर इलाके दे ख सलए र्े | िस
एक ही जगह जाना िाकी र्ा - मसूरी | पािंच े हदन सुिह सुिह गाडी दर ाजे पर खडी र्ी |छः भी नहीिं
िजे परन्द्तु मैं जानती र्ी फक जो चीजे मैं दे खने
ाली हूूँ , उसके सलए मैं अपनी नीिंद तो जरूर त्याग
सकती हूूँ | मुझे उस हदन का सिसे ज्यादा इिंतजार र्ा क्योंफक में कभी फकसी पहाडी इलाके में नहीिं
गई र्ी | उस हदन मौसम भी ठिं िा र्ा | दे हरादन
ू शहर से िाहर तनकलने में ही चालीस समनट लग गए
| कुछ घिंटो के उपरािंत हम पहाडो को पार कर रहे र्े |ऊूँचाई िढ़ने के कारि सािंस लेने में कहठनाई
हो रही र्ी परन्द्तु जो रश्य मुझे दे खने को समला , उसे मैं नहीिं भूलूिंगी | दरू दरू तक हरी भरी घाहटयाूँ
और उनके ऊपर सूरज की रौशनी चमक रही र्ी | िीच में एक जगह पर आराम करने रुके, ति मैंने
कई तस्त् ीरें भी ली| दस िजे तक हम मसूरी पहुिंच गए और हाूँ से जो दृश्य मुझे दे खने को समला ,
इसका ास्त्त में िथन नहीिं फकया जा सकता| िहुत हडिडी हो रही र्ी और शोर मच रहा र्ा , हाूँ के
स्त्र्ानीय लोग क्षेरीय सामान िेच रहे र्े और पयथटन करने ाले लोग उन्द्हें हहला दल
ु ा कर दे ख रहे
र्े,कुछ कुछ सामान भी खरीद रहे र्े|मकानों की िना ट को दे ख मझ
ु े हसीिं आ गई ऐसे लग रहा र्ा
मानों एक ही झटके में सारे नीचे गगर जाएिंगे | हाूँ पर कई घर भी र्े लोग कपडे सख
ू ा रहे र्े, सब्जी
खरीद रहे र्े , िच्चे खेल रहे र्े , दक
ु ानदार सामान िेच रहे र्े |

सि कुछ िहुत साधारि सा लग रहा र्ा | हमने भी हािं कई चीज़ें खरीदी, हम चार िजे तक ही रहे
और फिर जाने का समय आ गया र्ा | नीचे पहुिंचते पहुिंचते 8 िज गए और मैं इतनी र्क गई र्ी
फक कमरे में जाते ही बिस्त्तर पर लेट कर सो गयीिं| अगले हदन हमने िस छोटे मोटे सामान खरीदे
और िचे हुए कुछ स्त्र्ान घूम कर आए | सात े हदन को शाम को हदल्ली के सलए रे न र्ी | मुझे िहुत
िुरा लग रहा र्ा क्योंफक मझ
