PICTORIAL NARRATIVE REPORT ON SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL

S.Y.2017-2018

In the past twenty years the Philippines experience tremendous disasters


resulting to great casualties of life, properties, destruction of environment that cost billions of
pesos that affects our economy. To prevent this devastating calamities the government create a
law, Republic Act No. 10121 “Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM)
Act of 2010. It mandates all national government agencies to institutionalized policies,
structures, coordination mechanism and programs, In response to this, the Department of
Education orders all schools to have a Disaster Preparedness Measures for Schools for effective
planning and implementation of DRRM programs.

One of the program of DRRM is the “Simultaneous Earthquake Drill in


preparation for the coming of the “BIG ONE” a strong earthquake that will occur anytime, and
will start in Marikina Faultline. Last November 8 at exactly 9:00 am, Bayan-Bayanan
Elementary School responded and participated in this nationwide campaign program of DRRM.
It starts with the orientation of the teachers and the sangguniang barangay officials to all pupils
from Pre-elem to Grade six headed by Mr.Cris V.Regala. They practice the “DUCK, COVER,
and HOLD” technique during the warning signal. Then Kagawad Miguel Duldulao Jr. Chairman
Committee on Barangay Disaster give instructions and directions to follow designated routes
during alarm phase and evacuation phase going to the evacuation area safe and sound. Kagawad
Duldulao also emphasize to the participants to conduct head count during the head count phase.

Lastly, the participants instructed to stay in the evacuation area and wait for
the signal before going back to the building safe.
