Floatation and Sinking-

Comparing densities of different materials in different


solutions.

Things needed for this activity are as follows:-


1.Glass Glass-3 6.Eraser Pieces-3
2.Water 7.Wood Pieces-3
3.Cooking Oil 8.Plastic Pieces-3
4.Honey 9.Thermacol Pieces-3
5.Safety Pins-3 10.Mobile Phone

First we take three glasses and place it on a table as


shown below and pour water in one glass, oil in other
glass and honey in other glass as shown below.
Now we put each item one by one in the glasses
In order and take pictures for the observations and
note whether the items float, sink or submerge in the
respective solutions.
Item Number 1 – Safety Pins

Item Number 2 – Thermacol Pieces


Item Number 3 – Eraser Pieces
Item Number 4 – Plastic Pieces
Item Number 5 – Wood Pieces

From the above activity, we learn that less denser


substances float and more denser substances sink.
