1. PURPOSE & SCOPE OF WORK
The raised floor system is a building feature where a secondary floor is installed above the
structural (concrete) floor, creating an accessible void (plenum) beneath. This space is used to
manage and conceal MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) services such as:
• Electrical wiring
• HVAC (air distribution)
• Data cabling
• Fire suppression systems
✓ Scope: This method statement covers detailed methodology to be adopted in raised
floor Installation as per the applications in sequence complying with the project
requirements.
✓ Purpose: The purpose of this method statement is to set the guidelines to be followed
for raised floor Installation and the responsibilities of the personnel involved and to
ensure that all works are executed in accordance with the contract requirements and
that all QA/QC activities are conducted in a systematic manner & works are inspected
and documented.

6. HEALTH AND SAFETY
a. Safety control measures shall be adapted to ensure smooth and safe operation.
b. All personnel shall be equipped with the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
as mentioned below:
✓ Helmet
✓ Dust Mask / Respirators
✓ Steel-Toe Shoes
✓ Safety Gloves
✓ Safety Glasses / Goggles
✓ Reflective Vests
c. All safety equipment and warning devices shall be provided and used by the working
personnel.
d. Toolbox meetings shall be conducted prior to commencing of any works.
e. Access to the working area shall be limited by setting up temporary fences and
barricades.
f. Necessary signs shall be placed to show the direction of safe access for the personnel,
vehicles and equipment.
g. Access to the working area shall be limited to the working personnel.
7. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Emergency response shall be done as per Attachment 1 – Job Specific Risk Assessment.
Emergency numbers shall be permanently displayed in work areas.
8. METHOD AND SEQUENCE OF WORKS
8.1 Pre-Requisite Works (Site Preparation)
Before start of works the following works need to be completed and assessed from all concerned
parties.
✓ Co-ordinated Shop drawing shall be obtained from Electrical, Mechanical and plumbing disciplines
prior to proceed with Raised flooring.
✓ Concrete surface shall be checked for any undulation and shall be informed to civil contactor for
getting required level surface.
✓ Level shall be established on walls at 1 meter height from finish floor level and finish floor level
shall be marked at desired height.( Bench marks level)
✓ All floor surfaces shall be clean, free from loose and powdery material and slab level shall be
checked whether the surface elevation is enough to accommodate the required height of the
Raised floor system.
✓ If the structural slab is found to be higher that will affect the height of the pedestal, main contractor
shall make necessary correction such as cutting the portion if the slab.

8.2 Installation and Fixing Procedure
✓ The benchmark level will be transferred and marked at the corners by using laser level / auto level
as the case may be.
✓ The floor height will be marked on all the walls of each area by snapping the chalk lines.
✓ Carry out the floor grid- marking activities (locate each pedestal)
✓ Install access flooring system and accessories under supervision of access flooring installer’s
authorized representative to produce a rigid, firm installation that complies with performance
requirements and is free of vibration, rocking, rattles and squeaks.
✓ Flat steel pedestal head will accommodate stringers. Zinc plated steel stud and anti-vibration nut
assembled and detent feature. The steel stud will be sized to accommodate existing pedestal base.
✓ The pedestal base must accommodate the pedestal base steel stud referred to above. FFH =
150mm to 200mm. Bottom base plate size 75x75mm and the top base plate size 95x95mm.
✓ A freely Pedestal Head Gasket of suitable rubber construction with permanent attachment to the
Corner lock pedestal head will be provided. This will provide an isolation barrier between panel
and pedestal head. The Gasket materials will have an electrical resistance of <104Ω
✓ Attach pedestals to subfloor by adhesive. Adjust heights by turning the adjustable nut of the
pedestal tube.
✓ Check alignment and level of the pedestals and the secure stringers to pedestal heads.
Subsequently floor panels can be installed by minor level adjustments.
✓ Ensure that pedestals, stringers & all the panels supporting are in proper location and level.
✓ Scribe under floor cavity dividers to closely fit against subfloor surfaces and seal with mastic to
maintain plenum effect within under floor cavity.
✓ Scribe vertical closures to closely fit against subfloor and adjacent finish floor surfaces. Set in
mastic and seal to maintain plenum effect within under floor cavity.
✓ Clean dust, dirt and construction debris caused by floor installation, including vacuuming subfloor
area, as installation of floor panel’s proceeds.
✓ Lay out floor panel installation to keep the number of cut panels at floor perimeter to a minimum.
✓ Securely fix the panels to pedestals with corners matched & panel joints hairline tight.
✓ After completion of full panel’s installation, the cut panels will be installed. The tiles to be cut will
be marked as per site measurements. Then cutting will be done with the stand mounted cutting
machine.
✓ Additional pedestals will be provided as necessary to support cut panels.
✓ Apply a perimeter seal (double sided adhesive foam tape) to the cut edge of panels.
✓ At end of each workday, remove rubbish, empty cans, rags, and other debris will discarded from
the spot.
✓ Scribe perimeter panels to provide a close fit with adjoining construction with no voids greater than
3mm where panels abut vertical surfaces.
✓ Altair Steelco Cementitious Panel HPL AL800 will be provided, Panel Size 600x600mm &
Thickness = 33mm.
✓ Level installed access flooring to within +/-3mm mm of true level over entire access flooring area
and within +/-3 mm in any 3-m distance.
✓ Traffic on the newly installed raised floor will be prohibited for 24 hrs and no removal of panels are
allowed for 72 hrs after installation to allow pedestal adhesive to set.
8.3 Cleaning and Protection
a. Once the work is completed & inspects the balance materials and tools and equipment will be
removed from the site and shall be kept clean and will be made ready for inspection by the owner.
b. A protective covering is suggested if owner/ contractor want to do other works, using raised floor
as a support.
