Subject: Suggestions for the Literature Category of the House Cup

In hopes of adding a literary flair to our school’s esteemed annual house cup, for this year,
the Languages and Literary Society proposes a few ideas for the literature category of the
event, aiming to provide a competitive yet enjoyable way for the school’s bibliophiles and,
hopefully, fostering an interest for books and writing in the less literary inclined as well.

We have to recognize that there will be a difference amongst the student body, regarding
their degree of literary knowledge, which may be slightly daunting to some. In order to make
the event approachable for everyone and to remove any such apprehensions, most of these
ideas will be focused on creative expression and some require minimal knowledge of
literature

· In order to add, what will hopefully be, a humorous touch but still focus on literary
knowledge, implementing a ‘roast battle’ would certainly be a popular choice. After
dividing the students into pairs, each student chooses their character and will be given
time to research their opposing character and write the roast. Then each character will
be given 2 rounds, each a minute long to adequately flame the other person. The
participants impersonate the authors or characters they have chosen and roast each
other’s writing style. Plus, bonus points for clever puns or exaggerated mimicking of
famous prose. Music can also be played in the background if needed. Of course, the
characters/roasts will be screened prior to the actual roast to ensure propriety. This adds
a really fun performance aspect and will definitely appeal to some creatives who wish to
exhibit their clever wit.

· Contrary to the last suggestion, students could also be prompted to participate in a game
of literary charades, a fun twist on the childhood classic game, where the subject is
literary in nature e.g. a famous author, a book title or a character. It’ll be a fun way to test
how big of a bookworm one is.

· Another suggestion that tests literary knowledge would be to guess a book from a
humorous one star review, sourced from Goodreads or any other platform. Not only will it
be a competition, but it also provokes one to think about and examine such esteemed
works in different ways, encouraging critical literary analysis as well.

· The final suggestion is a traditional one, but it’s tradition for a reason: a freeverse poetry
writing competition. Requiring no literary knowledge whatsoever, only a passion to write
and convey, it will be a great platform for some of the school’s talented poets to come
and shine, but also encourage other students to explore this ancient form of
self-expression. Each pair or group of students will be assigned a specific prompt, in the
form of an image, a word etc., and given time to craft their poems. Afterwards, they’ll be
asked to perform it, in a poetry slam fashion, and will be judged accordingly.
Enhanced House Cup Framework with Legacy Integration
By: Aun Muhammad Haroon

Objectives:
To elevate the standard and spirit of intra-school sports through a year-long, well-structured House
Cup. The program is designed to:

· Promote competitive spirit, leadership, and school pride.

· Enhance house loyalty through the visibility of achievements.

· Identify and groom top athletes for further tournaments.

· Establish a lasting legacy through the permanent display of house achievements.

Key Enhancements and Additions:

1. House Legacy Cupboards:

Each house will be assigned a dedicated display cupboard, installed in a prominent location on
campus. These cupboards will:

· Display trophies and memorable photos from tournaments.

· Include a section for MVPs, top scorers, and house captains of each year.

· Be updated regularly to reflect achievements and foster legacy.

· Serve as a daily visual motivator for students.

Goal: Celebrate house history, motivate current students, and instill pride across generations.

2. Management:

A. Seasonal Groupings:
· Divide sports across three terms (e.g., Fall, Winter, Spring) to avoid
scheduling conflicts and student burnout.

B. Leadership, Oversight & Accountability:

• Appoint Sport-Specific Captains from each house to coordinate
training and communication.

• Assign staff mentors for each sport to assist with discipline,

attendance, and event execution.
• Implement a digital leaderboard to track weekly standings, match
results, and player stats.

3. Recognition System Expansion:

Besides medals and trophies, introduce:

● “Player of the Month” badges for consistent performers.

● Points for audience engagement, house cheering, and sportsmanship.

4. Media & Promotion Enhancements:

Empower media society to:

● Create monthly newsletters on sports updates.

● Feature “Athlete Spotlight” interviews.
● Produce cinematic reels for key matches and victories.
● House Cupboard updates can also be posted monthly on the school’s social platforms.

Conclusion:
By refining the existing framework and introducing house cupboards, we create a culture of
achievement, motivation, and lasting legacy. This program will not only prepare students for further
events but also define their school memories for years to come.
