Founded in 1987, Health Level Seven, Inc. (http://www.HL7.org/) is a not-for-profit, ANSI-accredited standards developing organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive framework and related standards for the exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic health information that supports clinical practice and the management, delivery and evaluation of health services.
Learning by Doing
The HL7 e-Learning Course is fundamentally different with regard to an exposition course. It is a web-based workshop, a set of guided exercises that teachs by practice and example, not by exposition. At the end of the course, participants should: n K n o w h o w t o c o n f ro n t a p ro j e c t i n v o l v i n g interoperability among disjointed healthcare information systems. n Know how to read the most widely used HL7 standards. n Understand the need for controlled vocabularies, master files, and entity registries. n Read and Write V2.X messages. n Read and Write V3 messages. n Read and Write CDA R2 documents. n Know when to use each artifact (messages, documents).
