End of the Dua

The Poem now starts:

Below are the 1st two lines taken from Qasida Ya Gharaallah
(O Divine Aid of Allah) of Ghawth al-Azam.

In abta'at gharal-arhami wabta'adat Fa asri'u shayin gharallah

Ya gharallahi huth thes-sayra musri'atan Fi halli ‘uqda-tina Ya gharallahi

If the help from human compassion delays or becomes distance from us,
then the fastest journey of help, is the help of Allah.

O divine Aid of Allah, quickly make his journey faster,

in resolving our difficulties, O divine Aid of Allah.
(repeat 3 times)

(note the translation is in a poetic English style to caption of the essence)

1 - All praise belongs to Allah, eternal and endless,

And gratitude flows as a river, rich and boundless.

Then, blessings and peace upon the Protector of all creation,

Along with his family, companions, and followers in the religion.

2 - O the Pole of the heavens and the earth, their saviour,

O the spring of their existence, the rain of their hearts, ever-flowing,

O son of the two exalted ones, you’ve inherited their legacy,

O the best of those who are called, 'Reviver of the Faith,'
divine and enduring.

3 - O Greatest Helper, through all time and eternity,

Highest of the saints, in divine decree and sovereignty.

The most deserving of the poor and the needy,

You are the one by whose name the Faith is revived, eternally freed.
4 - And the word of Allah has reached you, listening,
O Greatest Helper, in His nearness, ever gathering.

You are the vicegerent of the cosmos, shining bright,

Named with a great name, the Reviver of the Faith, in divine light.

5 - You are named ‘Abdal-Qadir, the Unique, the One,

You fasted twelve autumns, a constant fast never undone.

And never did you sleep, not even for a moment's rest,
Truly, you are the one titled ‘Reviver of the Faith,’ the Blessed.

6 - When you became the servant of the Chosen One, obedient and true,
He granted you power, all that you wished to pursue.

You are mighty in His creation, in command and in grace,

You are His trusted agent, O Reviver of the Faith, in divine embrace.

7 - You honored the lands of Jilan with your birth,

You sanctified Baghdad’s earth, where your sacred tomb holds worth.

Every longing soul visits, seeking the divine embrace,

In his home, they encounter the Reviver of the Faith, in grace.

8 - I saw the religion of guidance, a soul in pain,

With a gentle touch, I healed him, removing the strain.

The sickness that had overtaken him disappeared,

And he rose, calling to you with love, O Reviver of the Faith, revered.

9 - You are both of the lineage of Hussein and Hassan,

A noble father and mother, in sacred union.

You shone like the sun and the moon, radiant and bright,
Truly, you are the one worthy to be called, Reviver of the Faith, in divine light.
10 - Once a Shafi'i, you became a Hanbali with grace,
Never abandoning, but balancing both paths with a steady embrace.

You soared ever higher, reaching the loftiest station,

Holding the highest renown as the Reviver of the Faith, in divine exaltation

11 - You have risen in truth, sincerity, and ascetic grace,

In striving, in keeping promises, and renouncing worldly embrace.

All those of piety, asceticism, and tireless devotion,

Call upon you, O Greatest Helper, Reviver of the Faith, in sacred emotion.

12 - How many miracles of truth from you have arisen,

Radiating in the hearts of creation, brightly given.

Like the miracles of a Prophet, renowned and spread,

O one who calls upon His Lord, Reviver of the Faith, ahead.

13 - You filled volumes with written works profound,

Containing wonders, stories that astound.

They shone till the Day of Gathering, leaving traces so bright,

You exalted the faith of guidance, O Reviver of the Light

14 - By the command of your Lord, you took your place,

Your foot upon the necks of saints, with grace.

All of them rejoiced, their hearts alight,

O one whose name ascends in heavenly might, Reviver of the Faith,
shining so bright.
15 - In the treasury of secrets, you held the chain,
Of all whose names were bound in sacred reign.

Except for Abu Bakr, whose repentance was pure,

You attained the highest honours, secure,
O Reviver of the Faith, your light so sure.

16 - All sects in unity, a consensus so true,

On your perfection, in heights they view.

Even the Khawarij, with their misguided view,

You remain the center, Reviver of the faith, ever new.

17 - No scholar's tongue could fault your way,

For all have praised the virtues you display.

None could capture your essence, not even halfway,

You saved all seekers, O Reviver of the faith, we say

18 - "You said, ‘Whoever has no guide, I am their guide,

A shepherd to their soul, their path with me will collide.

In solitude, I am their companion, from me they receive,

A connection to the Divine, in me they believe.’"

19 - And whoever calls my name a thousand times with sincerity,

With determination and effort, overcoming obstacles for forgiveness,
(3 times)

I quickly will respond to him for the sake of his call,

Then let him call, 'O servant of Al-Qadir, the Reviver of the Faith.'
20 - After prayer, twelve rak'ahs in devotion's grace,
With the Fatiha and Ikhlas, in humble embrace.

'O Greatest Helper, swift as the heart's own beat,

My Lord, be near me, You who make faith complete.'

21 - And I said, 'My hand is ever steadfast,

For those who seek my path, it shall always last.

It has granted souls the way to guidance true,

I am the caller by His right, who revives the faith anew.'

22 - And indeed, my grandfather, the Messenger of Allah, used to say,

'You are my successor, in the best of all words, you shall stay.'

Be the support for my ummah, guiding hearts in all their plight,

For you are the upholder of my law, reviving the faith with light.'

23 - O my Master, my refuge, my aid divine,

Be my strength, to defeat foes in time.
Defender of my honour, take my hand, (3 times)

Guide me through, with Your light to stand.

You are the Successor of Allah's will,
Reviving the faith with your presence still.

24 - Count me among those who follow Your path so true,

A servant, devoted, ever loyal to You.
From Your army, let me be a steadfast knight,

A commander of faith, shining in the light.

The best of leaders, guiding through the din,
Reviving the faith, with Your grace within.
25 - Enlighten my heart to the path You have walked,
For Allah granted it to You, and You are its guide.
Rescue it from the flames, from perils untold,
You, the Sultan of every saint, reviving the faith bold.

26 - May Allah's blessings extend upon the Great Helper,

Who stood firm, guiding Muhammad to the highest of ranks.

And upon his family, who upheld the faith of righteousness,

Ask him to intercede for me, O Reviver of the Faith

27 - And those who followed, the founders of the faith,

Sacrificing their bodies in devotion to God’s way.

Rejoicing in God's grace within the way of the faith,

From among them, O Reviver of the Faith, grant me your aid.

Praise be to Allah, endless and eternal,

And praise be to Allah, ever-lasting and supreme.

Praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds,

For what has been, and what shall always be.

My Master, send blessings and peace, forever and ever,

Upon Your Beloved, the best of all creation, above all.

End of Qasidah

his family, and his companions.

O Allah, we seek refuge in You from calamities, plagues,

and great trials in self, wealth, family, and children.

Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater,

greater than what we fear and dread.

Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater,

in number of our sins until You forgive.

Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater.

And Allah's peace and blessings be upon our master Muhammad,
his family, and his companions.

O Allah, as You have interceded for us through Your Prophet, give us respite
and fill our homes with Your mercy. Do not destroy us due to our sins, O Most
Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah, calm our hearts with Your generosity, kindness, and grace.
Spare us from the shock of Your majesty and the overwhelming power of
Your dominion.

By the gentle light descending from the overflowing

oceans of Your sovereignty.

Until we are wrapped in the cloak of Your mercy and seek refuge from the
descent of Your wrath, O Possessor of complete power, encompassing ability,
and boundless mercy.
By Your mercy and through the protection You have provided to Your
righteous servants.

O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

We ask You to turn away from us pestilence and calamity, O Allah,

O Allah, O Allah, by the light of the Eternal Essence of Allah.
By the light of His Noble Face.

By the light of His Glorious Throne.

By the light of the Prophets and Messengers upon them be peace and
blessings, from the evil of our enemy and the evil of the enemy of Allah,
and from the evil of plague and pestilence.

With the protection of a thousand thousands, there is no power or strength

except through Allah, the All-High, the Almighty.

We seal our souls, our religion, our families, our wealth,

and our children with the seal of the great Names.

And with the seal of "There is no god but Allah,

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," truly.

O Allah, You are the Protector of the protectors,

the Revealer of hardship and calamity, the Hearer of prayers.

Until we are enveloped by the gentle grasp of Your mercy and seek refuge
from the descent of Your wrath, O Possessor of complete power,
encompassing ability, and boundless mercy.

By Your mercy and through the protection

You have provided to Your righteous servants.

O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

We ask You to turn away from us pestilence and calamity,
O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, by the light of the Eternal Essence of Allah.
By the light of His Noble Face.
By the light of His Glorious Throne.
By the light of the Prophets and Messengers upon whom be peace and
blessings, from the evil of our enemy and the enemy of Allah, and from the
evil of plague and pestilence.

With the protection of a thousand thousands, there is no power or strength

except through Allah, the All-High, the Almighty.

We seal our souls, our religion, our families,

our wealth, and our children with the seal of the great Names.

And with the seal of "There is no god but Allah,

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," truly.

O Allah, You are the Protector of the protectors,

the Revealer of hardship and calamity, the Hearer of prayers.

O Subtle One, You do whatever You will. Turn away from us drought,
earthquakes, high prices, calamities, hardships, suffering, affliction, plague,
and pestilence.

By the sanctity of the leader of the chosen ones,

Amir al-Mu'minin, Ali al-Murtaza, Hasan al-Ridha,
Husayn al-Shahid of Karbala, and Fatimah al-Zahra.

Protect us and those we seek refuge with. There is no power or strength

except through Allah, the Most High, the Almighty.

O Subtle One, You have always been kind to us in every situation.

Surely, You are Subtle, ever-living, eternal, self-sufficient God,
our refuge and support.
Our Lord, remove this calamity from us; indeed, we are believers.

O Dawood, O Dawood, O Dawood,

O Possessor of the Glorious Throne,
O All-Doer of what You desire.
We ask You by Your dignity which cannot be contested,
and by Your kingdom which cannot be opposed,

and by Your Throne which does not waver, and by Your Light which fills the
corners of Your Throne, to relieve us from this situation, O Helper, help us.

O Helper, help us, O Helper, help us.

Our God, there is no Lord for us but You, to You alone we turn in hope,
and none shares in Your kingdom, so to You alone we pray.

You see our state, O Helper, help us.

O Living, O Sustainer. O Living, O Sustainer.

O Most Compassionate, O Most Generous,
O Possessor of Glory and Honor.
O Allah, You are the One of immense grace and generosity,
the One of vast bounty and benevolence,
in Your Name we gather,
and through Your Prophet, the intercessor, and Your chosen friend.

O Intercessor, O Repeller, repel from us this harmful poison,

the deadly disease, and the affliction that cuts off.

Indeed, You are the Responding and Hearing One.

O Subtle One, You have always been kind to us in every situation.

Surely, You are Subtle, ever-living, eternal, self-sufficient God,
our refuge and support.
There is no deity but You. Glory be to You!
Surely, I have been among the wrongdoers.

Creator, Provider, ever-present and enduring, eternal,

self-sufficient, support-giving God.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest,
Allah is the Greatest of what we fear and dread.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest in the
number of our sins until You forgive.

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.

O Allah, bless our Master Muhammad, the owner of Kawthar.

O Allah, as You interceded through

Your Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for us,
grant us respite, establish us in our homes,
and do not destroy us due to our sins.

Do not hold us accountable for our wrongdoings,

and do not destroy us because of our mistakes.

O Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah, do not punish us with Your anger,
and do not destroy us with Your punishment.
Grant us Your protection and forgiveness before that.
O Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah, remove from us the calamity that no one else can

remove except You, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

Have mercy on us with Your mercy that encompasses all things,

and protect us from what lies ahead, behind,
to our right, to our left,
and from above us.
We seek refuge in Your greatness,
that we are not overtaken from beneath us,
O Most Honorable of the honorable.

O Ghayath al-Mustaghithin (Refuge of those seeking refuge),

In the name of Allah, the Everlasting, who has always been,
and always will be,
and there is no power or strength except with Allah,
the Most High, the Most Great.

And We send down from the Qur'an

what is a cure and a mercy for the believers.
To Him belongs whatever dwells in the night and the day,
and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

It is He who created you from a single soul,

and made its resting place and its temporary abode.
We have explained the signs for a people who understand.

Say: He is the One who created you,

and He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts.
Yet how rarely you are grateful!

Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we will return.

Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.

And peace and blessings be upon our master Muhammad,

and his family and companions altogether.
And upon those who follow them in goodness until the Day of Judgment.
All praise is for Allah, the Lord of all worlds.

O Allah, O Allah, relieve us from the plague.

O Allah, O Allah, bring joy to us with good news.
O Sovereign, Reviver of faith, aid us, O Allah.
Hasten for us the victory, O Allah, O Allah.

End

alleviated, needs are fulfilled, desires are attained, good endings are secured,
and the clouds are made to rain by his noble face.

according to the number of all that is known to You.
O Allah, convey the reward of what we have recited as a gift to the presence
of our Master Muhammad, peace be upon him.

Then to the presence of all the Prophets and Messengers.

Then to the souls of all the Companions and Followers.
Then to the souls of all the Saints, Scholars, Martyrs, and Righteous.

Full Arabic text of Qutbiyyah

PDF of Full Arabic text of Qutbiyyah

The Guide: You Must Know the adab before reading Qutbiyyah,
This is a lazam (Must). Otherwise it can cause you problems.

The method of seeking Istighatha (direct help) through the Quthbiya Majlis, as
shared by Sufi Saint Shaykh Gauthul Azam Muhyiddin Abdul Qadir Jilani
(qaddas Allahu sirrah). The practices mentioned are part of the teachings from
Kayalpatnam's great scholar Sadakathulla Appa and also from the Ponnani
Mogdoom Thangal’s teachings in Kerala.

According to the tradition passed down by Kayalpatnam’s Sadakathulla Appa

and the Ponnani Mogdoom Thangal, the Istighatha known as "Quthbiya" is a
specific way of seeking direct assistance from Allah, in particular invoking the
help of the saints, specifically Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (qaddas Allahu sirrah).
This method is structured as follows:

1. Preparation: Before beginning the Quthbiya Majlis, one must perform

two Rak‘ahs (units of prayer) and offer 6 Salam (greetings of peace) while
reciting Istikhara (a prayer for seeking guidance).

2. Recitation: After completing the prayers, one must recite Surah Al-Fatiha
followed by Surah Al-Ikhlas (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad) in each Rak'ah.

3. Invocation of the Quthbiya Baiyath (Oath): Prior to beginning the

recitation of the "Ya Quthba" Baiyath (a special invocation), one must
recite Surah Al-Fatiha and the opening supplication.

4. The Special Invocation: When reciting the "Ya Quthba Baiyath," it is

important to say "Ya Muhyiddini" where appropriate.
5. One should say, “Ya Muhyiddini, Ya Muhyiddini, Abdul Qadir Jilani” during
the specific places mentioned in the prayer.

6. Repeated Recitations: The following specific prayer "Wa Manya

Nadhismii" should be recited three times.

7. Further Steps: After completing the steps above, one should rise up and
perform the next set of recitations. These should be done in a darkened
room (with all lights turned off), reciting the subsequent supplications
three times.

Haadiru Ya Haadiru Ya Haadiru Haadiru

Ya Shaykh Muhyid-deen Abdul-Qadir (3 times)

Naadiru ya Naadiru Ya Naadiru Naadiru

Ya Shaykh Muhyid-deen Abdul-Qadir (3 times)

Naasiru ya Naasiru Ya Naasiru Naasiru

Ya Shaykh Muhyid-deen Abdul-Qadir (3 times)

Qaadiru ya Qaadiru Ya Qaadiru Qaadiru

Ya Shaykh Muhyid-deen Abdul-Qadir (3 times)

Shaafi ya Shaafi Ya Shaafi Shaafi

Ya Shaykh Muhyid-deen Abdul-Qadir (3 times)

Muraadi Ya Muraadi Ya Muraadi

Muraadi Shaykh Muhyid-deen Muraad (3 times)

Present, O Present, O Present, Present,

O my Sheikh, Reviver of the Faith, Abdul Qadir

Radiant, O Radiant, O Radiant, Radiant,

O my Sheikh, Reviver of the Faith, Abdul Qadir
Helper, O Helper, O Helper, Helper,
O my Sheikh, Reviver of the Faith, Abdul Qadir

Capable, O Capable, O Capable, Capable,

O my Sheikh, Reviver of the Faith, Abdul Qadir

Healer, O Healer, O Healer, Healer,

O my Sheikh, Reviver of the Faith, Abdul Qadir

Desire, O Desire, O Desire, Desire,

O my Sheikh, Reviver of the Faith, Abdul Qadir

After reciting these phrases, you are encouraged to recite:

Ya Ghawth, Ya Muhyid-deen Abdul-Qadir Jilani

And then, you are instructed to call out with sincerity,

humility, and devotion, repeating the phrase:

Ya Qutb, Ya Muhyid-deen Abdul-Qadir 1000 times.

By doing so with earnestness, the belief is that one will receive the needed
help and blessings, as promised by Allah's grace.

Then, recite: Ilahi Anta Mahsudi wa Rizaaqi Matloobi

Hasbunallahu wa Ni'mal Wakeel, Ni'mal Maula wa Ni'mal Naseer
– Repeat 3 times
After completing the recitations, create light in the gathering (by lighting
lamps), and continue reading from the part ‘Bahd Salah…’ until you finish
the recitation of the entire text of Ya Khutbah.

Then, recite the supplication (du'a) at the end.

This practice will help fulfill your desires, resolve your problems, and remove
obstacles. Hidden visions will appear, and you will witness the presence of
the righteous, beloved ones, and souls. It is an experiential process. The
environment should be filled with pleasant scents or incense.
Important Note: This can be performed individually or collectively in a
gathering. Permission from elders or authorized individuals (Ijazah) is
necessary to perform this. Do not do it without their approval.

Method for reciting before starting Qutbiyyah (the supplication):

This text involves a spiritual or mystical practice aimed at seeking help and
guidance through the repetition of specific phrases. It emphasizes the
importance of humility, good intention, and spiritual authority (Ijazah) before
performing such practices.
