2025 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

27 - 29 June 2025

From The Stewards Document 28

To The Team Manager, Date 28 June 2025
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team
Time 18:20

The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, have considered the following
matter and determine the following:

No / Driver 63 - George Russell

Competitor Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team
Time 17:03
Session Qualifying
Fact Entering the fast lane without a suitable gap at 17:03.
Infringement Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 5 b) to the FIA International Sporting Code
and non-compliance with Race Director’s Event Note (item 10, Document 21).
Decision Reprimand to the competitor.
Warning to the driver.
Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 63 (George Russell), team representative
and reviewed video and in-car video evidence.
Car 63 tried to enter the fast lane after exiting its garage when other cars were
approaching in the fast lane and therefore had to stop in an angle preventing the
driver from seeing the other cars approaching in the fast lane. The driver tried to
radio the team but in doing so accidentally slipped the clutch, causing the car to jump
forward. The team representative admitted the team could have done a better job in
managing the situation.
Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the
Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and
Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely
on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
