All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow's tears away,
All hail the pow'r of Jesus' name!
Nor let he ever stray
Let angels prostrate fall;
From Thee aside.
}|:Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all;:|'|
When ends life's transient dream,

Ye chosen seed of Israel's race,

When death's cold, sullen stream

A remnant weak and small, Shall o'er me roll,

Blest Savior, then, in love,

J|: Hail Him who saves you by His grace,
Fear and distrust remove
And crown Him Lord of all;:||
Oh, bear me safe above,
Ye Gentile sinners, ne'er forget
A ransomed soul!
The worm-wood and the gall
l|:Go, spread your trophies at His feet,
And crown Him Lord of all;:|| Nearer, My God, to Thee

Let ev'ry kindred, ev'ry tribe

Nearer, my
God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee;
On this terrestrial ball,
E'en though it be a cross
(|:To Him all majesty ascribe
That raiseth me;
And crown Him Lord of all;:||
Still allmy song shall be,

O that, with yonder sacred throng, '

:Nearer, my God, to thee, :|

Nearer to Thee.
We at His feet may fall,
j|:We'll join the everlasting song,
Tho' wanderer,
like a
And crown Him Lord of all;:||
Daylight gone, all

Darkness be over me,

My Faith Looks Up to Thee
My rest a stone,
My faith looks up to Thee, Yet in my dreams I'd be,
Thou Lamb of Calvary, |'|:Nearer, my God, to Thee,:||
Savior divine! Nearer to Thee.
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away, There let the way appear,
Oh, let me from thisday Steps up. to heav'n;
Be wholly Thine. All that Thou sendest me
In mercy giv'n;
May Thy rich grace impart Angels to beckon me,
Strength to my fainting heart, my God, to Thee,:||
||:Nearer,
My zeal inspire; Nearer to Thee.
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee Then with my waking tho'ts
Pure, warm, and changeless be, Bright with Thy praise,
A living fire. Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I'll raise;
While life's dark maze I tread, So by my woes to be,
And griefs around me spread, ||Nearer, my God, to Thee,:||
Be Thou my guide; Nearer to Thee.

Above the Trembling Elements And preach thee, too, as love knows how,
By kindly words and virtuous life:
Above the trembling elements,
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
Above life's restless sea,
We will be true to thee till death!
Dear Saviour, lift my spirit up,
Oh, lift me up to Thee!
Blessed Assurance

Great calmness here, sweet patience, too, Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Upon Thy face I see; Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
I would be calm and patient, Lord, Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Oh, lift me up to Thee! Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

I am not weary of Thy work, Refrain:

From earth I would not flee; |]:This is my story, this is my song,
But while I walk, and while I serve, Praising my Saviour all the day long;:||
Oh, lift me up to Thee!
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
That I may bless my tender friends Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
And those who love not me; Angels descending bring from above
Oh, lift me high above myself, Echoes' of mercy whispers of love.
Dear Jesus, up to Thee!
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
Whatever falls of good or ill, I in my Savio.ur am happy and blest;
Thy hand, Thy care I see, Watching and waiting, looking above.
And while these varied dealings pass, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
Oh, lift me up to Thee!
Near the Cross
And when my eyes close for the last,
Still this my prayer shall be, Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain,
Dear Saviour, lift my spirit up,
Free to all, a healing stream,
And lift me up to Thee!
Flows from Calv'ry's mountain.
Faith of Our Fathers Ref. — In the cross, in the cross
Be my glory ever,
Faith of our fathers! living still
Till my raptured soul shall find
In spite of dungeon, fire, and sword;
Rest beyond the river.
O how our hearts beat high with joy
When-e'er we hear that glorious word! Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Faith of our fathers! holy faith! Love and mercy found me,
We will be true to thee till death! There the Bright and Morning Star
Shed His beams around me.
Our fathers,chained in prisons dark, Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Were heart and conscience free:
still in Bring its scenes before me;
How sweet would be their children's fate, Help me walk from day to day,
If they, like them, could die for Thee! With its shadows o'er me.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death! Near the cross I'll watch and wait,
Hoping, trusting ever.
Faith of our fathers! we will love Till I reach the golden strand,
Both friend and foe in all our strife; Just beyond the river.
Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour What a Friend We Have in Jesus

Pass me not, O gentle Saviour, What a friend we have in Jesus,

Hear my humble cry; All our sins and griefs to bear;
While on others Thou art calling, What a privilege to carry
Do not pass me by. Ev'ry-thing to God in prayer!

Ref. — Saviour, Saviour,

O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
Hear my humble cry,
All because we do not carry
While on others Thou art calling,
Ev'ry-thing to God in prayer.
Do not pass me by.

Let me at a throne of mercy Have we trials and temptations?

Find a sweet relief; Is there trouble anywhere?
Kneeling there in deep contrition, We should never be discouraged:
Help my unbelief. Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Trusting only in Thy merit Who will all our sorrows share?
Would I seek Thy face; Jesus knows our ev'ry weakness;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit, Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Save me by Thy grace.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
Thou the spring of all my comfort, Cumbered with a load of care?
More than life for me, .
Precious Saviour, still our refuge:
Whom have on I earth beside Thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer!

Whom in heav'n but Thee? Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Take it to the Lord in prayer!
The Solid Rock In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness; Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name. Jesus, Saviour, pilot me,
Over life's tempestuous sea;
Ref. — On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; Unknown waves before me roll,

||:A11 other ground is sinking sand,:|| Hiding rocks and treach'rous shoal;
Chart and compass came from Thee,
When darkness seems to veil His face, Jesus, Saviour, pilot me.
I on His unchanging grace;
rest
As a mother stills her child,
In ev'ry high and stormy gale,
Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
My anchor holds within the vail. Boist'rous waves obey Thy will
When Thou say'st to them, "Be still!
His oath, His covenant, and blood;
Wondrous Sov'reign of the sea,
Support me in the whelming flood;
Jesus, Saviour, pilot me.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay. When at last I near the shore,
And the fearful breakers roar
When he shall come with trumpet sound, 'Twixt me and the peaceful rest,
O, may I then in Him be found; Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
Clad in His righteousness alone, May I hear Thee say to me,
Faultless to stand before the throne. "Fear not, I will pilot thee!"

Music Committee with the Publishing Committee take steps in the compiling
of a hymn book of Church standard." The work was taken up by the
Music Committee, and submitted to the Publishing Committee just previous
to the General Conference held at Eureka, 111., August 2(5-28, 1925. This
report together with the recommendations given by the Publishing Committee
were presented to the Conference and instructions were given to complere
