Drama Script for December 2023

Scene I

Curtain opens to two brethren just returning from a bible study, the young brother who is growing up in
the Lord tries to catch up with the second brother who is a strong bible student to have a conversation
with him)

Matthew: (singing as he walks home from bible study) God said it, and I believe it, that settles it….. (
continues whistling the song)

Theophilus: Bro Matthew…..Bro Matthew, please wait for me, I have something to discuss with you

Matthew; Oh Bro Theo Theo, Brother Theophilus, I didn’t know you attended Bible study today.

Theophilus: I did sir

Matthew: that is very beautiful, it’s good to have you around, and hope you enjoyed the bible study

Theophilus: That is the very reason I want to see you sir, to discuss something very important with you

Mathew: (Became enthused) hmm hmm!! What Is the important thing you want to tell me, don’t tell me
you have found a sister you want to marry in the church

Theophilus: not yet sir, still searching (they both bust into laughter) hmm sir, in today’s bible study the
pastor told us that when the devil attacks us, we should confront the devil by engaging the power of the
word

Matthew: Yes, we have power over the devil, The Lord has given us the tools to fight the devil, we only
use the scripture to fight the devil, one of it is to resist the devil and he shall flee away from you

Theophilus (surprised) is that so? So that one is also in the bible

Matthew: Yes my brother, the Lord has given us the power to trample on snakes and scorpions and to
overcome all the power of the enemy, and nothing will harm us, it’s right there in the bible

Theophilus: it’s a lie o, don’t tell me that one is also in the bible

Matthew; Brother Theophilus, this is why you need to be a good student of the bible, don’t’ miss bible
study, so that you can equip yourself with the word ok, no dey allow the devil cheat you my brother

(Matthew, needs to catch up with a sister from the church, and excused himself from the conversation
with Theophilus) , hmm brother, I need to catch up with Sister Banke, I will see you later ok. Make sure
you work on the things I say ok

Theophilus: thank you so much sir ( He begin to thinks aloud as he pace around) it seems there is sense
in this thing this brother said o, I should fight the devil with the word, the word, the bible) can this thing
be real? , this brother does not know the kind of battle I am fighting 0, me that I use to dream terrible
dream, ah the last beaten those mama gave me, my back and neck are still aching me. (sighs). If truly
what brother Matthew said and Pastor said is true, then I will try it out, haa, I will try it, mehn if this
thing work peren, I will beat, I will beat the hell out of my enemies, …yes, that is exactly what I am going
to do.
 Scene II

(Curtain opens to Theophilus on the stage, different versions of the bible are placed on the stage,
Matthew is seen coming from the bathroom, an indication that he his about to sleep, a towel is around
his neck)

Theophilus: ah ah, today na today, I go kill person, I mean it, I go kill person, make no body beg me o.
now it is my turn, the bible is the word of God, which I can use to fight the devil, see them , see them,
dem bokku for you, all those mama dem, wey dey beat me for dream, today, if dem come again, na fight
to finish. I will destroy them using the word, oh, which one of this bible should I use to destroy them o, is
KJV, or NIV, SLT, NKJV, RSV, TLB etc I have them plenty here, Brother Matthew has encouraged me to fight
the enemy using the word, and these( points to the bibles that are spread of the floor) are the words of
God.

(Theophilus seats down as though he is expecting the accusers to visit in the physical, he continues his
brag until he slowly sleeps off. Deep in his sleep as he snores, the accusers pay him a visit)

Accusers( dressed in black, and with black shades, they walk slowly and majestically into Theophilus
room, they clap their hands 3 times to wake Theophilus up but he never responds)

Accuser 1: This fellow is so weak and lazy, even our calls and beckon did not wake him up, or is he dead?

Accuser 2: Dead?, we need to speak the language he understands (accuser 2 taps him) Ogbeni wake up

Theophilus: yee, mogbe o, mogbe o ah eyin iya, mothers, it’s you again, oh you people have come again,
what I have done to again this time around, why don’t you just leave me alone

Accusers (surprise that Theophilus could speak to them in that manner and tone, both speaks at the
same time) what Theophilus, how dare you talk to us like that

Theophilus, why won’t I talk to you like, every time, you will be harassing and strangling someone, you
want me to die, kuku kill me now, see I am prepared for you today, there is nothing you can do. I have
back myself up with the word of God as you can see. So back off

Accusers (look at each other and burst into laughter) Theophilus, is it the short sermon you heard at
today bible’s study that gives you this boldness, O ma se o?

Theophilus (become jittery) ehh!! you people know able the bible study
Accusers: we know your yesterday, we know your today, we know your future.

Theophilus: ah yee modaran, how did you know, (all of a sudden, he remembers Matthew’s counsel
about the word) the word, the word, yes the word, ok, so even if you know about my life, enough is
enough, now I have the word, it is time for you to leave me alone and never come back, now I am using
the word of the Lord in this bible, leave me alone now and leave in the name of Jesus

Accusers: is this a a joke of what? What authority do you have to send us away, is this playing? What
type of playing is this?
Theophilus: it’s not play o, and I am not joking, leave me now in the name of Jesus (he points the bible to
the accusers)

Accusers: you have stepped on the snakes tail, and now be ready for the snakes’s bite

Theophilus: I don’t care about any tail, just leave me alone and never come back, leave now in the name
of Jesus (still pointing the bible to the accusers)
Accusers( the accusers do as though they are about to leave, Theophilus is excited that his tactics is
working , but all of a sudden, the accusers turn back and give me a slap on his neck)

Theophilus: yeeeee Jesus, Jesus, Jesus , please don’t kill me ( kneels down to plead)

Accusers: Let this be a lesson for you and people like you who are not sound scripturally and wants to
confront the devil in a spiritual combat, take this ( blows a powder on him to make him sleep and laughs
as he sleeps on) this is how we deal with weak Christian how do not have strong foundation in the word
of God,
Accuser 1: Let us go and hunt others, we are surely coming back for this one ( Accusers leave the stage)
Theophilus (talks from his dream) leave me alone, leave me alone, please don’t kill me, Noooooo (wakes
up panting and breathing heavily) ah, ye this dream again, ha, they slap me, they slap ( touch his neck to
feel the pain) I can’t move my name. I need to go and see Brother Matthew, this thing is not working.
(sobs as he leaves the stage)
