Kindness to Family and Relatives

The next morning, the principal met the pupils after the
flag ceremony. He gave them a short talk about kindness to
family and relatives.

“My beloved pupils, if you love

and respect your family and close
relatives, our Merciful Lord will
shower you with grace. Your
relatives are the closest people to
you. Sometimes they stay with you
in your house. They are the people

near you. If you need some help, they are the ones you can
depend on.”

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad  said:

“If any man is pleased to prolong his life and to make his
livelihood solvent, let him fear God and join the tie of
relationship.”
He also said:
“He who just returns the visits of his
relatives does not completely fulfill
the obligations of relationship. But he
who ignores the mistakes of his
relatives, forgives them, and visits
them in order to bind the ties of
relationship when they are broken
does fulfill the obligations of
relationship.” (Narrated by Bukhārī)

“Your relatives are the people related to you by blood. You are
obliged to respect them and maintain good relationship with
them as the ahādīth (traditions) of our Prophet Muhammad 
ordain us.
“My dear pupils, it is time to learn more about Islam. We
are in school today to learn more about values that Islam gives
us.”
“This is the proper time to study Islam. Your teachers
teach you about good behavior and your Islamic Values book
gives you more lessons on values that will make your life
prosperous.”
“My beloved pupils our model in our lives is our dearest
Prophet Muhammad  who showed us his beautiful character
in dealing with his relatives. When he was in Makkaĥ inviting
people to accept Islam, some of his relatives did not accept his
call. Some of them tortured Muhammad  to stop him in his

work. Muhammad  treated them with kindness and mercy. In
the end, all his relatives accepted Islam as their religion.”
