OVERVIEW OF THE COMPONENT TO BE DESIGNED:
INTRODUCTION:
In this project, we explored 3D modeling
techniques using specialized software.The
objective was to design and render a 3D
model to understand core modeling
principles CATIA an acronym of computer-
aided three-dimensional interactive
application) is a multi-platform software
suite for computer-aided design (CAD),
computer-aided manufacturing (CAM),
computer-aided engineering(CAE), 3D
modeling and product lifecycle management
(PLM), developed by the French company
Dassault Systemes
PROCESS TO DESIGN THE GIVEN COMPONENT IN
CATIA V5 SOFTWARE:

STEP-1:
Set Up the Environment
Open CATIA > Start > Mechanical Design >
Part Design
Create a new part file.
STEP-2:
Create the Base Profile
Workbench: Sketcher
Select XY plane.
Sketch the main base profile (120 mm × 60
mm) with rounded ends (semi-circles of R30).
Add holes for mounting (4 holes with R4 and
positioned using dimensions in the top
view).
Exit Sketch.
STEP-3:
Pad the Base
Use the Pad feature to extrude the base by
20 mm.

STEP-4:
Create Central Boss
Select the top face of the base > enter
Sketcher.
Draw the central circular profile (Ø50 outer
circle, Ø30 inner pocket).
Exit Sketch.
Use Pad to extrude Ø50 boss to a height of
20 mm.

STEP-5:
Create the Central Hole and Inner Features
Select the top face of the boss > Sketch.
Draw the inner hole of Ø30.
Use Pocket to cut it down by 15 mm.
Draw the smaller inner Ø20 hole and Pocket
it by 25 mm (as shown in Section B-B).

STEP-6:
Create the Side Ribs
Use the plane parallel to XY plane at 20
mm.
Sketch one rib profile (as shown in Section
A-A)
and use Pad with Mirroring or Rectangular
Pattern to create symmetric ribs.

STEP-7:
Cut the Slots or Pockets
Select appropriate face > Sketch.
Sketch the slots or pockets (as per
sectional views).
Use Pocket to remove material to correct
depth.

STEP-8:
Create the Chamfers and Fillets
Use the Edge Fillet tool to apply fillets
(e.g., R2) as specified in views.
Use Chamfer tool where chamfers are given.
