7. TARGET MEAN COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH(FCK)
(IS: 10262-2019 Clauses-4.2 & Clause 4.2.1.3)
The Target mean Compressive Strength required to be achieved by the designed mix in theLaboratories
Fck =fck+1.65 x S F’ck = fck+ X
2
= 20 + 1.65 X 4 = 26.6 N/mm 20+ 5.5= 25.5 N/mm2
Where
2
F ck = Target mean Compressive Strength at 28 days (N/mm )
2
fck = Characteristic Compressive Strength at 28 days (N/mm )
S =Standard deviation
X =Factor Based on Grade of Concrete
2
Higher Value is to be adopted. Therefore, target strength will be 26.6 N/mm as 26.6 > 25.5 N/mm2

Fck =26.6 N/mm2

RECOMMENDATIONS: THE FINAL TRIAL-3 (1: 2.1: 3.5) WITH 335 KG/M3 OF CEMENT IS RECOMMENDED
AND ACTUAL QUANTITIES REQUIRED FOR THE MIX: -
Note:-
1 The above mentioned coarse and fine aggregates are in saturated surface dry condition.
2 If dry aggregates are used, the amount of mixing water should be increased by an amount equal to the moisture likely to
be absorbed by the aggregate.
3 If wet aggregate are used, necessary adjustments should be made on mixing water and aggregate depending upon the
amount of free (surface) Moisture present.
4 It will be advised to check the silt content of sand at frequent intervals during the supply. If the silt Content in sand is
higher than the permissible limit the sand may require washing.
5 The mix design can be adopted at the site after carrying out trials, as usual.
