1. Basic configuration
You can access the configuration page of the gateway in the following two ways.
The gateway has the AP mode, which can be used for the gateway configuration. Does not
affect the networking mode of the current gateway as a client.
The AP mode provides a WiFi hotspot with the SSID name "GW-XXXXXXXXXXXX", and the
XXXXXXXXXXXX is the hexadecimal capital character corresponding to the gateway MAC
address. After connecting to the gateway WiFi, use a computer or mobile phone browser to open
the link: http://192.168.99.1 to enter the login interface of the configuration interface (see the
figure below).
By default, no password is required to connect to this WiFi hotspot. If you need to control
the access rights of third parties, you can modify the AP SSID name in the configuration
interface, the IP address should be set as 192.168.X.1 (the gateway subnet network segment
cannot be the same as the access route), and set the WiFi connection password.1
1
Network segment: For example, IP: 192.168.X.1, when the X is the same, the network segment is the same, and
when the X is different, the network segment is different.
As long as the devices with browsers such as computers and mobile phones are in the same
LAN as the gateway, the computer can enter the configuration page of the gateway by entering
the IP address in the browser without connecting to the WiFi hotspot of the gateway.
It should be noted that the IP address of the gateway device is not necessarily 192.168.99.1,
and you can scan the IP address acquired by the gateway through the ARP scanning tool (through
the router or Linux command, etc.)
Some enterprise-level routers can view the ARP list (the list of IP addresses and MAC
addresses) on the management page of the router.

The default login password on the gateway configuration page is empty, and you can log in
directly by clicking login. For security, please set the administrator login password in ADMIN
PASSWORD on the "status" page.
After changing the password, please remember that if you forget, you can only log in
through the console or modify it.
1.3 AP configuration
The gateway AP / WiFi hotspot is turned on by default, which can hide or close the AP
hotspots, or set the connection password in AP mode. There are two ways to control the AP of
the gateway WiFi: through the Reset button of the gateway or through the web page

restored when the time exceeds 5 seconds.
Open AP: Uncheck the "Disabled" option in the "Status" page, click the "Save" button,
click the "Apply" button, it will ask whether to restart the gateway service immediately (see the
figure below), click "Apply" to take effect immediately, Click "OK" again. Then refresh the
page, wait for the gateway service to restart and update the interface information, as shown in the
following figure.
The hotspot can be hidden only when the AP is on. In the "Status" page, check the
"Hidden" option, click the "Save" button and then click "OK" , you can also hide or display
the WiFi hotspot, as shown in the figure below.
In the AP setting column under "Status" of the gateway WEB configuration interface , the
user can set the connection password in AP mode (see the figure below). After clicking the
"Apply" button, it will take effect immediately, or you can click "Cancel" to cancel, and it will
take effect after restarting.
2. Network configuration
The MG6 gateway can connect to the network in three ways: Ethernet, Wireless, and
Cellular. The MG6 gateway can maintain the connection of multiple networks at the same time,
and the combination of connecting networks can be Ethernet + Wireless, Ethernet + Cellular, and
Ethernet + Wireless + Cellular. The Gateway enables the dhcp mode by default.
The MG6 gateway has an RJ45 port, which can be used to access the Internet via a network
cable.
Ethernet Mode has two submodes, DHCP mode (default) and STATIC mode, DHCP mode is
that the gateway automatically obtains the IP address from the superior router, and STATIC mode
is to manually assign a fixed IP address to the gateway. Click on the drop-down menu to select.
In the Ethernet Settings column of the gateway configuration interface, select the DHCP
mode and click the "Save" button before the network Settings will take effect. Connect the MG6
gateway and the superior router with the network cable, and the gateway will automatically

obtain the IP address and connect to the network from the superior router through the DHCP
protocol.
If you are already connected to Ethernet, the status items will show Network Mode as
ethernet, and Ethernet IP Address will show the IP of Ethernet, otherwise Ethernet IP Address
will display N/ A.
Connect the MG6 gateway and the superior router with the network cable, select the static
mode in the Ethernet column of the gateway configuration page, fill in the IP address
information, click the "Save" button, and the network setting will take effect and automatically
connect to the network.
If you are already connected to Ethernet, the status item will display Network Mode as
ethernet and Ethernet IP Address displays Ethernet IP, otherwise Ethernet IP Address will display
N / A.
2.2Wireless linkage
The MG6 gateway can be used as a WLAN client to connect to the WLAN AP and realize
the data communication with the server.
Wireless Mode has two submodes, DHCP mode (default) and STATIC mode, DHCP mode is
that the gateway automatically obtains the IP address from the superior router, and STATIC mode
is to manually assign a fixed IP address to the gateway.
In the Wireless Settings section of the Network Configuration interface, Profile list is the list
of configured WLAN SSID.
Select the WLAN SSID that the gateway wants to connect from the Available Access Point
list, and the corresponding relevant information, such as ssid, bssid (MAC address), encryption
and signal channel, is displayed in the text box below.
We only need to select the corresponding SSID, fill in the password, select the dhcp mode,
and then click "Save profile" to add only the WIFI profile. If you have multiple WIFI AP, you
can repeat the above, add multiple alternate WIFI to a "Profile", switching WLAN SSID and
"save profile" will not delete the previously configured WIFI. The gateway tries to switch to the
available WIFI in the current Profile.
It is worth noting that the Save profile button means that only the profile is saved to the
gateway, but it does not take effect. If it needs to take effect immediately, click "Apply" to restart
the network service.
If you have been connected to the specified WIFI, the status item displays Network Mode as
ethernet> wireless and Wireless IP Address shows the IP of WIFI, otherwise Wireless IP Address

displays N / A.
In order to meet the needs of different customers, we can fill in the hidden WIFI SSID in the
SSID column, or the router MAC address locked to the corresponding router (SSID name can be
set the same, MAC is unique); Besides, we also added support for 802.1x enterprise AP
connection, you can select the corresponding encryption mode and related configuration in the
Encryption column (see the figure below). The specific verification method corresponds to the
relevant configuration of the upper router, which users need to fill in by themselves.
In the Wireless Settings column of the gateway configuration interface, select the WLAN
SSID and the password to connect from the Available Access Point list, select static mode, fill in
the IP address information and DNS address information, then click "Save profile" to add only
the WIFI configuration file, and then click "Apply" to restart the network service.
If you have been connected to the specified WIFI, the status item displays Network Mode as
ethernet> wireless, and Wireless IP Address shows the connected IP of the wireless network,
otherwise Wireless IP Address displays N / A.
The MG6 gateway can connect to the cellular network and realize the data communication
with the server.
In the Cellular Settings column of the Network configuration interface, remove the Disabled
check and click the "Save" button, the network Settings will take effect and automatically
connect to the network.
If already connected to the cellular network, the status item will show Network Mode as
ethernet> cellular, and Cellular IP Address shows the connected IP of the cellular network,
otherwise Cellular IP Address will show N / A.
2.4 Failover
Gateways support any network in Ethernet, WIFI, and cellular networks, and can also enable
networking where two or three of them coexist. When multiple networks coexist, the network
usage priority is from high to low as: Ethernet> Wireless> Cellular. The gateway will adjust the
network mode according to the availability and priority of the network.
In any case, no matter how the user configure WIFI, whether the cellular network is usable,
as long as the gateway is plugged and the network is available, the Ethernet connection is
preferred. Assuming all three gateway network connections exist, it will try to switch to WIFI
when Ethernet is unavailable, and again, when WIFI is not available, it will try to switch to a
cellular network.
Failover Please refer to for the detailed description of the general properties interface 2.4.1
Ethernet + Wireless connection
Note: If only WIFI is currently available and the WIFI network check fails, the gateway
switches between multiple WIFI hotspots. If no WIFI hotspot is available, it switches to the AP _
only mode.
AP _ ONLY mode: AP _ ONLY mode refers to the gateway does not connect to the
superior WiFi hotspot, and only launches its own hot spot, so that after the superior WiFi
hotspot fails, users can also re-enter the configuration page with the help of the gateways
own hot spot.
If the gateway is connected to Ethernet and WIFI is configured, Network Mode is E thernet>
wireless in the status item.
Ethernet IP Address Display the connected IP of Ethernet, otherwise Ethernet IP Address
displays N / A.
Wireless IP Address Display the IP of the wireless network, otherwise Wireless IP Address
will display N / A.
Network usage priority is: Ethernet> Wireless. When Ethernet is not available, it will try to
switch to WIFI. If the hotspot network inspection in the current Profile List fails, the gateway
will switch to other hot spots in the Profile List in order. When the network inspection fails many
times, the gateway will add the failed hot spots to the blacklist. When the hot spot is added to the
blacklist, the gateway will not try again until the blacklist expires. When none of the hotspots in
the Profile List are available, the gateway switches to the AP_ONLY mode, and during the
AP_ONLY mode, the gateway automatically retries to connect to the Profile List hotspot.
If the later Ethernet is available, the gateway will use an Ethernet connection.
field description
Hidden property of ssid Is the current WIFI sf d hidden.(Do not arbitrarily change the
hidden properties of the hotspot, otherwise the failover function
may not find the hotspot.)

As described in, again, when WIFI is not available, it will try to switch to a cellular network. If
the later Ethernet is available, the gateway will use an Ethernet connection.
2. 5 Relay function
The bridging relay mode means that the LAN interface of the gateway will use the IP
segment of the upstream router. In this mode, the downlink gateway is in the same network
segment, which is convenient for batch management.
Nonbridging relay mode means that the LAN interface of the gateway creates its subnet. In
this mode, the uplink gateway cannot directly access the downlink gateway, which is not
conducive to batch management.
After the MG6 Bluetooth gateway is started, the Bluetooth broadcast data will be collected
continuously, and the default data will be sent to the connected server in one second when the
network is available.

Data uploaded by the MG6 Bluetooth gateway comes in three formats (with the firmware
updates, the format may increase, subject to the actual display), MINEW-CONNECT,
JSON-RAW, and JSON-PREPARSED. The gateway defaults to the upload server using the
MINEW-CONNECT format.
The MG6 Bluetooth Gateway supports the offline storage feature, which takes effect when
the function is turned on and a TF card is inserted. The gateway will write data into the storage
media when disconnected and prioritize the upload when the internet connection is restored.
As shown in the figure below, you can choose your favorite data format by modifying the

Recovery of factory setting: set successfully, the gateway performs the
restart operation (according to the first effect), and if the setting fails, the
restart operation is not performed (still the current effect).
The gateway does not have an RTC clock, so it is necessary to synchronize the time of the
NTP server to obtain the accurate time or manually synchronize the time of the host where the
browser is located to the gateway.
Both the time zone and the NTP server address can be set. In the time configuration column
of "Other" on the web page, you can set the time zone (UTC by default) and NTP server (default
is the ntp server of openwrt). After filling in your own information, click the "Apply" button to
complete the configuration. Effective immediately. As shown below.
The default UTC time zone is 0 time zone. If the timezone is in the east time zone, it can be
set to UTC-time zone number. For example, if it is set to UTC-8, it is the time zone of our east
eighth zone;
If the timezone can be set in the western time zone, it can be set to UTC+time zone number. For
example, if it is set to UTC+8, it is the time zone of the western eighth zone.
Sync interval Indicates the interval for synchronizing time with the server. For example, if it
is set to 60, it means that the time synchronization with the server will be performed
automatically every minute.
Tips: China time zone can also be set to CST-8, more detailed Timezone
Settingshttps://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/system
Set the gateway system time manually, you can click Apply with host time or click Apply.
Current time Show is the time of the gateway system. As shown in the figure below.
When you click Apply with host time, the gateway will actively obtain the time that the
browser is hosting and synchronize the time to the gateway. Before clicking Apply with host
time, the Timezone parameter must be the same time zone as the time zone of the host where the
browser is located, otherwise the set time is sometimes an error.
When clicking Apply, the gateway is to obtain Time time synchronization to the gateway.
The automatic management module is divided into Automatic Reboot (automatic restart) and
Timing Reboot (timed restart). As shown below.
The gateway does not enable the automatic restart function by default. If the gateway is
disconnected from the server for more than a specified time during the stable connection with the
server (the reason for the disconnection may be the server or the gateway network), the gateway
will automatically restart. After the gateway is restarted, if the server has not been connected to
the server, the gateway will not restart again . The automatic restart will only occur during the
process of being disconnected in the middle.
The timing restart function is disabled by default on the gateway. After enabling this
function, the gateway will restart at the specified time (the time zone used by the time is the time
zone in the previous time configuration ).
Gateways consists of WiFi modules and BLE modules, so gateway upgrades involve two
types of firmware: WiFi firmware and BLE firmware. It is recommended that you upgrade the
BLE firmware and then upgrade the WiFi firmware.
Different firmware versions correspond to different function adjustment and upgrade, which
can be selected on demand.
WiFi firmware upgrades support USB upgrades, FILE upgrades, On The Air upgrades
(OTA), LAN upgrades, and customer custom firmware upgrades (essentially OTA).
Note: The entire upgrade process lasts for 2 to 3 minutes, the USB upgrade is the fastest, and
the air upgrade time depends on the network status. During the upgrade process, the status light
of the gateway turns red and flashes, and the upgrade process is not over until the blue light is
often on. Before the state light becomes blue light often on, do not disconnect the power of the
gateway, otherwise there is a risk of brick.
In the case that the gateway can connect to the Internet, Firmware Type select WiFi in the

4.5 Troubleshooting
Check whether the network configuration of the gateway is normal, you can use the ping and
traceroute commands. The ping command is a common command to detect whether the network
is unblocked, while the traceroute command is the different router that shows the packet reaching
the target address to determine the node of the problem. The two are often used together.
The ping is used to determine whether the specified target address is accessible and to detect
whether the gateway network is smooth.

Click the Reboot button in the column of "Other" on the web page to achieve a one-click
restart, as shown in the figure below.
There are two ways to restore the factory settings: through the gateway Reset button or
through the web page configuration
Reset by any of the following methods. If a successful reset, the gateway should be restarted,
namely shutdown the light first, and then the blue light is always on, which means that the
factory setting has been successfully restored and the gateway is starting. If the lamp effect does
not change, the recovery is failed and the restart is not performed.
Since the previous configuration will be lost after restoring to factory settings, please
operate with caution.
When the gateway is fully started, that is, when the blue light is no longer on, hold the Reset
key of the device through the Reset hole for 5s and release, and the device will resume the
factory setting with lighting effect indication.
Click the "Factory Reset" button in the "Other" page to restore the factory settings, as
shown in the figure below.
When the gateway is powered off during the upgrade process, or the wrong firmware is
flashed, the gateway may become bricked. There are two ways to save the brick, one is through
the web page (mini-web server), and the other is serial port burning.
operating steps:
1. Power off the gateway device (or unplug the power cord).
2. Use the network cable to directly connect the gateway network port and the computer. At this
time, the network port is the LAN port. In addition to this case, the network port can only be
used as a WAN port.
