1. List and discuss the two most important forces and process that shaped the surface of the
earth in general and the topographic set up, the dominant geological events that happened
during the major geological eras in Ethiopia and the Horn in particular.
2. Elaborate the Continental Drift theory that proposed by Alfred Wegener including the
evidences that he has provided to support his explanation.
3. Discuss briefly the impacts of topography and climatic conditions in affecting the various
economic activities such as agriculture, forestry, mining, trade, transportation in Ethiopia.
4. Ethiopia is one of the a few countries in the world that does not have access to the sea,
land-locked country with more than one hundred ten millions human population.
5. Discuss briefly the social and economic impacts that Ethiopia being a landlocked
country? Support your discussions with concrete evidences. And propose the possible
solutions to alleviate the challenges encountered.
6. Explain briefly the advantages and disadvantages of tourism industry in Ethiopia.
Support your explanation with the international tourist arrivals and revenue generated in

9. Ethiopia has enormous resource potentials. However, in terms of its population, it is one
of the countries with a rapid population increase in Africa, the second populous country
next to Nigeria, with a backward and infant social and economic development. List and
explain the major causes and what alternative measures should be taken to reduce the gap
between these drastic population growth on one hand and the poor social and economic
development on the other hand.
