Minor Degree Policy (As per NEP 2020 Guidelines)
1. Introduction
In alignment with the multidisciplinary approach envisioned under the National Education Policy
(NEP) 2020, KIET Group of Institutions introduces Minor Degree programs for B.Tech students.
These programs provide an excellent opportunity for students to pursue a specialized area of interest
beyond their core discipline, enhancing their academic breadth and career prospects.
2. Objective
The Minor Degree aims to:
Encourage multidisciplinary learning.
Enhance students’ employability by adding domain-specific skills.
Provide academic flexibility through cross-departmental specialization.
Allow students to graduate with an additional certification in a specialized field.
3. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Minor Degree, students must meet the following conditions:
Be a regular student enrolled in any B.Tech program at KIET Group of Institutions.
Each minor will consist of 4 or more courses adding up to 16 credits.
Must have CGPA 6.5 and above and no backlogs in any examination (i.e., should have
cleared all subjects up to the time of registration).
Must apply within the prescribed window (3rd semester).
A student can apply in one degree program only during his/her major degree program.
Admission to a Minor Degree program is subject to departmental capacity and prerequisites
(if any).
4. Program Requirements
The Minor Degree requires completion of 16 additional credits, which are over and above
the 160 credits of the regular B.Tech major program.
