INTRODUCTION
This work is divided into two parts, which consist of making the
presentation in the forum and respond respectively to 5 questions raised from the
activity guide in order to socialize with group mates.
each response to the members created a new response for the
interests placed in order to have each concept clearer.
with this activity the aim is to investigate the concept of botany
the branches in which they are divided, identify two plant species from each
region where we live, its importance and its contributions to the development of
agricultural production and the types of plant species that contribute to it
forest production of each region allowing to know the other territories and
how important they are for development and understanding why it is significant
study of botany in our information program.
3
OBJECTIVES
GENERAL: inquire and interact about the topics of the first activity which
correspond to the identification of botany and how it is applied in our
degree which is agronomy and each of the functions of this study that we
It leads to recognizing each characteristic and function that it fulfills in plants.
SPECIFIC:
identify the concept of botany.
recognize the branches of botany.
expose two plant species that contribute to agricultural production of each
region.
To expose the species that are of great importance in forest production of
each region.
recognize the importance of economic botany in agronomy.

What does the concept of Botany mean?
Botany is that part of the natural science that aims to study
of the vegetables, both in their microscopic and molecular aspects, as
macroscopic and functional. Plants are organic and living beings, deprived of
of nervous sensitivity, and of mad mobility; but they enjoy irritability, and of
resistance to external actions that permanently tend to destroy them.
This science is divided into several kingdoms: plants, fungi, protoctista, and monera, which
will be explained later.
2. What are the branches by which the science of Botany is divided?
for your study? Explain what each one consists of.
PHYTOCHEMISTRY: It is responsible for studying and identifying chemical products
what plants contain.
HISTOLOGY: Histology is the study of microscopic anatomy.
(microanatomy) of cells and tissues of plants and animals.
Phytopathology: it is responsible for the study and identification of
diseases in plants caused by pathogens and environmental conditions
study helps us to monitor the plants' abilities to resist this type
of pathogens.
5
PHYTOGEOGRAPHY: Botanical geography, also known as
phytogeography, is the branch of biogeography and botany that deals with the
geographical distribution of plant species and its influence on the surface of
the earth.
Phytogeography deals with all aspects of the distribution of plants,
GEOBOTANY: Geobotany analyzes the living conditions under which
various taxa and plant communities grow, like organisms
individuals adapt to local conditions and the type of strategies of
survival that they pursue.
The methodological diversity of this discipline also reflects the multitude of habitats.
what needs to be investigated.
3. Why is the study of economic Botany important in your
training program?
Importance of Economic Botany As we well know, economic botany
has been in constant rapid evolution, which has served for a
well-being for all living beings, which leads to the improvement of the
plants, which allows us to obtain better varieties.

4. Do you think society understands and takes actions for the
environmental protection, if so, mention which ones.
Yes, they understand what is happening; the society does not apply, but society can.
to do any of these things like social participation in topics such as the
global warming, water availability, deforestation, the patterns of
production and consumption, as well as the principles and values that support it
society is very important.
Do you think there are enough laws for the protection of the environment?
environment? If so, mention at least two.
Yes, of course there are quite a few laws that protect the environment such as
Water protection.
Protection of the marine environment, such as Law 41/2010, of December 29,
protection of the marine environment, through which discharges from ships are controlled
and aircraft, protecting threatened marine species, as well as the
declaration of protected marine areas. Law that protects against climate change.
Likewise, on January 21, 2020, the Council of Ministers agreed to the
Government Declaration on the Climate and Environmental Emergency
the declaration is in line with the international commitment to reduce the
global greenhouse gas emissions, assumed through the Agreement

from Paris, as well as with the commitments made in the 2030 Agenda of The
United Nations, on the Sustainable Development Goals.
And there is even more.
Do you think that there is economic investment in actions?
for the protection of the environment?
I think so since Colombia is one of the richest countries in
biodiversity that means there is not so much pollution, and well yes it is
economically helping the difficulties of the environment in the country.
7. Why is the study of Botany important in conservation?
of the environment?
Botany is important mainly because it is the scientific study of the
plants, which in turn are used in many aspects of human life. The
botanists study plants of all kinds and apply their knowledge of the
characteristics and traits of crops, plants, and flowers to influence the fields of
medicine, science, and cosmetics among others. Plants support functions
basic daily needs of human life by providing food and nutrition,
supplement medications and cosmetic products and serve as ingredients
important in a variety of medications.
Botany affects most aspects of life in many ways.

different. Products such as food, medicines, wood, fabrics, alcohol and
rubber is derived from plants; botany has enabled these technologies and
many more. Botany is key to the development of biofuels, such as the
biomass and methane gas, which are alternatives to fossil fuels. This
Science is also essential for economic productivity because it includes a
study of crops and ideal cultivation techniques to help farmers to
increase production and make their practices more efficient. Botany
It is also important in the field of environmental protection. The
botanists document the various types of plants existing on Earth and
they can issue warnings when populations begin to decline. The
botanists can influence the studies of other academic disciplines, such as the
life sciences, the communication of sciences, ecology and biology
evolutionary.

CONCLUSIONS
to conclude this activity and to give development to each of the activities
proposals to the guide to address the importance of botany and each of its
functions and the essential role played in our career, understanding
that botany is a very broad branch and has been applied for
years through the empirical way and over time has improved
demonstrating each of the studies and in this way understanding that it is fundamental
its application in our daily lives to recognize plant species that contribute to
development of each municipality or department, which is very interesting.
