SERMON TITLE: How to Escape the Net of Familiar Spirits

INTRODUCTION
Beloved, we live in a deeply spiritual world. What you see physically is only a small fraction of
the battlefields that surround us. Many believers are entangled in invisible nets—nets woven
by dark forces known as familiar spirits. These spirits are ancient, cunning, and deeply
knowledgeable of family lineages, patterns, and personal weaknesses.
The term “familiar spirits” comes from the Latin word familiaris, meaning “household servant”
or “close associate.” In spiritual warfare, familiar spirits are demonic agents assigned to
families, bloodlines, or individuals to monitor, manipulate, oppress, or destroy destinies
through inherited curses, behavioural patterns, and subtle bondages.
Familiar spirits operate undetected in many lives because they are familiar—they study your
habits, your thoughts, your emotions, and your bloodline. They gather information and use it
against their victims. They are responsible for repeating negative cycles, ancestral limitations,
and recurring failures that defy natural explanations.
Have you noticed the same sickness that killed your grandfather now threatening your father?
Do you struggle with habits or addictions that your mother or siblings also battle? Do you see
stagnation, premature death, or marital failures trailing your family like a shadow? These may
be signs of the net of familiar spirits.
In this sermon, we will expose the nature of familiar spirits, how they operate, and—most
importantly—how to escape their net by fire through the power in the blood of Jesus.
Isaiah 8:19 – “And when they shall say unto you, seek unto them that have familiar spirits…
should not a people seek unto their God?”
Leviticus 20:6 – “And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits… I will even set
my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.”
PART 1: WHAT ARE FAMILIAR SPIRITS?
Spiritual Spies: They act as intelligence agents for satanic kingdoms, gathering information
about individuals and families.
 Agents of Ancestral Bondage: They enforce evil covenants, curses, and ancestral yokes
across generations.
 Dream Manipulators: They use dreams as a doorway for deception, pollution, and soul
manipulation.
 Soulish Attachments: Sometimes, familiar spirits enter through ungodly soul ties, blood
covenants, or contact with the occult.
 Deceptive Imitators: They often impersonate dead relatives to gain legal access
through grief or necromancy.
 Cycle Enforcers: They maintain patterns of failure, untimely death, poverty, and delay
through cycles.
PART 2: HOW FAMILIAR SPIRITS GAIN ACCESS
 Bloodline Curses: Inherited from forefathers who served idols or practiced witchcraft.
 Unconfessed Sin: Especially sexual sin, bitterness, and rebellion.
 Occult Involvement: Visiting herbalists, false prophets, or using charms and
enchantments.
 Household Idols: Keeping cursed objects, amulets, or items from witch doctors.
 Grave Attachments: Consulting the dead or attending necromantic rituals.
PART 3: SIGNS OF FAMILIAR SPIRIT BONDAGE
 Persistent dreams of old family houses, dead relatives, or former schools.
 Seeing shadows or hearing voices in solitude.
  Sudden personality changes or loss of willpower.
 Constant setbacks at the edge of breakthrough.
 Experiencing the same tragic events over generations.
 Hearing your name being called, especially when alone.
PART 4: HOW TO ESCAPE THE NET
1. Genuine Salvation: Without a personal relationship with Jesus, deliverance is
temporary.
2. Aggressive Repentance: Renounce all ancestral covenants, known and unknown.
3. Destroy Legal Grounds: Burn all occult items, renounce evil dedications, break ungodly
soul ties.
4. Fervent Prayers and Fasting: Some bondages require spiritual violence to break.
5. Scriptural Warfare: Use Scriptures as spiritual missiles (e.g., Psalm 91, Colossians 2:14–
15).
6. Blood of Jesus: Plead the blood to erase demonic records and break yokes.
Obadiah 1:17 – “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and
the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”

CONCLUSION
Beloved, escaping the net of familiar spirits is not a one-time event. It is a continuous war that
requires alertness, sanctification, spiritual warfare, and walking in the light of God’s Word.
Many destinies remain caged because familiar spirits are left undisturbed. If you don’t
challenge them, they will keep enforcing evil patterns. But today is your day of escape!
Declare: “I refuse to be a victim of ancestral bondage! By the power in the blood of Jesus, I
ESCAPE the net of familiar spirits, in the name of Jesus!”
