The Mysterious Door in the Library
One rainy afternoon, 12-year-old Aanya found herself stuck inside her school library. The
electricity was out, and most students had gone home early. But Aanya didn’t mind — she
loved books more than anything. The quiet hum of the rain made the perfect background
music for reading.
As she wandered between shelves looking for a new book, she noticed something odd: a
wooden door she had never seen before, half-hidden behind a tall bookcase.
“Strange,” she whispered. “This wasn’t here yesterday.”
Curious, she stepped closer. The door was small — just big enough for a child to fit through
— and had a golden handle shaped like a lion’s head. Without thinking much, Aanya turned
the knob and stepped inside.
To her surprise, she didn’t find a dusty storage room or broom closet. Instead, she stepped
into a massive forest glowing with soft, golden light. Giant mushrooms sparkled. Birds
chirped melodies she had never heard before. Floating books with wings flapped gently
around trees.
“Am I dreaming?” Aanya whispered.
Suddenly, a book with silver feathers swooped down and spoke, “Welcome, reader of
curiosity! You have entered the Realm of Living Stories.”
Aanya blinked. “Did… did you just talk?”
“Yes!” chirped the book. “Only those with a true love for reading can find the secret door.
Here, stories are alive, and characters are waiting for someone to read them.”
Aanya spent what felt like hours meeting fairy tale creatures, solving riddles with clever
detectives, and riding flying carpets through history. She even helped a forgotten book find
its ending.
But eventually, the silver book fluttered back. “It’s time to return. The real world needs
readers like you.”
As she stepped back through the door, the forest faded. Aanya was back in the library. The
door was gone, as if it had never existed.
From that day on, Aanya visited the library more than ever. And though she never found the
door again, she knew one thing for sure:
Every book holds a doorway — you just have to be curious enough to open it.
Moral of the Story:
Curiosity and love for reading can lead to magical adventures, both in books and in real
life.
