UKVI Interview Questionnaire with Guidelines

Common suggestion for all questions- Please avoid generic issues and give specific information.

Area of Question: About Course


Potential Questions-
 The course you’re going to study and what this course entitles?
Suggestions-
 Demonstrate your Vision to what this course entitles.
 You must prove your specific knowledge about the course.
 You must have a right understanding and have strong, credible reasons for undertaking that course.
 Why do you want to study your chosen course?
Suggestions- Relate your chosen course to any further study or employment opportunities, or how it
will be of benefit to you in the future. Be specific and avoid generic issues.
 What do you know about the course? Provide an overview of your course. What can you tell me
about your chosen course?
Suggestions- In-depth research about your chosen course is needed to be shown.
 What skills you are expecting to learn from this course?
Suggestions- Check your course page carefully.
 What benefits you will gain from this course?
Suggestions- Check your course page carefully.
 Why do you need this course for your career?
Suggestions- Avoid unclear answers and provide specific information for choosing this course.
 What are the Assessment Criteria of the course? / How the course is assessed?
Suggestions- You must have complete knowledge of the course structure and content should be
discussed in detail the modules they will be studying as part of their course.
 Why you selected this course over others available to you?
Suggestions- In depth comparison for choosing this course over the other relevant course.
 What will you learn on this course?
Suggestions- Mention the skills and learnings of this course.
 Explain the differences and benefits of a higher education course in a similar field.
Suggestions- Show your justification.

Suggestions- detailed information regarding their course and how it is structured.
 How many credits your course is containing? (Mention as per your course)
Suggestions-
 Every UK Bachelor course contains 120 credits/year (Total 360 credits for 3 years).
 Every Masters course contains 180 credits.
 Why you did not choose the other similar courses?
Suggestions-
 Specify your reasons for choosing your course rather than other similar courses.
 Identify their course modules by name and be able to talk in-depth about your course content and
how this relates to your course choices and career progression.
 What is the level of your course?
Suggestions- Bachelor degrees- QCF-NQF6, Masters Degrees- QCF-NQF7.
Area of Question: About Study in the UK
Potential Questions-
 Why have you chosen the UK to study? Any comparison to other countries? / What research
about the UK? Why the UK is best as a study destination? Have you compared the UK to other
Countries? How the UK education system differs from other countries you looked at?
Suggestions-
 Clear justification for choosing the UK, like- the education quality, Global value of UK degrees etc.
 Detailed research about various educational issues about choosing the UK.
 Detailed info about the limitation to the other compared country(s).
 Provide specific research to support your decision to study in the UK.
 Show the credible and factual research into your course at other international providers or give
accurate rationale for choosing to pursue studies in the UK over elsewhere.
 Apart from studying in the UK what other things you were looking forward to doing in the UK?
Suggestions- Extracurricular activities, Tour etc.

 Unique advantages the UK provides that are not found elsewhere. Or, how does the UK
compare to your home country?
Suggestions-
 Please provide the unique information about studying in the UK.
 Demonstrate credible research into your course at other international providers or give accurate
rationale for choosing to pursue studies in the UK over elsewhere.
 Have you ever been refused a visa for the UK or any other country?
Suggestions- Please do not mention any refusal unless it is a British refusal.

Area of Question: About Future Plans


Potential Questions-
 Career aspirations/Future Plan. /What is your career goal and long-term plans? / What are
your future aspirations? What is you plan after completion of your course?
Suggestions-
 Specific future plan & specific role of job that they would consider after completing your course.
 You can’t mention jobs opportunity of different tracks.
 You must demonstrate how the chosen course would benefit you to fulfil the mentioned future plan(s).
 Conducted sufficient research or deliver much consideration into your future plans.
 Do not mention about Post Study Work (PSW).
 Do not mention any company which is not located to your homeland as you’ll come back to country
after studying.
 How your chosen degree will help you with your future plans? How it is right for your career
Goals? How this course is relevant to your plans?
Suggestions- Explain what specific skills and knowledge you will gain that will help you with your future
goals. Please conduct in depth research around the advantages of your chosen course and how this would
help you to achieve your career goal. You must demonstrate how the course will benefit you and you
career going forwards.
 What the roles and responsibilities are you would have to undertake in your planned career?
Suggestions- Please search in Google.
 How much will you earn after completion of the course?
Suggestions- Specify range of salary of the mentioned job.
 How will you get the money to fulfill your plans (Specially for those who want to be
entrepreneurs).
Suggestions- Students must demonstrate their immediate plan regarding setting up own businesses.
 Any relevance of current job to Applied course?
Suggestions- Applicants must demonstrate the proper reason.

Area of Question: About Website/Research


Potential Questions
 Which website you’ve used for your research about the UK?
Suggestions- A wide range of research using multiple sources.
 Research on USW?
Suggestions- A wide range of research using multiple sources specially ranking.
 How long you researched for before making your final decision?
Suggestions- Say your own answer. But do not say that it is your childhood dream.
 What type of research you completed?
Suggestions- Do a wide range of research using multiple sources.
 What research you had conducted when looking into studying overseas?
Suggestions- A clear thorough research on websites (mention the names) is needed based on your-

 UK
Please remember that a genuine student who is going to invest in their education overseas would conduct
research into multiple universities to consider which university offers the best course for them.

Area of Question: About USW


Potential Questions
 Why USW? / Any other compared University? Provide information about your selected place of
study. Why did you choose this university specifically? What aspects you prioritized when
deciding which university to study at? Have you compared the university of South Wales to any
other universities?
Suggestions-
 Answer should be very specific about USW which can’t be applied to multiple universities in the UK.
You must have detailed research into multiple university options as this allows you to make an
informed decision.
 Establish specific or unique reasons for choosing this university over others in the UK.
 In depth research into the course content and facilities that USW offers and compare these with other
institutions to make an informed decision.
 Factual information about USW based on academic issues.
 Unique educational benefits which have turned you into choosing USW rather than the others.
 Lower tuition fees issue can be added though it is a minor answer.
 What facilities will you get from USW?

 Favorite things about USW? / Tell something different about your university.

Suggestions- No. Choose based on location, size, and special programs to find the “best fit” for you.
There are many of excellent schools that will provide you and any other student with an excellent
education. Other reasons can be- Affordable fees, location, living cost etc.
 Who is your agent? / Did you take any assistance from someone in your application process? /
Have you used and agent to assist you with your visa application?
Suggestions- Please mention the name of USW regional office. Address- Regional Office | University of
South Wales, UK Shimanto Shambhar, Suite 5070, Level 5, Road 2, Dhanmondi, Dhaka-1209 Bangladesh.
Do not mention your immediate agent’s name.

 How many teaching hours will you have per day?


Suggestions- It is minimum 15 hours/week. Sometimes extra hours may require for academic purpose.

 How often will you be expected to physically attend classes?


Suggestions- You should say that you’ll be there regularly.

Area of Question: About Modules of the Course


Potential Questions
 What module are you most looking forward too? /What is the most exciting module and why?
Suggestions-
 UKVI doesn’t advise to recite all the details but the core things.
 You should talk in-depth about the course content, modules & how they relate to your course choices
and career movement.
 Each module should be pronounced correctly.
 Explain a specific module. Which module out of the ones listed you are looking forward?
Describe any module.
Suggestions- Conduct thorough research to talk in depth about your course and any module content.
 Which modules at other considered universities were not relevant to your course?
Suggestions- You need to be able to discuss the specific reasons for your university choice based on the
modules.
 Which course is most interesting or tough for you?
Suggestions- Show your rationale and logic here.
 How many modules you’ll be studying totally (each year)?
Suggestions- Check your course page. This answer should be very accurate. Students of the Bachelor
courses should reply base on their years of study.

Area of Question: About Finance


Potential Questions
 Who is your financial sponsor? /What proof do you have that your sponsor can support your
studies? / What is the Source of income of your sponsor? How are you related to him? / How
many people are his/her dependents? / What is his monthly income and expenses? / Why is he
financing you? How you will be funding your studies?
Suggestions- Please note, only your parents or your spouse can be your financial sponsor. Gather
information about their monthly/yearly income, income source. It is our country tradition that parents
usually take responsibilities of their children’s financial needs for education.
 Do you have the evidences of your financial sponsor’s income? / Is the money available to your
account or your parents account? / How the money is transferred to the bank account? / How
you will pay the remaining fee in your time in the UK? / How much money is available for your
stay in the UK? / What will be the total cost of per year?
Suggestions- Keep all the information about your fund, if you have remaining tuition fees, if the fund was
transferred to your account, the maintenance cost and the tuition fee of per year. If you have dependents/
your parents have other dependents on their monthly income, you should be able to explain how they are
managing to invest for your study. If you are financing your own study the you should say accordingly.
