EXTERNAL FINDINGS
1. Body length 170 cm
2. Eyes Closed, pupils dilated, cornea cloudy
3. Mouth, teeth Closed, teeth 16/16
4. Natural orifices Serosanguinous fluid oozes out from bilateral nostrils and
bilateral ear bleed noted.
5. Rigor mortis Found over head, neck & upper limbs
6. Post- mortem lividity Present over back
7. Decomposition Not manifested
8. Remarks H/o death due to alleged road traffic accident. Body was
kept in cold storage before the autopsy.
EXTERNAL INJURIES
1. A sutured wound of size (1cmX0.2cmXscalp-deep) was present on lateral aspect of left eye,1cm just
below the angle of left eyebrow.
2. An abraded-contusion of size (1.5cmX0.5cm) was present over lateral side of lower one-third of left
forearm 2cm above the elbow joint.

INTERNAL FINDINGS
Head & Neck
1. Scalp: peri-cranial hemorrhage and sub-scalpal hematoma was found over the left side frontal region of
scalp.
2. Skull: a linear fissure fracture of 21cm long (hinge fracture) was found involving the middle cranial fossa
extending from squamous part of left temporal area to squamous part of right temporal side passing along
the body of sphenoid. Membrane was intact.
3. Brain: edematous & congested. Diffuse Bilateral congestion, mixed with copious edema fluid was found
over the both cerebral hemispheres. Diffuse sub-arachnoid hemorrhage found over outer and inferior
surfaces of both cerebral hemispheres and posterolateral surface of both cerebellum. A laceration of
(8cmX3cmxcortical deep) of inferior surface of left frontal lobe. Diffuse sub cortical hemorrhage present
over left basal ganglia.
4. Vertebra, Spinal cord & Neck structures: intact and no abnormality detected.
Thoracic Cavity
1. Chest wall: Around 200 ml of transudate fluid in both pleural cavities.
2. Lungs & Pleura: intact & congested and oedematous .
3. Heart & pericardium: intact. All chambers contained clotted blood.
Abdomen and Pelvis
1. Peritoneal cavity: intact.
2. Liver: intact & congested. Gall bladder distended.
3. Stomach: contained about 200 ml of black cloured fluid mixed with fully digested food particles without
any specific odour. Intestines intact and features similar to that of stomach.
4. Spleen intact. Kidneys, Ureters and Adrenals: intact and congested. Urinary bladder: intact, empty.
5. Genitalia: intact
Viscera: not preserved.
OPINION
As to cause of death: All injuries mentioned above are ante-mortem in nature. The death of the deceased
was caused due to the above mentioned cranio-cerebral injuries and complications thereof.
Time since death: the time since death is within 18-36 hour.
