Topic: Introduction to python – Unit 1

The Faculty Development Program (FDP) held today focused on the basics of python Unit 1 of the
syllabus. Ms.K.Sairekha led the workshop, giving a comprehensive presentation on the fundamental
concepts, relevance, and applications of in numerous disciplines.

Key Highlights of the FDP Session:


 Presentation on Unit 1:

Ms.K.Sairekha, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Business Department, delivered an in-
depth discussion of Unit 1, which included project overview, feasibility, project scheduling, and numerous
cost aspects. The session was fascinating and educational, with real-world examples that effectively
explained complicated concepts.

 Discussion on eBook and Syllabus:

The official eBook that matched the current syllabus was presented to the faculty. Techniques for reading
and key chapters were recommended to improve the way the material was presented to the faculties.

 Assignment and Mini Project Guidelines:

The forthcoming assignments and mini-projects were explained in detail. In order to promote hands-on
learning, Ms.K.Sairekha stressed the need of choosing current issues for mini-projects and relating them to
the ideas covered in class.

 Digital Notes:

Participants were also exposed to a digital notes repository that may be used to help with lecture planning
and student learning. These notes are intended to be student-friendly and consistent with current
curriculum.

Outcome of the Session:

The session enhanced the understanding project overview, feasibility, project scheduling, and numerous
cost aspects among faculty and provided essential teaching aids and strategies. The participants appreciated
the clarity of presentation and practical orientation of the discussions.

Day 3: External Resource Person Dr. P. Kumaran, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and
Engineering, NIT, Puducherry.
Topic: Overview and Case studies in Unit 3, 4 and 5

The Faculty Development Program (FDP) held today focused on using Python and its practical
applications. The session was led by Dr. P. Kumaran, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and
Engineering, who provided in-depth insights into corresponding to Units 3, 4, and 5 of the academic
syllabus

The session emphasized the use of key Python libraries, including:


 Pandas for data manipulation and wrangling
 NumPy for numerical operations
 Matplotlib and Seaborn for data visualization
 Scikit-learn for preprocessing and correlation analysis
Dr. P. Kumaran demonstrated real-world case studies and walked participants through practical code that
demonstrated for students during regular classwork.

Highlights of the FDP Session:

 Presentation on Unit 3,4 and 5:

Dr. P. Kumaran provided an in-depth overview of Units 3, 4, and 5, which covered the fundamentals of

Clear instructions regarding the upcoming assignments and mini projects were provided. Dr. P. Kumaran
Sir emphasized selecting real-time problems for mini projects and aligning them with the concepts taught in
class to encourage hands-on learning.

The session enhanced the understanding of core data science principles among faculty and provided
essential teaching aids and strategies. The participants appreciated the clarity of presentation and practical
orientation of the discussions.

Overall the three days FDP on python programming gives a clear Overview about python and its
