Definitions
Oil - petroleum in any form including crude oil, fuel oil, sludge, oil refuse and refined products (other than
petrochemicals in Annex II) and the substances listed in appendix 1.
Special area - a sea area where adoption of special mandatory methods for the prevention of pollution
by oil is required.
Instantaneous rate of discharge of oil content - Discharge in litres per hour ÷ ship speed
Nearest land - from the baseline
Parts per million (ppm) - parts of oil per million parts of water by volume.
Enroute - the ship is underway at sea with course or courses for navigation purpose

Annex II: Regulations for the Control of Pollution by Noxious Liquid Substances in Bulk
Chapter 1 general
NLS – Substances listed as Category x,y,z in IBC code.
Category X: Major hazard to marine resources or human health, prohibited to the discharge.
Category Y: Hazard and limitation on the quality and quantity of the discharge.
Category Z: Minor hazard and less stringent restrictions.
Other Substances: OS, no harm and not subject to Annex II.

Annex IV: Regulations for the Prevention of Pollution by Sewage from Ships
Definitions
Sewage " means: drainage from
1. Toilets and urinals;
2. Medical premises wash basin, wash tap (dispensary, sick bay, etc.)
3. Spaces containing living animals; or
4. other waste waters mixed with the above drainages.

Annex V – Regulations for the Prevention of Pollution by Garbage from Ships
Garbage - all kinds of food wastes, domestic wastes and operational wastes, all plastics, cargo residues,
incinerator ashes, cooking oil, fishing gear, and animal carcasses generated during the normal operation
of the ship except substances defined or listed in other Annexes.
Garbage does not include fresh fish and parts thereof generated as a result of fishing activities.

Animal carcasses - the bodies of any animals that have died or been euthanized on board during the
voyage where the animals have been carried on board as cargo.
Cargo residues - the remnants of any cargo not covered by other annexes remaining on the deck or in
holds, whether in wet or dry condition or entrained in wash water.
Cooking oil - any type of edible oil or animal fat.
Domestic waste means wastes that are generated in the accommodation spaces. Does not include grey
water.
Food wastes - any spoiled or unspoiled food substances, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products,
poultry, meat products and food scraps.
Operational wastes - wastes that are collected during normal maintenance or operations of a ship, or
used for cargo stowage and handling. Does not include grey water, bilge water.
Grey water means drainage from dishwater, shower, laundry, bath and washbasin drains. Grey
water is not considered garbage in the context of Annex V.
E-waste means electrical and electronic equipment used for the normal operation of the ship or in the
accommodation spaces.

The sulphur content of any fuel oil used on board ships shall not exceed the following limits:
1. 0.50% m/m on and after 1 January 2020.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
If the emissions of VOCs from a tanker / Gas carrier are to be regulated in a port or terminals
under the jurisdiction of a Party, they shall be regulated in accordance with this regulation.
Shipboard Incineration
Shipboard incineration of the following substances shall be prohibited
1. Annex I,II,III cargo residues
2. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs);
3. Garbage containing more than traces of heavy metals
4. Refined petroleum products containing halogen compounds
5. Sewage sludge and sludge oil either of which are not generated on board the ship; and
6. Exhaust gas cleaning system residues. (123,P,G,P,S,gas)
Incineration of polyvinyl chlorides (PVCs) shall be prohibited, except incinerator have IMO Type Approval
Certificates.
Fuel Oil Quality
Bunker delivery Note (BDN)
Readily available for inspection, shall be retained for a period of three years after the fuel oil has
been delivered on board.
The sample is to be sealed and signed by the supplier’s representative and the master or officer in
charge of the bunker operation retain for a period of not less than 12 months from the time of
delivery.
Fuel oil consumption reporting
From calendar year 2019, each ship of 5000 GT and above shall collect the data for that calendar year
according to SEEMP.
Within 3 months after the end of each calendar year, shall report to its administration or class.
Operational Carbon Intensity
After the end of calendar year 2023,each ship of 5,000 GT and above shall calculate the attained annual
operational CII.
Within three months after the end of each calendar year, shall report to its Adm, or class.

Operational carbon intensity rating
determine rating A- major superior, B - minor superior, C - moderate, D - minor inferior, or E -
inferior.
A ship rated as D for three consecutive years or rated as E shall develop a plan of corrective actions to
achieve the required annual operational CII.
The SEEMP shall be reviewed to include the plan of corrective actions.
Shipboard Energy Efficiency
All ships of 400GT and above Shipboard Energy Efficiency Management plan (SEEMP) shall be onboard
and may be part of SMS.
Attained EEDI is EEDI value achieve by individual ship (for new ship - building contract is placed on or
after 2013). (EEDI energy efficiency design Index)
Required EEDI is max value of EEDI.
