* Answer all the questions on the paper itself.
1. All the female students in the primary section of Gamunu college must participate in only one

event for the primary sportsmeet. 5 of all the students participated in field events and in
running events.
(i) Denote the number of students who participated in field events and running events as a fraction
of the total number of students.

(ii) of the remaining number of students participated in organized sports events. Denote the
number of students who participated in organized sports as a fraction of the total number of
students.

(iii) Finally the remaining number of students (except the above three events) participated in
individual events. If the number of students who participated for that event is 225. Find the
number of students who participated in the sportsmeet.

(iv) Find the ratio of between the number of students who participated in the running and
individual events at the sportsmeet on that day.

2. The figure shows a rectangular lawn 120m long and

3.(a) Mr. Kulathunga sold 1200 shares he had in a certain company for 84 000 by making a capital gain of
Rs. 6 000.
(i) Find the price of one share he sold.

(ii) Find the price at which he purchased all the shares.

(iii) What is the purchase price of one share ?

(iv) If the company pays a dividend of Rs. 1.50 per share, find the dividend income received by
Mr. Kulathunga.

(v) Denote the total income he received for the sale of shares and dividends as a percentage of the
amount he invested.

(b) When purchasing a television from a company that sells electrical appliances, its selling price is
Rs. 103 500, with 15% VAT. Find the price of the television before the VAT imposed.
